  1. On Dec 28 2005, I lost my first wife to Malignant Melanoma. She was a very special woman, and I know our three children miss her dearly. I know I miss her, even though I've remarried and feel blessed with my new life partner. So, for Josh (Invidiosulus), I think of her all the time. For all, love your family while you can, and never forget them when they are gone. Happy New Year!

  6. Like that one... my kind of dancin' music a la UFO! Winter/Deep Freeze, Dying to Meet You fit with what I meant. The Sad Wings of Destiny release might just be my favorite of theirs! Just so different from their 80s onward power chord, hair band rock... though I like that too! Saw them prior to 1980 twice and they were awesome in every sense of the word!

  7. And now for something completely different: https://www.discogs.com/de/master/211611-Various-Funk-You I like this 80´s stuff and I´m greatful to a member on the Dual Board who pointed me towards this.

  8. New Year's is a big deal in HI.. even on Kauai, at midnight, it was like being in a tin shed during a hailstorm..... Driving around Lihue in the AM, the streets were completely covered in red firecracker papers.

  9. I picked up a pair of 1979 Heresy 1 a few weeks ago. Was driving them with my Topping PA3s and began to understand why everyone says they've no bass. I could hear it clear but there was no body to it. Crisp and clear-no presence. A Klipsch KG SW sub became available here. Figured that would cover it and I'm sure it will. Also spent the past few weeks on placement and got it where I was OK with soundstage...OK maybe a little disappointed. So I began looking at amplifiers. Torn between Yamaha A-S801 and Schiit Vidar. In the end the cost between would be similar 'cause I'd need a pre for the Vidar. Last night I was sitting around and decided to bring my Fisher 440T out from the bedroom system and see how they sounded when paired with the old Fisher. The 440T is the reason I sought vintage Heresy anyways. Oh my! They have come alive....bass....soundstage gained height width and depth. And the overall sound is much improved. Lost some way high detail and there's a hiss but it's minor and only audible when nothing is playing so I can deal with it. For now. Kinda like going to a concert and the PA set up has some hiss. And all this is through a cheap Logitech bluetooth adapter which I'm sure isn't the best audio path. I'm still going to pick up the sub 'cause I want a passive sub that will extend the range but not one made more for HT. I'm beginning to understand synergistic pairings. Now what to do for the bedroom......

  10. Right Back Atcha @MEH Synergy Midnight was a dud this year, think the 8 to 10 pm was where all the large diameter shells got set off. Kids to sleep early or the rain... not sure. Low clouds & weeklong 100% humidity did mess up some of the higher bursting ones though.

  16. I won't be able to go to sleep until it quiets down at 1 or 2 tonight! All the guests from central america set off BIG fireworks for birthdays, mayday, Christmas and ever since it got dark this eve at least 40 to 60 biguns an hour here! Got a pair of NYStrips this morning for a decent $9/lb the skinny one got to rare and I put it in a second cornbread (qt buttermilk makes two) plus my veggies weren't going to last forever. Better one is in the fridge for tomorrow.

  20. I guess my venison chili was good... the bread, too. I got a serving of chili and one slice of bread before "they" [the kids] showed up, unexpectedly, and ate.... everything. 2 loaves of bread and a pot of chili... no leftovers. Making bread, again. Venison stew today. I know how ya feel, George... I've been in the kitchen for.... since Christmas. Made cheese and apple biscuits for wife's church group this AM. I wish I could gain 2 kg... Ain't happening. The only way I can gain weight, is to grow my hair. ...if it wasn't AZ, I would say the weather is ugly. Rain, wind... but, we can always use precipitation... and the roof isn't leaking. So, it's a good day

  21. We just finished the New Year's dinner. I´ve cooked again . There was rump steak, potato gratin and rutabaga in vegetable cream stock. In addition, a German red wine. Am full. In the time between Christmas Eve and today I´ve gained a good 2 kg in weight. But that's okay because anyway I'm not overweight. I wish you a happy New Year's Day

  22. Heresys don’t have a ton of bass but the bass they have is very accurate and well-defined. When I DJed a dance a few weeks ago I used all five of my Heresys and had my Sony receiver set to All Channel Stereo and the bass turned to +3 for each speaker. They sounded fantastic and even in the very large venue we were at the bass was more than adequate.
