  6. Today two huge Boxes arrived. One held a bunch of used Vinyl, the other this: Not just the manual but the TT as well. It´ s not presentable yet, but soon. Troth be told, I always thought I didn´t want a belt drive, but well... The chassis looks almost mint. It´ s missing the plinth and hood. A custom-made plinth is on the way, the hood will take some searching.

  8. It took multiple calls and reaching out to another part of the company, eventually I got the order canceled and I went back and ordered what I wanted. There should be an option on the site to allow to cancel. I get it, after it ships or past a certain point is impossible, but even the service rep had to email logistics to request cancelation. I love their products and just purchased a whole home theater system.

  19. I remember a game from childhood where they line up the class in a row and the first student reads a sentence to the next person, who then repeats it to the next person until it passes through the entire line. The last person to hear it then goes back to the first person to compare what they heard to the original sentence. It NEVER comes close to matching even when the students are told to repeat it exactly as they heard it. Too funny!

  21. I totally agree with you that even if you could refuse the shipment, that will get you nowhere in resolving the issue and getting your money back or the product you desire. It will most likely make the situation much worse for you. I was only commenting about the ability to refuse the shipment. I should have been clearer.

  22. 😂 You funny man - roughing it is not having hot coffee and cookies ready when I check in to a hotel. Having no HBO is the last straw -

  23. Engineers laugh over this stuff. HDMI cables require thicker cables as the amount of information transferred increases. Higher resolution needs thicker wire because so much is being transferred nowadays. If you are just transferring sound over a UBS, any decent cable should work. If you prefer a $700 cable because it is a small portion of the total costs, enjoy...

  25. I wanted to have a look in the interior of my KG4 speakers. Got them used and don't know if they've ever been opened up. Anyway in doing so, i damaged the "seal?" that holds the passive radiator in place. See pic. Is there a replacement? Is this needed?

  29. My stance on cables is well known in this forum. I do believe they are important and can be the icing on the cake in a system that is well sorted. All things being relative, I wouldn’t buy a 1k interconnect for a 2k system. So yes, a thousand dollars can be spent different ways depending on where you are with everything else. If you can’t hear an improvement with dacs, then amps, preamps and room treatment could be addressed. I am just of the mind that everything is important, just some things are more important than others.

  30. I was planning on driving up up to Lansdale, Pa this morning to drop off the woofer, but for the heck of it took all the woofers out, cleaned up the contacts, moved the woofers around to different spots, and that helped. Funny enough when I reconnected that woofer in another spot it still sounded bad, for some reason I decided to just screw them all back in and test everything one more time. I hooked them up to my Kenwood KR-7400 and a newer Marantz SR5008. Ran both my turntables and connected a cd player to the Marantz and played a few CDs. I don't get it, but they sound better. There is still a little distortion there, but not like it was was when I first hooked them up. I think I am going to hold off for now and focus on a couple of other things, like a silver faced receiver with at least 120WPC to see how they sound. There is a Pioneer SX 1050 local that I am going to check out. At that point I will make a decision on the woofer. I also need rubber feet or something to put under the spikes the speaker came with. Right now they are sitting on the floor.

  31. Gotta watch the gaggle hangin here. We think outside the box! 😂 Found this gem the other day. I ALWAYS thought people from Ohio would follow this guy a bit more than they did back in the day. He could go "Walshish" with the flip of a switch. Steve Winwood ALWAYS brought the heat in his subtle lil way. From his second LP "Nine Lives" and features EC in this tune "Dirty City." Stevie can ALWAYS give ya a nice ride. Ya think??? 😂 BTW, Ohio State got a lil help last night when USC got beat by lil ole Utah. We should be in the final four but the Natty Committee has to decide. "Haters gonna hate but it's Ohio against the world." 😂 O-H mate!

  33. I'm aware, but this was particularly bad because it involved legal issues, terms and conditions of e-commerce sites, credit card agreements, etc. that could cause someone to be really jammed up for a long time when the simple answer was right there.

  34. This usually will work only if sent signature required - and the deliverer actually insists on a signature, many times they don't care and will sign for you. Once upon a time many years ago you could call the carrier to refuse the delivery if they already left it ... and they would retrieve it and ship it back ... but these days just try and get UPS/FedEx, etc. on the phone. I dare you.

  43. I know it all seems high/crazy, and I'll agree with OP on the Heresy example, but I see it as the market knowing and realizing what they really are and worth to a degree (see Mac stuff 30 years ago). We said for years that these speakers (like Cornwalls, LaScalas, etc) were the greatest speaker deals on the planet with sound quality far exceeding their cost, and that was absolutely correct. Today, people are paying what they think they are worth, and given the performance it's hard to really argue - and I say all this full well knowing "the magic trick" of getting this stuff for pennies on the dollar years ago, while home designers were forcing the expulsion of Heritage to the favor of "sound cubes" and acoustic messes. Remember too that with the increase in price comes the "right buyer" ponying up the coin because they are close, or just the vintage the buyer wants, or whatever, and you then see what used to be outliers becoming the norm. The secret is out now and the market is speaking. So you can blame it on us crowding all up in here yapping for the decade of 2000-2010 about how good of a deal and how awesome these are and how it's crazy these are out of production. Well take a look at things now. Feel free to forward the commission check to this inbox (or said certificate for a free pair of Cornwall IV) for letting the world know what they were all missing, and for increasing the value in these precious assets and getting Klipsch back into the business of building a Heritage LINE. Just the fact they are building Forte IVs tells me they are making a big success of it. We told you so 🙂

  44. Watching some videos of Roy leads me to believe I could hang with Roy. Seems to be a beer drinking good old boy as we say down here in the deep south. Does not appear to put on airs with anyone even though he is an educated successful audio engineer. Seems like my kind of guy, one you can talk with and to. Those that know him and have hung out with him may want to comment if I am correct.

  47. Lots of CT120s have been installed in the Lascala II. Problem is that at some point Klipsch stopped squaring the corners of the cutout for the tweeter. The K-77D does not need them squared but the CT120 does. A few guys have fixed that in a couple of minutes with a file, but not a job for everyone. I do not know exactly when that change to the rounded corners happened but at least the first several years of production, there was not that problem. On another subject, lots of tweeters get blown in the Lascala II. I sell lots of diaphragms and K-77D tweeters to fix those. Problem is that, in my opinion the polyswitch is just not quick enough to operate and prevent damage when something really quick happens. The polyswitch has to heat up so is good for protection from high continuous power, but sudden high power or a quick transient just takes the 2 watt rated tweeter right out. Even in the olden days when the polyswitch was used in the old AL networks, when that network was used in the Pro version Lascalas, they put in zener diodes. Those will handle the quick transients. 48. With all wires disconnected, measure across the driver terminals with the meter set to read resistance. The K-77 should read around 6 to 8 ohms. The K-55 around 10 to 11 ohms. Now, this does not tell you if the driver is good or not, just lets you see if the voice coil is open or shorted. It can read good for resistance and still have other problems that keep it from working right.
