  1. I work at Klipsch...and I stopped hanging out here due to the down right stupid things in here...Folks acting like 3y old's getting their feeling hurt over someones else using a word they didn't like. I have been on here for 22 years. There has been serious talk of taking it all down. The employees that do come here are doing so as a volunteer. Taking time out of their day to keep this place going. With out them, this place would not be here. WE get SO TIRED of the SAME thing OVER AND OVER...."we know better than a 75y old co. and the trained engineers that design the product, Do this to your speaker and hear it get better" Go build your own damn speaker company and leave ours alone. Many of the post on here just prove the point that it is better to keep your mouth shut and be thought a fool than opening your mouth and proving it. I have "stepped in it" a few times and gave bad data...I try hard to correct that and own up to my mistakes. The drama here is just TOO MUCH. Some bonehead sent customer service a mail bitching about Roy calling him bonehead and Roy being the Chief Bonehead...( I say butthead, but that is just me). Bitching about a guy that has been here for almost 40 years won't change much....Something tells me they like having him around. Once he gives up, my guess is this place will be gone. Proceed with caution... PS: I have NO power to change a thing, I just see the writing on the walls...

  5. My goodness .....to pick up the KM 4 I´ve been 9 hours on the road today for 217 km one way and 217 km back to my hometown. It was a horror traffic tripp like I know from cities like Cairo , Bangkok, Seoul or Jakarta 😏 However it was worth to purchase these little origin KM 4 . What shell I say ? Of course , my RF7 Evo´s are another world, but that´s not the point ! The KM4 is a great speaker for it´s size, with a really wonderful soundstage , resolution and emotional clear and structured voices, very crispy , midrange and midbass is in propotion to the hights and brilliance . The bass is decent but very very accurate in it´s performance . I have no regrets , they now run a few days in continuous operation , currently running with my SS Marantz PM 11-S3 and my network player Marantz NA 8005 . I am curious how they will sound when I will operate the tube preamp in hybrid mode with my Marantz power amp or with the tube mono power amps. In any case it´s fun on a very high audio performance level. Never ever expected that !

  6. I guess I should have been clearer in my first sentence there. I just wish the NEW rules were spelled out clearly. The guidelines seem pretty clear about courteous behavior, etc. I meant we need the rules about topic boundaries stated clearly. The "builder" (i.e. the person who put the modified speaker together) was me and I don't sell anything. The Forum member who built the replacement wood parts did it as a courtesy for me personally. As far as I know, he only builds DIY speakers for his own use. Of the two third-party parts that I mentioned, one is not a direct competitor to Klipsch as far as I can tell. Admittedly, I haven't looked at every page of their website, but it's certainly not obvious that it's a competitor. The other is actually an OEM supplier of a part for the Jubilee. So, the only thing I can conclude from this is that modifications can no longer be discussed here. If that is the case, spell that out in the community guidelines instead of enforcing an unstated rule.

  7. I just wish the rules were spelled out clearly. There has obviously been a change in policy as people have discussed modifications here for years, but I don't see that change spelled out in the community guidelines yet. I would not have posted about my modified speaker if the rules had been clearly stated. This is Klipsch's forum, and they can change the rules when they see fit. Just don't leave us guessing about what the new rules are.

  8. Henry, I understand what is can be...I spent a LOT of time on here in the past. I am one of the most passionate about the product. Paul was a friend...it's personal. He cussed me and tossed me out of his house over a question I relayed from a member. He ask about changing one of PWK's speakers. It was a "change" that Paul had worked on 30y before. As a good engineer, he went down that road. Found it to be not worth the effort and moved on. By asking, it was an insult to Paul. Like we didn't think him enough of a engineer to have checked such a thing. " %##$%$#^%$^ I spent 60 years making that speaker what it is and I don't need some %#%^#$%^$#^%$*$ yahoo trying to putz around with it. Get ^%#^%$E^&%$^$^$^&$^%$^&%$^$%^$ out. Thanks to Mrs. K, the messenger was just bruised and I got a fine meal. Paul and I were closer after that. He knew I would take up that "fight". I used to like this place...but once my BS meter was pegged, I had to get out for a while. I have seen things change over the years and without Roy and a FEW others.....we wouldn't be having this convo... There is a lot of history and info on here. It wouldn't be lost...I just worry about it becoming a "hangnail".... I am just an albatross here... I fly in, crap on things and fly out. Don't mind me.

  9. This ^ 100x this. And threads and posts aren’t deleted, they are hidden. I was banned for 30 days last year and put on moderated posts because I was being an ***. Klipsch/Roy expects civil, respectful behavior. He always says something in the thread before the hammer comes down. In my thread, some just showed up to complain and comment about the injustice of it all. I asked one person to call me to hash it out, and they called me while drunk, and not making any sense at all. Another, who supports another vendor, just had to come in and talk about how unprofessional my work is ¯\_(ツ)_/¯. So, yeah, all that got cleaned out, and I was grateful. Thank you @Travis In Austin When the section was changed to have an emphasis on restorations as opposed to modifications, everyone just seemed to forget whose house they were in. One suggested the area should have been renamed “Kool-Aid Drinkers.” So yeah, bye, bye. Oh yeah, you can blame me for that. I came up with the new name and suggested it to Roy, saying the culture here would never change unless Klipsch did it. There are at least a half dozen different places to go to discuss and promote modifications. I guess we love our Klipsch speakers, but only if we do x y z to them. Maybe try to view this through their lens, which is what I decided to do.

