  6. I use Qobuz, and hi-res counts for anything 24/96 or higher. Tidal does similar, but largely locks "hi-res" streaming behind the MQA wrapper in order to prop up that pile of hot garbage every hates, but the industry insists on trying to keep alive.

  8. ALMOST, pitched my sweeper today. Thing has been working about half maybe. There went 2 hours. lol Decided I'd better die into it when I found out it was $250 new. That thing can suck an egg thru a garden hose if ya know what I mean. 😂 Decided to unload my VetsAid tickets for Sunday evening. Just don't think I could do the walkin and it's really not too smart if I want these toes to heal. Made my mailman a happy boy. Going for 3k each now resale. Joe's ALWAYS been a dam* jinx to me and he knows it. lol Last time I did his solo show it was with Tom Petty in Cbus. Nothing like getting a new pacer lead wire replaced in the morning and stumbling into the venue that nite. Slept a few hours at my youngest's apt then eat and get dropped off at the show. Dumbest thing I ever did. Friends brought me home and dumped me. Perfect! NOT! Now THIS garbage! lol Ole Jinx is gonna hear about it too! lol Might just have to catch the Livestream for $20 and crank it up. Check the link for the rundown, which features Joe & the Gang with Foxy and Dale playing, Dave Grohl, Black Keys, NIN, and The Breeders. All Ohio dudes! 6 PM EST show and will be worth every penny for $20. You also get 48 hours of extended viewing. https://vetsaid.veeps.com/events/f2d6e78d-d48a-4892-9e5b-355db45079a3?irgwc=1&clickid=UJtUBP1LdxyNR3lXany953ZtUkDSUnyS0TiY380&camefrom=CFC_BUYAT_3219313&impradid=3219313&REFERRAL_ID=tmfeedbuyat3219313&wt.mc_id=aff_BUYAT_3219313&utm_source=3219313-Veeps&impradname=Veeps&utm_medium=affiliate&ircid=4272 Remember EVERY PENNY of this show is going to VetsAid. Aside from that, mid 60's maybe and going down there at night. Carry on! lol

  10. Scored some KG5.5's yesterday. My family has a history of running Klipsch speakers. My dad has La Scalas and Heresys and my brother has some RP-160M's. Finally I have the room to start my own system. Currently running them with my Yamaha A-S301. Can't believe the difference compared to inherited Infinity Modulus set up. They have now officially been sidelined. IMG_0541 (1).HEIC

  11. I've had this wonderful speaker for about 3 years now, since I've migrated to the Legend Series KLF-20s I decided to get a C7 center which definitely matches much better. Its in good/very good condition, finish is still intact and one of the drivers has a slight crease however doesn't seem to impact sound at all. One peg was broken however has a screw inserted there and holds great to the speaker and no rattling. Would prefer meetup somewhat local as I understand shipping these guys generally requires a bit of prep regarding the horn and tweeter? I'm Inland Empire, CA but do travel to Southern OC every Friday afternoon to pickup my kids so can arrange meeting but of course can't throw some Watts at it to test in that case. Asking $500 $400, if price seems off please let me know guys, seems that is the going rate for C7s!!! EDIT - SOLD locally $375

  18. Greetings! I own a Rotel RA-1592MKII Integrated Amp with a phono input. I was advised that the phono stage in this Rotel is not very good so I purchased a Rega MM MK5 phono stage. I have done A/B comparisons and have not been able to hear any differences. The specs on the Rotel are phono input is 5.2mV and the Rega is 1.7 mV for 200mV output. They both have a 47k resistance on the phono input. Frequency response on the Rotel is 20Hz - 20 kHz +0.5 dB and the Rega is 15Hz (-3dB) to 100 kHz (-0.2dB). I'm not sure what other specs would be significant for comparison but any feedback or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! I should also mention that my turntable is a Rega Planar 3 with an Ortofon Bronze cartridge. Oh and of course Klipsch speakers!

  19. It's a great little amp with a very wide soundstage sounds a bit warmer than my Sunfire solid state amps but just as clear and detailed. Doesn't quite have the depth of the newer Carver tube amps but this one is very well built no circuit boards and double insulated wiring for safety. Also the finish is very nice makes my new BM-275 look very plain sitting next to it. This VTA-20 was able to power most of my speakers to fairly loud levels no problem in my 14x18 room with the exception of the KI-396-II's. It would would get them going pretty good just about as loud as I'd ever want but it seemed like it was straining a bit to get there with no room left in the volume. I looked up the spec on the 396's and they're rated at 600 watts RMS, 2400 watts peak so I think this little amp did quite well considering. My other speakers I've ran with it would play pretty loud no problems. I've got this on the Carversite as well along with a few other items figured I'd give people on the forums first chance at this kind of hard to find amp, this weekend I'll probably post everything on US Audiomart.

  31. Beware of the enablers! They lurk in many places in the Forum. They'll help you spend all your money, until your living room is full of giant speakers and your friends always want to party at your place, but there's only room for a love seat and an armchair, so they have to sit on some of the speakers, which is no problem, because they're that big. Also, as Coytee pointed out many years ago, La Scalas make excellent speakers for a guy in university, for a couple of reasons. First, they're too big to steal, and second, they're stable enough for drunk college girls to dance on them safely.

  32. 40Hz is still fine for all but maybe organ music. Low E on the bass is 41 Hz. And not all that many speakers dig very well below 40 either. I think it was Bell Labs in the `1930s that ran a lot of tests and concluded that "balanced freq response" was more important than extremes at either end. In other words, they reckoned that if you had eqaul octave above and below 1Khz, the sound was "natural." So, in this scheme 60Hz is 4 octaves below and 8Khz us 4 octaves above - so that sounds more natural than say, 60Hz to 20KHz. This "theory" they had was employed in telephonic circuits and for sure their old roatary phones sounded 1000% better on a phone call than a $1400 Apple phone does today. Anyway, where was I? Oh yeah....40Hz. When I was at ADC (makers of the famous QLM and XLM-II phono cartridges) they didn't try to go much below 40Hz either. I think when they made the Boron cantelever cart they got 32 Hz, but that's from my spotty memory of 1980.

  36. One thing is to test whether the remote is actually sending the IR signal or not. Use a cell phone camera to view the IR transmitter while pushing a button. I.e. aim the remote at the camera lens. You should see the IR LED blinking the signal as a white illumination on the cell phone screen. Test this on any known good IR remote too, just for fun. Amaze your friends. It is remarkable that the cameras are sensitive to infra-red and display it as white. At least mine does. WMcD
