  1. I mentioned once that my daughter is a very talented illustrator. She painted a Christmas card for me. I think she did it very beautifully

  3. Just finished prep on the roast. Poked holes and inserted garlic, covered all sides in Kerrygold Irish butter, Susie Q spice blend, garlic and Rosemary blend. Cut off the bone and tied at the butcher's shop. I do the 500 degree method for 30 minutes, turn off oven and do not open the door till 120 internal temp, rest for 30 min. Seems to work well.......

  5. to the KC . 8.45pm here, we finished the holy evening dinner two hours ago . I was the chief and cooked the whole meal in the kitchen. Was a hard job , took more than 4 hours . I´m full now and don´t want to move again. I lay on the sofa streaming international christmas music , not loud just as backround music . This tune is called " rejoice christ child is coming soon "

  6. Merry Christmas my friends. Yes, been a while since my last visit I know. However, what better day to return the on Christmas! 🌲 So, this is my first spin since the UTurn was placed on the Bang and Olufsen system in the livingroom with Klipsch 600M on the stands. This recording was something that I dug out of my mum's library every Christmas morning before opening the gifts which customarily too place after a big breakfast. Burt Kaempfert 'Christmas Wonderland'... No release date, but most likely early 70ies AND monophonic on Decca still covered in original shrink .

  12. @Tarheelsometime when ya get creative put the finishing touch to it. Slice and dice some carrots, celery and onion for in the catch pan. Then pour a small bottle of Mateus over the roast, cover and fire things up. Let it go for a few hours in the oven basting whenever just don't ignore it. Crazy what a few veggies and a bottle of Mateus can do to a standing rib.. It'll make those apple plates look stellar!

  14. EDIT: Apologies, I misread your initial post, I mistakenly thought you had the 3200 rather than you were considering one. I just read some reviews of your amp. I stand by my initial thoughts, this amp gets really good reviews and seems tank solid. I wouldn't rush replacing it. Class A/B, well built and wired, with more power than you will realistically need. Very important as well are tone controls as well as a phono stage should you decide to get a turntable down the road. Looks like a pretty sweet amp I'd like to hear myself. https://www.stereophile.com/content/yamaha-s3200-integrated-amplifier

  16. And you as well, Merry Christmas to you and yours. Tonight is the last night of Hanukkah, I like it as all the candles are lit. My wife's brother (a Christian) is coming for dinner so we are doing a blended event, I'm making a full on proper Christmas turkey dinner and will pull out my Vince Guaraldi Trio Charlie Brown Christmas and Tony Bennet Christmas CDs for play.

  18. I agree totally. I’m only interested in horn loaded subs to pair with my La Scala’s. Thanks to you and Dave for all the first-hand experience. I just need to quit being lazy and start building. Merry Christmas guys!

  19. And a very happy Christmas to you too! Best wishes for a happy, healthy, and prosperous 2023, with horns in your past, present, and future! The bigger the better! Aside from horns, spare some love for your friends and family. We all need more of it. Let the love grid match the power grid, but with no blackouts, ever!

  20. In my experience after having about a dozen different subwoofers over the years (most recently dual SVS PB-12 NSDs), horn subs may underwhelm you at first. I think one reason for that is their lack of distortion. Most people are used to hearing the woofer distortion and the bloated mid-bass of cheaper subwoofers. Once you really sit down and listen, though, you can both hear and feel the different tones of instruments and things that they reproduce very faithfully. Then when you really open them up, they’ll punch you in the gut in a good way. I’m in a basement with thin carpet on a concrete floor so I don’t get any tactile feedback through the floor. But, there’s been times I’ve felt as though my couch is levitating off the floor because of the output of my THTs. They obviously take more work since you have to build them (although I got lucky and bought mine already built) but the return on investment is miles ahead of any commercial subwoofer you can buy. They’re also gigantic compared to other subwoofers so make sure you have a lot of room and aren’t going to upset any members of your household. 😄

  23. my 15 inch 25 year old Velodyne needs to be refoamed, so I am currently using a 10 inch Polk sub. Surprisingly is does a good job at normal listening levels crossed over at 120 it really fills in for the La Scala's, turn it up and it distorts quicly BTW my La Scala's are raised up to a level that the Squaker is at ear level not the Tweeter in my 17X22 room with 14ft ceilings and a listening position that is 14 feet away from the speakers which are about 11-12 feet apart. It has taken a lot of experimentation and out side of the box ideas but now the room is filled with music even if you are walking around, in addition the sound in other rooms is still very enjoyable. To each their own and always enjoy the Music

  24. Morning gang, Christmas Eve, -1°, just finished some eggs over easy, sweet potato hash browns, and chicken sausage. Now enjoying the French roast from Starbucks that was on sale at Costco for $13.99. Christmas tunes on the Cornwalls this morning. Speaking of cocktails, met a friend at a speakeasy this last week for a drink or two. Had a smoke old fashion that was smooth and nice to drink. For Christmas dinner I'll be firing the Big Green Egg up for some brisket and ham, having the family over, which hopefully results in us down at the bar in the basement with cocktails and music on the big rig.

  28. I have seen others audiophiles reviews on the cotton swab upgrade. Mixed reviews depending on the grade of swabs. However there is a company in California, “Spontip” that make an audiophile grade product that truly works. I purchased a pair for $1,800 and what a difference in SQ. Black background, wide soundstage, beautiful 3D imaging and incredible separation.

  30. Cotton swabs push earwax even deeper into the ear canal. This can cause blockages. Excessive cleaning also irritates the sensitive skin of the ear canal, so that eczema can worsen or inflammation can form there. Better is a spray like this ...

  33. Do you just spray this stuff in, and then forget about, while it does its work, or do you have to wait a few minutes, then drain away the cleaning liquid and any lumps it has loosened up?

  34. Bottom graph really doesn’t look too bad. If it were me, I’d EQ down the peaks at 53 and 74Hz and EQ up the dip at 58Hz to try and smooth out the 50 to 80Hz range.

  39. Hahahaha I've got a promo copy from Hanna Barbara and it's nothing but "drop-ins." Some funny sound effects on it. Both sides are just random sounds and cuts from all the characters. Now I'm gonna have to look for it. Found it... Prolly 1965 or so.

  40. Speaking of sounding like Genesis, or in in my post, sounding like Phil Collins: Seeing most of the other Albums here, this is pretty recent. The singer is Simon Collins and he just has his fathers voice.
