  2. If so, the RealMarkDeneen might be able to help. I stress MIGHT. I'm getting pretty fricken' old, and before full blown dementia sets in, i might be able to provide help to those JMA owners who couldn't access me after retirement. To all who got stuck, I apologize. I apologize for not making everything RIGHT. All sorts of mistakes were made, as often happens in life. The only thing I can't do is actual repairs on gear. I'm not even sure if the company will allow me to be here. I'll find out soon, I imagine. If not, best wishes to all my old friends (and the unfriends too), and keep the hobby alive! Cheers, RealMarkDeneen

  3. Smart. My Aunt went through it in the late 70s and her back got worse after each successive one. My mother did not want to get it done but degradation of her discs gave her no choice on the first and final operation on her back.

  5. Howzit? I buggered my back a little more. Moved the stove by myself. Dragged it acrass the yard on a 4 wheel cart.... I think it's a luggage cart from a hotel. The stove fit nicely on it. I was hoping to get it here before the rain. That didn't happen. I got soaked. I put a tarp over the stove. The cart is ours now, too. It has a bar for hanging items. Took the tarp back and was offered a marble top wine cart. It has wheels, so, I dragged it home. It is fairly new. No idea what I'm gonna do with it. I may save the marble and toss the rest. I needed some 1in X 4in [or 6] to build a cabinet for under the cupboard. There were some wooden bedrails. That'll do. Snagged 3. They were all together.... I don't know where #4 is.

  7. Nakamichi made excellent gear, could still kick myself for selling that SR40 STASIS integrated amp i had in the 90s. It wasn't a hundred watter for my Heresy, but it was a 40 watter that pushed way above thanks to it's designer Nelson Pass. It went to 4:00 on the vol knob without clipping at all !

  8. It's Tedeshi Trucks today. The last chapter of their big thematic 2022 release is tomorrow night! Expecting this to be a strong one like the first two, there was a lull in the third. That's just my take, still thought provoking with "ideals of good morals" or striving to be so maybe.... you'd have to read up on it if you've got the time.

  13. Me? It's a beautiful amp, but I suspect I would be suddenly single if I bought it. Even if it is a bargain.

  14. Yea Man! Since you turned me onto them. I realized that's who I'd liked watching in those hours long Crossroads Specials on tv for about four years running. * & that link above for the fourth release?? Better be there with it up when it starts. After that if you try to watch the premiere you won't be able to until it is over with. Found out the last time.

  16. Had 4 bone spurs removed by my back dude only because they were huge and luckily haven't had any problems since. First visit in that place totally freaked me out. Soooo many people stumbling around, wearing all kinds of contraptions for this and that. Talk about sad??? I was trying to figure out why I was there. All ages tooo. Sometimes you see others far worse than you are and it becomes something you don't forget.

  17. I"m proud of ya Bill! Now you can figure out where you're going to put that marble in the kitchen. Burn the rest. All quiet in Duckburg. I guess everyone survived the festival since the downpour Saturday wiped the people and the vendors out. lol Suns up, and I added another show to my list. EC in Sept, Beck in October and Joe and his Vets Aid in November. Quite the lineup me thinks. Crazy prices for EC and Joe but Beck was only $80 in a smaller venue??? That's almost a no brainer! Time to hit that EC lp and relax.

  18. Oh.. my back? It happened when I was trying to fly a kite in a parking lot. I was running backwards and fell onto a concrete parking block .... the edge hit me right across the top of my hips. Not ready to start back surgery. I've heard too many stories. When I was working at Bethesda Naval Base... the admiral told me I would know when I want to try for [at best] a 20% chance of a 50% reduction in pain....

  20. Thanks Dude! Yeah, I love that style. Is this the man you refer to? Wow: My favorite player "using the whole guitar" is Tommy Emmanuel. I'm strictly a campfire cowboy sort of player. I probably enjoy the singing as much or more than the guitar playing. Getting lost in great songs is my meditation of sorts. It clears the head like nothing else I can do. Time disappears. The poetry of it erases mental garbage like nothing else I am aware of.

  22. For many large HiFi manufacturers without their own turntable production, they therefore also offered entire OEM lines made by Micro Seiki. For Luxman, they have traditionally designed and manufactured all models. Mostly, however, they limited themselves to the supply of the entry-level models at renowned HiFi companies, such as ADC, Denon, Sharp, Toshiba, Hitachi, Sanyo, Sansui, Kenwood, Telefunken, Saba or Scott. They also supplied the mail order companies Quelle, Neckermann here and RadioShack in America. Between 1976 and 1983, the beginning of the CD era, was the heyday of these OEM models. Coinciding of course with the heyday of the vinyl record. There have never been more and better devices than in these years.

  25. Mellowing out here today. Having a hard time concieving that a cold teriaki pork sandwich on rye with Dukes, provolone and sweet red pepper could taste like it was from a $30 plate! To Lupie's and the wonderful music the owners played (by the LP) at that restaraunt back in the early 80s! Van & Carlos were regulars there, this one from 2016 would have fit. *

  26. I'm 74 next month. Yes, we're still out in the desert with the jack rabbits, cactus and yucca. People chow! - that's a big subject, and I'm a bit surprised I left any associations to that tag here? My original people chow project was 1994 - well before I was on this forum. Well, anyway, I suppose like many subjects, I probably mentioned it here. My original attempts failed by virtue of a lack of processing machinery needed to combine all the proteins and saturated fats into some kind of sealed bisquit form. But, I am still chasing the "ultimate simplicty in maximum nutrition." I eat saturated fat and protein (from a very small list) with scant carbs and no processed foods, no sugar, no vegetable oil products. My wife thinks it is the most boring diet ever conceived - which would meet one of my objectives: Food should be as boring as filling your gas tank. At the moment, I am sipping on my "Bulletproof Coffee" (espresso with Ghee and C8-MCT OIL, and put in the blender for 1 minute). Ummmm...amazing. How's life for you? Building stuff? Fixing stuff?

