  1. My first LP tonight: 👍👍

  2. Reminds me of the veddy, veddy British manual for the SME tone arm in about 1969, in which they cautioned, "Do not take it to pieces." I can't decide whether that is my favorite, or Luxman's use of just the right amount of feedback to "avoid evil effect."

  6. I´m still tuning, but, most important: All the distortion I had before is almost gone. Sounds more "open". I had a eliptical stylus on the old M91 before, wich was not playable. The sperical was better, but still had distortions... Both were after-market copies (although good ones). My guess is, there is something amiss with the geometrics of the other system, have to check that once more. Now, I guess, I can start to enjoy the music, instead of waiting for hissing to set in...

  12. That isn't exactly what happened 8-) Klementovich was gifted the Golden Jubilee's by Valerie. They had K403's. There were two pairs made she had the other pair. Klementovich didn't like the "plastic" K403's so he replaced with martinellis. He also didn't like the crossover so he moved it to 750hz which was an odd thing to do. Klementovich sent the K403's to Maron Horonzack. I had happened to contact Maron to talk horns when I had mentioned how much I would love a pair of K403's. Maron said "How bad do you want them?" I was joking and said something like $500 and he said $550 and I'll ship them to you..... Next thing I know I have a pair of unobtanium K403's and I have been listening to them ever since. They are amazing as they are the combinitation of wills and compromises of PWK and Roy. It has Roy's flair and PWK's collapsing verticals. They are my favorite audio item.

  14. So tempting...Do you think if I was to move into an apartment for about 6 months and decided to put in a set of Underground Jubilees, I would have a use for these? I don't have an apartment or Jubilees, but you never know.

  15. I just bought a used Tangent 4000. I hope it is no problem to show the crossover. Only two small changes compared to the Heresy II.

  21. These finally made it to eBay, wonder what they'll actually sell for? https://www.ebay.com/itm/304655625433?hash=item46eee3ecd9:g:SU4AAOSwXppjLIkR&amdata=enc%3AAQAHAAAAoLXHTDp2S6kUZXAbDSBWNS5ZGhP8jIFmdEYDDgLFmGHVkNZVLJTOpg3FARJQFbKeib%2FXYflfaL12%2F9pu%2FmFBOAqRGNfoDuZmJXCR%2BlQWmWQK1vAEjwXYvMnrtQghYNZhFSpXT6B3VYnhGW9v1Wr7KBeQKwAv%2BY0Vw4smwN5CyDxJev4j1v28lscA4YFKm0ONsPdUPigc7qZkTeA2vDdI9JQ%3D|tkp%3ABk9SR4jl_NL3YA Up for sale is the once in a lifetime opportunity to own a pair of Klipsch Golden Jubilees! These were the last thing Paul W. Klipsch personally worked on before he died. There are only two pairs that exist. Paul’s wife Valerie donated one pair to the Paul W. Klipsch Museum in New Mexico, and gifted the other pair to the co-author of Paul’s biography, and that is this pair. This pair was then sold to W.C. Fischer who owned a Klipsch showroom and repair shop in South Carolina, and I bought them from his estate.

  22. Heresys, or any other Klipsch Heritage Series speakers, are premium products and should never be repaired with cheap parts. Klipsch parts will maintain their high performance, while 2nd-grade parts will compromise it. Even if the cheaper parts are much cheaper, they're false economy, since they'll downgrade your fine speakers.

  24. Understood - thanks very much for the sage advice on this - I definitely do NOT want to have my tweeters sounding anything other than exactly as they sounded when they left the assembly line in Hope back in 1977.

  29. AK series of networks have fuses. AL series have either zeners or polyswitches. Each has drawbacks. I think most listen too loud. I still think the best tweeter protection is your volume control and being able to recognize when a driver is in distress.

  31. Considering that dozens and dozens of investors have paid many times that price to own JPGs of Apes, it looks like a seriously solid opportunity for someone with spare cash. There are plenty of people looking for inflation proof investments today. This is a decimal point out of my range, but heck, it's chump change for millions of others. Spectacular rare artifact!

  34. I was hoping that when these went up for sale that it would be at a realistic price. I had a thought that we might organize a group purchase and donate them to the Klipsch Museum of Audio History. That's where I feel they belong. It's certainly out of the question at this price.

  37. Our actual living room has a 43 in. tv, an old H/K630 receiver hooked up to a pair of JBL4311 studio monitos ( picture pro version of L100s) Actual TV room was a 2 car garage that original owner of house made his 'family' room in 1962. Given it's size, we've had La Scalas and MWM bins in there and there were no complaints at all. I did sell the MWMs and gave the LS to my older son. Temporarily have Heresy IIs. They work fine, but larger horn loaded cabinets are planned for the future. It's all just stuff anyway. We will downsize in a country far away when we retire. May not have anything. I would probably play more guitar and be better off for it.

  38. I don't trust my ears until I see some measurements first. Some things I hear simply don't show up, because most people I know aren't sitting on a full blown lab. You need some kind of baseline. Ears alone are notorious liars.

  39. If this is going to be used as a 2-channel stereo system then I would caution the over use of absorption because it’s easy to unnaturally alter the decay of sound especially in the upper midrange and high frequencies and basically it begins to sound like an anechoic chamber (a very unpleasant place for music when you experience it.) in the upper midrange and high frequencies. This can be very fatiguing and some frequencies can almost become piercing. Diffusion can be a mixed bag as well depending on the type of diffusers you choose. Overall I have come to prefer poly type diffusers versus ones like the RPG QRD Type or RPG Skyline primitive root diffusers because all can work well when used properly but the RPG Type if not placed optimally can sometimes create some audible effects that can lead to a fatigue effect revealed over extended listening. The Poly Diffusers seem to be the most forgiving of placement and rarely cause undesirable audible effects in my experience. In my current listening room the only places I ultimately found beneficial and acceptable for the Skyline diffusers was on the front wall and as a ceiling cloud above the listening position. In a smaller room the Skyline worked well on the side wall first reflection points but only after I slightly offset their positions so that left and right didn’t send symmetrical reflective signals to the center listening position. Visually the Skyline diffusers might seem impressive to some when on the front wall I actually prefer a less dramatic and more visually neutral and relaxing front wall where it becomes easier to visually imagine the imaging in recordings and ultimately listening in a dimly lit or dark room best of all. I consider the ASC Tube Trap design to offer the least negative and most positive and easiest to place and one of the most important features of all is their adjustability for absorption/versus diffusion above approximately 400Hz which I find extremely valuable achieving the proper liveness and decay of the upper midrange and high frequencies. All ASC products have upper frequency absorption control to prevent unnatural over absorption unless ordered/specified differently. Whatever you choose for absorption I strongly suggest it feature some form of upper frequency absorption control/limitation if possible to prevent the unnatural anechoic effect in the mid/high frequencies. Have you identified the best balanced/smoothest locations for your loudspeakers for the frequency range below 200Hz..? This is step one IMHO and the foundation to begin the acoustical design of the listening room/loudspeaker integration. miketn 2 Examples of Skyline Diffusers positions that worked for me but again ultimately I chose them in the Cloud Position which also allowed me to shift the floor to ceiling room mode at the listening position to a more favorable frequency.

  40. My crowd days are over too. Jazz shows at the junior college music hall, 3-400 people. More my speed these days. But always wanting to optimize my time, I trim my toenails during the show. No one’s objected - yet.
