  1. Blaze of Glory is the tenth studio album by English rock and roll singer Joe Jackson, released in 1989. Jackson has stated that the album and the songs themselves were an examination of his generation as the 1980s were ending, ranging from the optimism of the 1950s ("Tomorrow's World") to the politics of terrorism ("Rant and Rave") and the Cold War ("Evil Empire"), to yuppies ("Discipline") and rockers who are well past their prime ("Nineteen Forever").The title track compares the legacy of a classic rock musician who died young ("...went out in a blaze of glory") with the current wannabes ("They're just cartoons" who "think they're Superman" but "can't even fly"). Although Blaze of Glory was a modest seller, the resultant single "Nineteen Forever" reached No. 4 in the US Hot Modern Rock Tracks charts. Jackson felt the album was one of his best efforts and toured to perform and support it with an eleven piece band in the U.S. and Europe from June to November 1989, and was disappointed with both the critical and commercial reaction as well as his record label's lack of support. All I can say ..it´s a great album from him !

  4. I have a few different revisions of the Amp Camp Amplifier for sale. Some of these I built for friends or family to try out Class A and some I built for fun with some spare heatsinks and parts and enjoyed for awhile. Every amplifier board was built with the same upgrades discussed in the below thread on DiyAudio from Tungstenaudio. The biggest different is the Power Supply configuration I used and I mentioned the differences below. https://www.diyaudio.com/community/threads/aca-amp-with-premium-parts.328357/page-4 Great way to enjoy Class A Nelson Pass on a budget! These amps are my favorite on Klipsch and I preferred them over all my tube gear including a Bob Latino VTA 120 I built. I also have a PassDIY M2x with all the populated daughter boards I built as Dual Mono I would consider selling. Single Amp Camp Amplifier (silver heatsinks): - Antek AS-2220 transformer with CapMX power supply - 26 Volt Rails - Red Oak stained faceplate - Approximately 12 watts per channel Class A - SOLD Dual Amp Camp Amplifier (large 4u 400m black chassis): - LED lights in picture are NOT as bright as they appear - Two Amps built into one large chassis - Black Powder Coated Faceplate - Two AS-2220 Transformers - Capacitor, Resistor, Choke, Capacitor Filtering - 24V Rails per channel - 54,000uf capacitors per amp board - Wired according to Nelson's 1.8 revision - 3 way switch for Parallel RCA monoblocks, XLR monoblocks, RCA Bridged Monoblocks, or to run 4 speakers in stereo - Approximately 20 watts Class A per channel as monoblocks and 10 watts per channel as stereo (depending on load) - Very large amp so shipping will be higher; asking $900 and ill ship for free All amps were built from used heatsinks or some that I had to cut to size on a bandsaw. Some of the heatsinks have some minor blemishes but it is hardly noticeable! Any questions, just ask.

  11. My understanding as well but why take a chance. Probably best not to have a signal though if turned on without load. Tubes still rule when it comes to sound. At least in my world.

  12. FWIW, here’s what I do. Terminate the speaker cables with banana plugs. Wire the amplifiers' speaker connections with banana jacks. In the attached photo, you can see the banana jack configuration in my TV room, where I have 4 speakers (main L&R, center, single rear), and 7 stereo amps. (Unfortunately, the jack panel that I use appears to be discontinued.) With the amplifiers powered off, you simply plug whichever speakers you want into whichever amp you want. I could explain how I handle input switching, however I don’t own an AVR, so my method isn’t relevant to you. (Does your AVR have pre-amp outputs that you can connect to your tube amp? Again, I have no experience with AVRs.)

  16. Again a day on which I don´t want to leave the house , extremely strong wind , wet cold . Am just p****d off at my daughter. I was just building new power cables and was waiting for the delivery of the plugs, these were delivered, were in the mailbox but my daughter just took them with her as she drove past the mailbox. Now she went shopping with the plugs and I have to wait until the lady is back here to finish the cable works

  19. Just a heads up- I ordered this 3x CD box from Amazon last August. https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Village-Vanguard-Recordings-1961/dp/B000AMJEKA/ref=sr_1_2?content-id=amzn1.sym.f03eb388-6553-42c1-88e5-7e00d0e3d16b&keywords=bill+evans+vanguard&pd_rd_r=f78e45ad-6e39-4559-81d5-c2bd0be17909&pd_rd_w=QMzPG&pd_rd_wg=BWtgF&pf_rd_p=f03eb388-6553-42c1-88e5-7e00d0e3d16b&pf_rd_r=GCYQ3PEHZHRH6K9H1KSS&qid=1672443528&sr=8-2 It had a 1 second glitch on one disc, I returned it but so did the replacement. They said keep it. I don't recall where the dropout is but it's really not a dealbreaker. It's possible current ones don't have it either. If you like Bill Evans, it's very good. I also couldn't beat the final price.

  20. The silver one I can read is a 40 microfarad non-polarized electrolytic. It says 110 volt but that is overkill for a speaker, you could get by with a lesser voltage rated one but keep the 40 microfarads the same. I can't make out the silver one on the right from your shot but it looks like an electrolytic as well. I would just replace those two first and see if it sounds better. Electrolytics are the ones that dry out and go out of spec. The other yellow ones are mylar or film caps and are PROBABLY OK.

