  3. Got a new phono pre today, it´s a british Trichord Dino MK III with external power supply , now I have 2 tube phono and 2 ss phono stages With its dewy, very lively and always driving sound, the small Briton quickly reveals itself as a well-balanced, transparently audible phono preamplifier, which does not rely on effects and which practically nowhere can be proven to be negligent. ... And finally it convinces completely by its always pearly appearance. Conclusion: "Anything but a diva, but a certainly often underestimated, cleanly tuned flexible phono preamplifier that makes no mistakes. Neutral with precise bass, good dynamics and fine spatial representation, low-noise and transparent. "This gives it an insider tip status.

  6. Hard Nose the Highway is the seventh studio album by Northern Irish singer-songwriter Van Morrison, released in 1973. It is his first solo album since his 1967 debut Blowin' Your Mind! to contain songs not written by Morrison.

  15. A really big shout out to nickyboy6100. He was gracious enough to part with a set of upgraded La Scalas. My husband has been really enjoying them... Let me go way back...I saw Floyd in Concert at the Milwaukee County Stadium...last minute tickets...it was raining...we got there just as the bands were changing...'seated' on the concrete steps (yeah security made us move a number of times)...but under the overhang...facing center stage...concert was late starting because of the downpours...when they came on stage they started with the not yet released 'Shine on you Crazy Diamond'..when those four solo guitar notes were played the world stopped. Stadium was sooo quite... Then those drums...--after playing that album, they then played the Dark side album--- When they got to the line 'see you on the dark side of the moon' the clouds parted..there was a just risen full moon...centered over the venue ....seriously I hope to never forget that memory. Nickyboy6100..I thank you from the bottom of my heart, as I just listened to "Shine On" on the La Scalas....brought it all back--goosebumps.

  18. Made an adulting purchase today. I wasn't looking to buy yet, but knew it would come in the next year. This popped up on my feed and was basically new. The guy I got it from was needing the money pretty bad, so I went and picked it up. We've been cutting down trees in our yard and now we'll be able to have grass. So far, 44 trees cut in the front yard. Probably have another 60+ to go for the the back of the property and what I still want to take out of the front. When we moved in 4 months ago (I just had started cutting trees): 2 weeks ago (I've since burned the slash moved half of the wood to our wood pile: My CRD Jeep continues to put in work! Also got my PRI 2022 splurge purchase... A set of wireless corner scales. I've been weighing everything, just because. The screen was damaged, but they sent me another one to replace this: Took in an abandoned dog after he found himself on our property. He's a sweet boy, but we have two other dogs, so now we're looking for a forever home for him. If I didn't have two dogs, I'd keep this one... 3 is too much for us.

  19. Veedon works too. I'm partial to that lp though. Back in the 70's a DJ friend told me he was gonna be playing unannounced in Dayton, Ohio at such & such bar and wanted me to come down so I did. This bar was truly a such & such bar. Small, decent bar w/a couple people working. I thought no way, not in this place cause it was just a lil bar w/room for maybe 100 people. We hooked up and I told him he was crazy and told him there was no way it was coming down. He just said don't ask anyone and watch. An hour later he walked in with his guitar. He pulled up a chair and sat down in the back to play. That was it. Zero entourage, nooooo body and all alone. Pretty much stayed that way all evening. Just locals and him. Crazy night but we both loved it. He did the entire album that night along w/some other stuff he liked. No autographs, no pics, nada. Just him playing and enjoying himself w/people he didn't even know. How or why he was there I don't know. My buddy said people at the station mentioned it but no one showed up. How they found out I'll never know. I wound up spending the night and had to buy breakfast. Crazy but killer. Wish I knew WHY he was in Dayton. If ppl had cells the place would have been wall to wall. All I got was a handshake. He said he just felt like playing there. Crazy.

  29. I hadn't heard of the brand prior to the sale post in the local buy/sell page on FB, so I did some research and thought it would be a pretty solid buy off of that. My wife said here dad said it was a good buy as well. He had much more experience with this stuff. I haven't had to mow grass in almost a decade since I lived in the mountains when I went back to Colorado. They guy who sold it was pretty enthusiastic about it, other than having to sell. He went over everything with me, to include the initial oil change, and documentation on it, to include the receipt from the local store in his name. Right before I started taking off, he stopped me and wanted to give me the branded oil for it. I had actually talked him down a little on price, but after talking with him for about 30+ minutes and hearing his story on why he had to sell, I ended up going back to the car and grabbing additional money to pay him original asking, which was still a really good buy (once a haggler, always a haggler). We were originally getting a little sketched out when driving there as he was out in the middle of nowhere, here in Arkansas. All worked out and I might be hiring him for drywall work in the near future.

  31. My ‘89 Suzuki Carry needs a water pump. The engine is underneath the drivers/passenger seat and I’m not really looking forward to trying to access it. The water pump on my old Volvo wasn’t too bad. I think I did one on my Kia Rio the first time I did the timing belt. The replacement timing belt on the Kia ended up letting go and bent a couple valves in the process so I had to replace the head. Not a terrible job but fwd stuff tends to be kind of cramped.

