  1. My friend and Klipsch fanatic, Roger Gordon, sent these Pro La Scala's to convert to home speakers. Sadly, he passed away before they were completed. I have finished them and will be sending them to his wife and daughter. I hope they feel a bit of his presence when listening to them and appreciate their beauty, as I know Roger would.

  3. Luther, those are absolutely stunning. I'm sure his family will cherish those, thanks for doing that for them. Roger was a one-of-a-kind guy, and those are one-of-a-kind La Scalas.

  5. And here is the third thriftstore find of the day. No surprises with L Berstein's Symphonic dances from West Side Story, of course. But I'm positively surprised by William Russo's Pieces for Blues Band and Orchestra. How bizarre is that! Interesting person! https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/William_Russo_(musician)?wprov=sfla1

  6. And here is the second thriftstore find of the day. I can't imagine why anybody would get rid of classics like these, unless you'd died...

  11. I'm on the Board of the Klipsch Museum with him, as is the President of Klipsch, and the Chairman of Voxx (Honorary Trustee), and I always refer to Roy as "Chief Bonehead" during Board Meetings. The Klipsch marketing machine designed things for the 1st Chief Bonehead Education class and came up with the name, Chief Bonehead's Deep Dive. When Roy does Klipsch Listening Lounge's, the name he types in is Chief Bonehead. Klipsch wouldn't let him change it even if he wanted to.

  15. Bought this one at the local thriftstore. A 1973 pressing. It was so dirty I used Dettol wipes to clean it. Think somebody puked on it. But the album has a lot of wear and tear, which always is a good sign. It is actually a very good sounding record.

  26. 80´s japanese avantgarde electronic music. Found it in a store while shuffeling through some LPs. Not bad, a little Bowie here, a little Sakamoto there, was his debut album: Masami Tsuchiya - Rice Music

  31. Thanks Not too worried about it; seems it will make landfall a bit south of us. Meaning storm surge won't be 10 feet (Haha; house is at 9 ft, garage at 6 ft, pool at 4 ft.) Will probably put up storm shutters later today. Have hurricane glass in all windows, BUT not in 14 french doors on the south side But, really concerned for many people here as many older homes are at 3-6 feet Anyhow, we have enough wine to get through this. Cheers, Emile

  33. Oh no. I just finished reading the book One Flew Over the Coocoo's Nest. As can be expected, the book is a little different than the movie, but the two faces, Jack and Louise, were always there. I will have to watch the movie soon.

  34. Cornwalls as a wedding gift? That is wild. I had to brace my wife for my Cornwalls as at the time they were the ugliest speakers on the planet.

  36. Klipsch's history pages have been "dropping off" for some time. These were penned by me prior to my departure in 2015. The LaScala did not get a very lengthy write-up. I can add that the Grateful Dead's LaScala's recently were on eBay. Also the first group I am aware of to use them live was Peter, Paul, and Mary. Below (if I can get this thing to paste) is all that I know of that used to be on the site other than some pics: The History of the La Scala Out of the Corner Named after the Teatro alla Scala in Italy, the original La Scala® was unveiled in 1963. Cosmetically improved over the years, the La Scala provides Klipschorn-like performance from a smaller cabinet that does not require corner location. Paul W. Klipsch offered it to Arkansas gubernatorial candidate Winthrop Rockefeller to use as a public address speaker, and he did use one on a train car during a subsequent campaign.

  39. I only have to worry about 10 years or so. The youngins out there who are looking at say, 50 more years, really have to plan carefully where to set down roots and build social and economic equity.

  40. I have five identical Cornwalls in a 5.1 system. Having the identically capable threesome across the front soundstage (and as well in the back, especially on certain material) is truly a revelation in home theater, this after trying other smaller methods to get something close. This works with Heresys, Cornwalls, Belles, whatever you choose. Once the threesome identical across the front is heard and the "righteousness" understood nothing else will do. It's sooooooo "locked in". The MOST capable speaker in a home theater in terms of "full range" should be the CENTER. In my case I have the center as an old school "Cornwall II" betwixt two Cornwall Is so it's lowboy such that a large flatscreen can rest atop it and really work out perfectleh.....

  41. Looks like some DIY. $150 for this set of components it's probably a steal. But you can only say if it sounds good. If it's midrange heavy then probably crossover is not set properly for it, you would need to measure it to see how it was tuned. Probably you could make it closer to real Cornwall by exchanging horn to Klipsch H600 or H700 and mid driver to K55V which seems to be bit better then EV 1823M, and use some Type A/AA crossover, but this still will not be Klipsch speaker and cost will be few times more than what you already paid for it.

  44. I have some tinnitus in one ear but your buddy might have it worse. Loud noise can cause physical pain in that ear. It tells me when to leave the area, use ear plugs, or back off on the volume. For a 2 hour show I'd keep it under 90db. 105db hurts after about 5 minutes. 80-85db and I could go for a long time. Keep track of the SPL and if in doubt turn it down.
