  1. Good evening Vinyl Brethren, It's been some time since I navigated these waters. Starting out with a 1962 Vitaphonic Stereo recording by Warner Brothers. Music Made Famous By Glenn Miller. With Tex Beneke, Ray Eberle, The Monernaires, with Paula Kelly. Recorded Live at the Sands Hotel, Casbar Theater. Cheers!

  6. Sometimes you ask questions that aren't necessary or try to solve problems you don't have. I hooked up my Macbook to the stereo using the headphone jack and played some of these links. Quality is not a concern. There may be a difference on paper, but it would be splitting hairs in real life. Looking forward to using this thread to expand my musical pallet.

  8. OH OH @Dave1291 what happend with us old dj´s 😂 Hope that our best time are still in front of us .......and not gone allready Now I am back home again . After 2 weeks in the hospital I was really missing my wife and children. I enjoy these hours very much , a dinner for four after a long time. My son and I played poker , checkers and backgammon . We had an incredible time. Unfortunately, the headaches are still very strong so I have to take strong medication. I can not tolerate loud noises. Quiet music is not a problem. Hope very much that it will be better in the next few weeks.

  9. I'm surprised it's your first half-speed. You'll be searching for more now! Like always it makes good recordings outstanding, mediocre ones will show all their flaws up front and center. But flaws like acoustic guitar string scratching on an old Clapton record I don't count!

  10. Hey Brother! Good to hear from you. The Danley's are still going strong. Better than ever in fact. I've EQ'd them much better these days.

  12. Trip to the burn clinic today. Back in two weeks now. It's healing, which amazes me. Told my oldest daughter it might be healed by summer and heard her groan & whine a bit. She's been changing the dressings daily and it's starting to tax her a bit. She'll survive. Me? I dunno. 😂 Could be the last nice weekend if the temps hit the 70's like "they" say they will. A lil ballin and the TV works for me. Could break out the grill but that sounds like work. Maybe though. Worthlessness is a good thing w/me.

  14. Many of these conversations confuse asking price (which we all see) with actual price sold (which we do not see). Asking price and selling price can be very different things. Something to consider ....

  18. $2,000-3,000 be my guess, but again, the basic premise for today's variations, is that they try to compare used pricing of a less refined, cosmetically RAW (as opposed to a pretty finish) and justify the used prices based on an apples and oranges (new apples vs. old orange) and price in the range 0.5-0.7 times the new price. It's a market reality in front of our eyes. To stay on topic, the same POINT applies to Klipschorns to a lesser degree because those changes have not been as radical as on the LaScala, making them more of a New Apple, vs. an apple with a few bites and tooth marks.

  20. I hope this little excursion is allowed, otherwise I'll take the moderators' punishment🙄 It's slate grey, after being Viper Green for a long time in the US. But slate grey is not only a favourite colour of mine but according to the Porsche COA I have, it was the original colour in 1966. Here are a few pictures from the last few years after the welding work with engine out therefore so high at the back. All original with Solex carburettors. Seats are black leather.

  22. Welllllll, I've been into my pile here so will have to get some posted. Sneaking over to the turntable a bit but not as much as usual. lol Saw the burn doc today and I'm not back for two weeks now. Toes are looking a lot batter overall but that pinky isn't looking good. They said those pinky toes are tough to heal so we'll see what tricks they have up their sleeves. Glad to hear you're outta there and feeling better George. Take it easy now. As if

  23. I am not a big Cornwall fan. I’m a huge Chorus fan, both versions. I listened to the new Cornwalls at a dealer a few months ago and thought they sounded excellent. Even though they were powered by a 7-channel AVR.

  24. Have you ever moved a chorus II? I have by myself and wouldn’t want to do it again for a simple test. Having said that my local dealer has CV4, so heard both but not a/b and I’d say if I could afford it and have room, I’d prefer CW4 over chorus2. But then again, price factors into that situation and room size etc.

  31. Porter grew up in Bakersfield. As a child, he sang gospel with his mother in church. His early influences also included soul and rhythm and blues. He named Nat King Cole, Leon Thomas and Nina Simone as role models.

  32. Don't deny it! No mistake, He has an instrument as a voice like so few do. Listening to solo singers practice for church with my mother the organist/choir director in the living room. I've heard lots of tenors, one great. An alto soprano that was the literal "big" lady singing and several good duets. All for things like Christmas then the Easter cantatas. Handel and the like back in the 70s.

  43. I was interested to see the use of the first mirror to see the screen while adjusting the set from the back, and it was amusing to see the second mirror used to keep an eye on the sticky-fingered kid. The caption is "I use that one to keep an eye on my tools."

  45. I got my Schiit Aegir in November. I use it with a pair of 1996 LaScala's. It sounds amazing. I have attached a chart that PWK put together on amplifier power and sound level, the chart also includes Cornwalls.