  33. I watched a Mick Dodge.... roughing it on the Olympic Peninsula [WA]. He went night fishing for salmon. He caught one, of course.... it came out of the water gutted and gilled. most of the drama is made for tv. It eclipsed fresh this AM.... Accuweather said 21`F. I don't know where the get their readings, but, it is usually 5 - 10` higher than here. It did make 53`....still cold for us. Average is 65 - 70.. I hate cold boy is still working on his water pump. He did find the hole for the extra bolt. It was to the alternator bracket. Now he's working on coolant leaking from hose connections.

  34. You can´t use this chassis. It is a full-range chassis with an FQ from 39 Hz > 16 KHz. A full-range loudspeaker driver is defined as one that reproduces as much of the audible frequency range as possible, within the limits imposed by the physical constraints of a particular design. The frequency range of these drivers is maximized by, among other things, the use of a whizzer cone. Depending on the manufacturer, these drivers have a frequency response from about 40 Hz to 20 KHz. But you can use an 8 Ohm Dayton Audio RS225P-8A 8" Reference Paper Woofer , but they have 6 screw holes & the originals only have 4 , you may screw new 2 holes into the cabinet . They cost approx. $ 70 each . Here´s the link https://www.daytonaudio.com/product/1420/rs225p-8a-8-reference-paper-woofer-8-ohm

  38. I’m pulling for the duck tape. @Edgar Greg, does a conductive screw, brass or aluminum also create potential for change in this application? Does the higher inductance measured with the ferrous screw correspond with the 1kHZ change in the crossover that was measured? Does the change match up with what one would expect on paper/XO calculator? if the lab standard had a brass/non-ferrous screw it would seem that this could get by for a long time, depending on how sensitive the “Tested by” equipment was at the time.

  40. Bottom line, if you want to talk about mods and your own “upgrades” then please go somewhere else. There are plenty of other sites. By the way I read the posts on other sites so I see the complaining. there should have never been a “modification” section on the forum. Back when a forum was being discussed, I strongly opposed it. Paul W Klipsch was NOT in favor of modding his speakers and I wanted to make sure that a forum bearing his name would not have a “modification” section. I know that the forum went ahead with the “modification” section but here recently, this has gotten out of hand. So if you don’t agree with this, sorry. Mods and so called upgrades are not allowed on the klipsch forum anymore. I’m locking the thread and please don’t start other threads on this.

  41. I’ll locate and attach some audio files sent to me by Dave Mallette (he pronounced it Ma’ let, rather than like a mallet). He was working on an interesting recording and playback scheme that utilized a Dynaco Quadaptor. His experiments were so interesting it prompted me to acquire and refurbish a Quadaptor to replicate his experiments. Through phone conversations and emails, Dave eagerly shared his knowledge and experience, Unfortunately, things went wrong in Dave’s life in the end and virtual friends were unable to provide the support he needed and deserved.

  42. I use the last 18 years the combination C22CE with MC275. For me an absolute all-rounder, there are no desires open, very subtle at low volumes as Klipsch speaker they need, my Lascala, and at the same time powerful and authoritative on various speakers, even those around 86 dB sensitivity when the impedance is light. So I can recommend Mcintosh. But now comes the second part of this post. Because I reactivate my jubilees I wanted to have two equal amplifiers and I remembered an amp that I already had 34 years ago. A Quad 306. so i first bought only one amp on ebay. What can I say, I am absolutely thrilled. The secret of the Quad is the current dumping principle. Even at very low volumes, the power amp sounds as good as a tube, even the comparison with the MC275 is not completely exaggerated, on the one hand British and discreet, on the other powerful and very amazing spatial. At a used price of 330€ including shipping within the EU. The Queens Award-winning principle (the highest award in the UK for technical innovation, and the only one ever given to an audio device) is based on the fact that a very small but very high quality Class A amplifier determines the sound, without crossover distortion, and the power transistors function only as current „dumpers“. Quasi a powerful Class A power amplifier with the use and the longevity and the low and volume adapted power consumption of Class B. Very good also just on horn speakers. Quad was very often combined with Tannoy in the UK. And for those who don't know the brand, Quad amps played in every BBC studio. So I also bought a Quad 34 pre amp for the fun of it, and I could discover two impressions. First, I never heard in the past the power amp with something else than the 34 pre amp. That was a mistake. The 306 on its own combined with a high resolution pre amp is awesome plus it is one of the most noise free sand amps I know about which is very important when you drive such high sensitive speakers like a Cornwall. A warning note, the Quad 306 has a "modern" low input impedance, as does my second Mcintosh amp, an MC2102, namely only 20 kohms. That is why I can not run the Quad with my C22CE pre, the bass would be too thin. But with my E.A.R. 864 pre, which has output transformers! as impedance converter it goes very well. The impression of the Quad 34 pre for the first time after 30 years: Not so tangy, not the most transparent pre, but one of the most musical I have ever known. And the best...simply a completely fatigue-free long-term fascination. I have become older wiser and more mature, I no longer run after the last ounce of resolution, I like fatigue-free pleasant music. One word if the Quad 306 power amp would be a serious alternative, you can internally adjust the input sensitivity very easily by swapping R1,R2 and C1....from 0.35 V now to 1.25 V for example. Anyone who has heard this small Quad 306 with 50 watts at 8 ohm will be amazed, no exaggeration! And a real all-rounder. Another benefit: there are no trimpotis or other adjustment needs, you do not have to match power transistors, it only needs four new PSU electrolytic capacitors after 35 years. This units are really small and neat looking in my view.