  21. That won’t be to hard to get the complete output Andre They only released 3 albums 1 in 1978 - Your copy UK and 2 in 1979 - Danger Money and the Live album Night After Night I have all 3 and all worth it 🤘

  22. You will be happy with either speaker; I've owned Forte (series one) for over three decades, and nothing new under 5X their price sounds better to my ears. They are the most balanced, neutral, and accurate speaker for a medium-sized room you will find. I recently acquired a pair of Chorus IIs, and have been getting acquainted with them; I can say that they have the Klipsch "sound" inherent in speakers from that era - soundstage is large, the bass is "felt", and some of the larger instruments sound more live than with the Fortes. They do have a "sound" - a warmth in the midrange - that makes them not as neutral and accurate as the Fortes. I have moved my old speakers to "Front Wide" duty, not being able to part with them... it's nice to know that they are available if I ever decide I prefer them over the Chorus.

  24. I did a bit more research on the wonderful recording quality of Bill Evans Trio's 'Waltz for Debby'. Together with 'Bill Evans Trio live at the Village Vanguard' and 'Explorations', it forms a trilogy. Like most, if not all Riverside albums, the recording is of the highest quality. The set became legendary because of its sound quality, and also because the bassist, Scott LaFarro, died 11 days later, in a car crash. You can buy a box with The Complete Village Vanguard Recordings, 1961 also, if you like. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Complete_Village_Vanguard_Recordings,_1961 The recordings are lauded for their excellent quality: excellent bass, clarity, left/right channel separation etc. If you don't know it already, you should listen to it now! This is a live recording, and you can actually hear the people talk, drink and their glasses! Dave Jones was the recording engineer, and he is often credited for being responsible for 'some of the finest jazz recordings ever'. The weird thing is that after these recordings, he simply disappeared. Some say he became a worker for the National Post Service (!). He used good quality recording gear, and really good microphones, but the few pictures of him that exist, show a very messy setup! I found the pictures below HERE (Stephe Hoffman forum). The picture with the recording machines was uploaded by Chris Albertson, who also so took the picture. This was not at the Vilage Vanguard, btw. The second picture shows Bill Evans, with a member of the public in the foreground, whose glass plays a prominent role in the recording! And I just had to add this video too:

  26. Oliver Sayes 45 amp in walnut base. Only had a short time, great with Lascala, Khorn Altec and or bi-amping . I’m in Chattanooga Tn and I’m willing to meet someone in any of the 4 major cities within 2 hours from me. It can be demoed here and sounds incredible with a pair of zu speakers I have. I have the packaging that Oliver shipped it to me in. This is designed to use a preamp but my buddy recently tried it on his Altec 605 without a pre and say that it was the best amp he’s ever tried including his 2a3 monoblocks. I also used it driven by a node and got sufficient volume for the zu in my large open living space. This isn’t Oliver’s basic build it’s all premium parts. Below is the description from Oliver. The details, it’s a single ended 45 amplifier with 6n7 driver and 80 rectifier with ~1.7v input sensitivity for ~1.5 watt output. Parts are finemet core output/choke transformer, film power supply/cathode bypass caps, copper foil/paper/oil coupling capactors, carbon composite resistors, Teflon sockets, $1900

  27. I gave my old Cerwin Vega 380 SEs to my nephew a few years ago. To me the crossovers sound out of spec. Here is a picture of one of the Crossovers out of one of the speakers. Can anyone help me identify the capacitor types and values in this picture so we can replace them to bring them back to spec? Thanks in advance for any help any of you can provide?

  31. I had a similar problem... I ended up buying walnut Chorus 1's b/c I wanted the front ports, not a rear passive. I A/B'd my La Scalas & the Chorus for a few weeks... then I chose Chorus! (& sold my La Scalas) I'm STILL happy I kept the Chorus 1's over my LaScalas 3 yrs later.

  32. I would not worry about it the passive is more a tuning device, than radiator

  34. You raise a good point there. I can’t have rear passives due to placement/space issues. Keeps me from seeking Fortes though!

  35. "Heresy" - so named because many Klipsch originalists might consider it heresy for the company to have a speaker that was not fully horn-loaded, and need corner placement to shine. I'm unaware of "Hersey" being a word at all...

  36. Do hope everyone's well or getting better now. Took a vacation from the pc, except for music. Holidays aren't the best for me lately so I just kept my merino base layer on because 60 at the thermostat is more like 57 everywhere else in this hundred year old place. Using hundred watt hybrids for the past while. With the gain up it's 200w into 4 ohms... but I've got 8 and split with the sub it is good. Don't need `em turned up more than halfway most of the time. https://www.amazon.com/Douk-Audio-Amplifier-Subwoofer-Full-Frequency/dp/B08R3QN896 They were cheap a couple years ago, but with better tubes they are real nice to the baby Klipsch.

  38. I have a 100 watt tube PA head sitting in my living room at the moment. I think it uses 6550/KT88 for the output section. I’m planning on using it as an electric bass rig with the original pair of 4x10” vertical cabs.

  39. Yep....you have to hear it to believe. I heard it in (what I think was) his old house. Three LaScalas across the front and the imaging was stunning. He was playing 2-channel and the center sound was absolutely locked in. I took it upon myself to walk towards the center speaker and as I got four feet away....three feet away.... the sound "it" was providing gently widened and dissappated to the right and left channels. I've never heard imaging as strong as this setup. As I recall, he might (did I say might?) have gone a bit bonkers on the room treatments but the reality was, it worked very well. I've owned LaScalas for a couple years (43)and never felt slighted by them however, I did always lust after a pair of Khorns which was my introduction to the family.
