  5. My recently purchased lp of 'Waltz for Debby' is from the WaxTime Label. Apparently, a Spanish company releasing a lot of 'classic' jazz albums for a cheap price. The one I own is actually a well sounding lp. They also bring out a lot of color vinyl albums, and the quality of those is much less. They sell through mail order and supermarket chains. Apparently, they sell albums that are, in Europe, in the public domain. On the album, there is a logo that says: DMM: direct metal mastering, which says nothing about the source that was used, naturally. My other recent purchase, Maiden Voyage, is a genuine Blue Note album!

  8. My first winter in this house. It's rural. The water system has the ability to be run by a generator. And I've 2 sources,a well and a spring. All it takes is a couple valves and turn on a different pump. But frozen water presents issues it cannot cope with. I need to fix that. I'll be able to go "off grid" in the next year or so.

  14. Space lol.... if it weren't for space these would be a no-brainer for everyone. What I'm thinking is making a big circle.... go pick up the prior pair that I had then swing back by here to get these (or vice-versa) which would give me six double bass bins and whatever other things are included in this link. I texted seller earlier today, no reply yet.

  18. Just a heads up- I ordered this 3x CD box from Amazon last August. https://www.amazon.com/Complete-Village-Vanguard-Recordings-1961/dp/B000AMJEKA/ref=sr_1_2?content-id=amzn1.sym.f03eb388-6553-42c1-88e5-7e00d0e3d16b&keywords=bill+evans+vanguard&pd_rd_r=f78e45ad-6e39-4559-81d5-c2bd0be17909&pd_rd_w=QMzPG&pd_rd_wg=BWtgF&pf_rd_p=f03eb388-6553-42c1-88e5-7e00d0e3d16b&pf_rd_r=GCYQ3PEHZHRH6K9H1KSS&qid=1672443528&sr=8-2 It had a 1 second glitch on one disc, I returned it but so did the replacement. They said keep it. I don't recall where the dropout is but it's really not a dealbreaker. It's possible current ones don't have it either. If you like Bill Evans, it's very good. I also couldn't beat the final price.

  23. Also, try sitting farther back. Those horns need some distance to integrate. That alone will make the soundstage more holographic. Don’t worry about a perfect triangle.

  28. Thank You billybob. (and everyone too!) We discussed this (son) some time ago because I have 2 Heresy II's I was ready to give him. The problem with his 'new' house is that it too is the typical fireplace on the middle of the wall where the 'system' should go, or the only place it would have even worked at all in a living room including nice large windows. He's having to place his large panel tv above it. Seems a trend that sucks for this. He has a thick, real wood shelf above the fire place and will be putting a smaller center on it and directly below the bottom edge of the tv. Luckily, the shelf is not all that high above the fire box, sure have seen much worse for this. The tv much lower than most, but still safe from heat and of course fire. He ordered the new Forte 4's recently and man they sure are purty! Distressed oak with blonde grills. He has ordered among the new line of Klipsch in black for the center and rears. Larger bookshelves and the center as large as he could.. Going to take some adjusting for sure. We just hope close enough~ Hope all is good with you and yours billybob~👌

  30. I have a question about new classic jazz albums. I was looking into Kenny Burrell's Midnight Blue on Amazon (Europe), and they listed several versions, all with different prices (and sellers, I guess). Of course, this is great music, but the user reviews were a mixed bag. Some buyers were complaining about the bad quality of some pressings. In fact, Amazon's review system throws all the user reviews together, whether it was a CD, an LP etc. Then I noticed in the details of the different LPs that they had a different record label. One user complained that it was obvious that his pressing was a bad copy ripped from some CD. How can this be? Are these illegal copies, or is this music 'licensed' to whatever distributer?

  32. Again a day on which I don´t want to leave the house , extremely strong wind , wet cold . Am just p****d off at my daughter. I was just building new power cables and was waiting for the delivery of the plugs, these were delivered, were in the mailbox but my daughter just took them with her as she drove past the mailbox. Now she went shopping with the plugs and I have to wait until the lady is back here to finish the cable works

  33. Blaze of Glory is the tenth studio album by English rock and roll singer Joe Jackson, released in 1989. Jackson has stated that the album and the songs themselves were an examination of his generation as the 1980s were ending, ranging from the optimism of the 1950s ("Tomorrow's World") to the politics of terrorism ("Rant and Rave") and the Cold War ("Evil Empire"), to yuppies ("Discipline") and rockers who are well past their prime ("Nineteen Forever").The title track compares the legacy of a classic rock musician who died young ("...went out in a blaze of glory") with the current wannabes ("They're just cartoons" who "think they're Superman" but "can't even fly"). Although Blaze of Glory was a modest seller, the resultant single "Nineteen Forever" reached No. 4 in the US Hot Modern Rock Tracks charts. Jackson felt the album was one of his best efforts and toured to perform and support it with an eleven piece band in the U.S. and Europe from June to November 1989, and was disappointed with both the critical and commercial reaction as well as his record label's lack of support. All I can say ..it´s a great album from him !

  35. I have a 100 watt tube PA head sitting in my living room at the moment. I think it uses 6550/KT88 for the output section. I’m planning on using it as an electric bass rig with the original pair of 4x10” vertical cabs.

  36. Old thread, but I finally bought a house, renovated it (mostly so far) and got the system settled. I added some power and these is indeed a pretty big difference. 200wpc now. A friend and I did A/B test it. It really does sound more alive.

  42. Finally got around to updating a pair of Type AAs with new caps and Bob’s 3636 autotransformers, which permit approximately 1db adjustments of the squawker output. Despite having Bob’s handy pdf chart (a copy of which is linked in Bob’s post in the linked thread), a question remained. A Saturday afternoon email to Bob received a reply within 12 minutes. The Klipsch community is extremely fortunate to have the gracious unflappable expertise of Bob @BEC. The linked thread is a reminder of how important people like Bob and Dennis, aka djk, are. It’s too late to express gratitude to Dennis, but not to Bob. Thank you.