  12. So friends , playing a little bit with my new toy , the Klipsch KM 4 is in action since approx. two hours , what shell I say ? Of course , my RF7 Evo´s are another world, but that´s not the point ! The KM4 is a great speaker for it´s size, with a really wonderful soundstage , resolution and emotional clear and strucured voices, very crispy , midrange and midbass is in propotion to the hights and brilliance . The bass is decent but very very accurate in it´s performance . Okay my listenroom is so large that I have to fire the KM 4 much more than my Evo´s . Looking forward to listen more with this exciting speaker .

  16. More time listening to the HF-87 clone... I hate to use typical audiophool adjectives, but this amp is one of the best sounding amps I have heard, regardless of price (tube or solid state). This is quite a statement coming from me. Why? Because typically, I can only barely perceive differences in amps when comparing them unless they are just junk compared to something good. It is totally transparent, but powerful. Sound, soundstage, imaging, noise, frequency extension (high & low) are excellent. If you are looking for a moderately powered push-pull tube amp, this is the one to make. For Heritage speakers, you do not need more than 35 watts per channel which this is rated at.

  23. Gil update: I was finally able to talk to Gil. He is doing some rehab. He is doing exercises and using a walker. He hopes to get transferred to another facility. He said he will try to log onto the forum this weekend. I'm sure he would love to hear from forum members. Hopefully, his cell phone is working if you try to call. He still has hopes to move into an apartment and start working again at some point. If he can get into an apartment, he would like to have the Belles. He is going to talk to his brother in law about it. So, at the moment I am holding on to his stuff for a while longer.

  24. Since Mullard/Philips was a European company, any equipment manufacturer in Europe who needed an EL-34 type tube in their equipment used one. Although they were a good tube, they were also very inexpensive and that is why they were so prevalent at first, not because of their sound, reliability or other attributes.

  25. The "go build your own speaker co." was something Paul said while tossing me out of his house...I just used it. THIS IS FROM THE MOUTH OF TREY CANNON....NOT KLIPSCH!

  26. I would hate to see this forum come to an end. I believe it is still savable. Do not let a few bad apples spoil the whole barrel. It has been up a very long time. I have been coming here listening for too many years to remember how long. I think it just needs guided in the right direction of which I can see it happening already. With the right leadership I can see this place being a good place to learn of Klipsch and their products. When the focus is not on Klipsch and promotion of their products I can see why Klipsch has been discussing taking the site down. Guys we need to get with the program or just quietly move on and quit complaining. Check the number of visitors coming to this site Trey and you will see many, many more visitors than the ones always posting. I believe this website can be very beneficial to Klipsch. As I said on Roy's thread he or someone like him has a big megaphone here if they just use it and reach a lot of potential customers who will purchase their products. Called word of mouth advertisement for just the cost of maintaining the site. Cheap these day with the cost of advertising being so high.

  27. Because even if the cabinet IS resonating, it's at an inaudible level. Just because you can put your hand on the cabinet and feel it vibrating doesn't mean you can hear it. The Heritage series speakers are popular because they just WORK. I'm sure Paul Klipsch would roll his eyes, and flip around his Bullshit Button if he heard some of the technobabble justifying bracing, special woods, etal.

  33. The RF7 Evo´s aren´t in operation , so it´s just STEREO . You may can imagine that I will moddy the x-over in the near future , but before that I think to optimize the cabinet damping and the internal wiring . That´s my plan for the wintertime.

  40. They are the same as the KG 3.5 "KM" is Klipsch Military offered at military bases? They are one of the only models in the KG line I have never owned or heard but have been relatively happy with all the KG's for their size and price point. Used to be you could find the 3.5's in the $100-$150 range, not sure now with the market the way its been.

  42. Yes, I said about like. Familiar with the KM line, also the Tangent line for military. Have owned some and KG line. In any case you like them. All that counts without going into difference.

  43. Yes, the fact they deleted your thread for no obvious reasons is extremely frustrating to me for some reason. I understand some of these other threads lately as they turned nasty but you highlighting your new H-Jub's with a masterfully done Belle mod has me shaking my head in disbelief. Honestly if this is the new direction they might as well shut it down.

  47. Dude! You're another here I have things in common with. First car in `79 was a `73 400 MAGNUM SE Charger. At mom's house there would be that plus a 67 383 MAG Charger, a `69 440 RT Charger, `74 RT 340 Challenger, `70 Chevelle 396 and the Goat... a`65 Tri-Power 4spd 389 Balanced/Blueprinted GTO. Sometimes Mom's `72 Great White Buffalo (Impala) would be there at the same time!

  48. Maybe one of the technical or engineers can comment... I always understood that something resonates at a certain frequency... regardless of how soft/loud you have it. Yes, if you are playing it quietly, maybe the resonance would fall below a certain audible threshold, but it's there none the less. Louder volumes would unleash it more but the interference starts the moment it is hit with a certain frequency. So, (to the technical inclined) is resonance volume dependent, frequency dependent or a combo of both?