  27. Well it’s more a middle Carver. It’s a tfm-35. I was using it with Polk SDA2 then moved those out when I got the LSI Splits. Was waaaay to much for the LSIs in my space. It is going in for a recap very soon then probably gonna run my Polk SDA SRS. As for the ACA Mini case. I am undecided. I have a cigar box that’s almost perfect size. Just not sure I like the look. Leaning toward leaving it nude or maybe something with LEGOs.

  30. My 2A3 amps didn't seem to get very hot at all, especially compared to the ST-70 with four EL34 output tubes in it. We had a baby sitter one time, who lay an LP on the amp... C'est la vie. Have you posted a pic of the finished product yet?

  31. He passed away about 5 years ago. They have all been sitting around in that building since his death (this could be for a number of reasons). The one's with the plaques with Golden Jubilee are the real deal, commissioned by Valerie Klipsch. You need a pair of K403 horns to complete what was commissioned. Michael Klementovich had a crazy ad on Audiogon where he was selling everything he had to finance a motorcycle trip somewhere (South America????). I don't think WC got the original mid-horns they came with, and I'm not sure about what the networks were. @seti I believe knows more of that story. I helped WC get that Studer 2 track, a very, very nice machine, but from appearances it has set for 5 years in the building with no care, maintenance (or HVAC?) since his death along with the other items. WC fell out of the good graces of Klipsch, as a dealer, when he posted on the Forum (I'm sure the post is deleted, but maybe not) that he was in the process of developing Jubilee Bass Bins with passive radiators ("the Drone"), someone asked for photos and/or plans of the Drone and his response was "no photos, no plans." I believe someone posted something from his website that he was intending to build them and sell them and they were "coming soon.". The response to that post was from a Klipsch employee that they had referred the matter to their patent and trademark attorneys in Indianapolis and that he would be hearing from them very soon. As I recall he tried to walk that back, changed his website, and he didn't post much of anything on the Forum after that. WC was a very accomplished Aeronautical Engineer for the Sikorsky helicopter company, and held many patents. Hard to understand his mindset of becoming a Professional Dealer, selling at least one pair of Underground Jubilee's as a dealer, and then stating on his website that he was in the process of offering them.

  34. I was a consultant to Panacea. I worked on a passive radiator version of the Jubilee-Like horn we built 10 years and 2 months ago. We spent about 2 days on it. I measured against the Golden Jubilee and found the rear chamber stuffed with foam, which is something PWK never did on his horns or Heresys. I have curves somewhere on another computer. Conclusion? No improvement over the Golden Jubilee.

  42. I like that the outlines of the side boards remain recognizable on the front of the baffle in the squaker and tweeter area. It is often the case that subsequently applied veneer is glued over the entire surface of the front. Then the LaScala looks clunky in my view and no longer so well proportioned.

  45. Well, not telling the truth about what kind of product you are buying or being led to believe it is a different product (analog) than what it is (digital processing sections in the chain) is not forgivable. It is simply fraud so that an exorbitant price can be obtained from the ranks of an analog fan community. If we leave this moral and legal level out of it, then it becomes interesting once again. Various test scenarios are conceivable. If I could wish for it: Two master tapes from which one record each is pressed. In this test, no changes (eq, dynamics etc) should be made on the digital level. It should only be in the way. Would I hear the difference on my record player? In fact, it would be much better if after the DSD loop you recorded back to the same kind of tape and machine in analog and compared that to the original master tape, then no artifacts are added by the vinyl pressing and the turntable. (but maybe it is these artifacts that some people like so much). Another test would be, if MoFi digitizes, that you stay in the digital world and that from the digitized master some consumer format is produced, MQA or DSD audio what you can buy, and then compare it with vinyl. I love records but after the break of the analog chain vinyl would be absolutely charmless for me, even if I had a very good turntable with all the necessary around it. I have a lot of records from before 1980 and I love my turntable for that. All people who buy a Mofi product must feel fooled, even if it sounds "somehow" good. And I believe that if you have only once had a digital step in the chain, leave it digital downstream to the hifi system.

  46. Maron, Thanks, Mike had told me the "Story" on this and I am prety sure that the quality of the wooden 403's that they were trying to get made was just about horrible. Isn't that the reason that they gave up on the wooden 403's for the Top's of the Jubes...? EDIT: I've found that to be true more than once........Great looking Plots and the Polars dead on and they sound like Crap.....Another note...You have to have a great room to have great sound...this is just MY observation Thanks,

  47. FWIW - The newer Compact Fluorescents or for that matter, any Fluorescents with Electronic Ballast will put out RF that your Horn Drivers can/will pick up. In some cases, you can get noise without the amp being connected. Also, some types of amps will pick up this signal. There are so many areas that noise can be generated these days, it is really very hard to track the source down. Don't just linit yourself to connections.......you have to look at everything that is related to the listening space.
