  8. For sale is a custom made Aric Audio EL84 amplifier. 15 watts of EL84 goodness. I compared this to the Music Reference RM-10 II and the Aric came away the winner. It is in excellent condition and comes with NOS Mullard tubes in every position. This amp is just incredible with horns. Asking 1200.00

  9. I eluded to these in my other listing for my La Scalas, but I thought I should maybe have a separate ad for these. I took delivery from Dean this past July and they have been used hardly at all as my LS are in a 2nd system. As always, Dean did a fantastic job on these and his craftsmanship is very evident! With all the parts and Dean's work, I have approx. $1,700cnd or $1,250usd into them. Asking price is $1,100cnd ( $800usd ) plus shipping if required. PayPal, F&F PS: price is CND, so that is a 38% discount in USDs. Dean's Xovers could be shipped, or... If timing is right and we can save some shipping expenses: I will be in Lansing, MI next weekend (May 17-19) for a softball tournament and could bring with me for those that might be interested. Or In Knoxville/Nashville, for another tourney (May 31 - June 04). Thanks for looking, Tom

  12. Opened the fuse holders and found corrosion in the springs, cleaned and sanded with 400 grit and the woofer and mid are back- tweeter is now there but low output- it ohms out at 7.6 ohms. Wiggled the polyswitch and no difference. I'll keep my questions to myself, thanks for the assist.

  13. He veneered the top and sides of the boards. I felt like I was doing surgery. I covered as much of the veneer as possible while soldering. I also charged for the autoformers and extra for packing since they were going across the border. I think actual labor was $200 per board. He’s basically selling for cost of the parts. Pretty good deal from where I’m sitting.

  14. @billybob that's outta the shoe box for sure. Been forever but ur sneaky like that. Then there's @JohnJ right behind ya? @Marvel I can honestly remember that happening. EVERYone had said he was done and I never heard anymore after that. That would be an ultra cool moment for sure. Now I guess I know. Thanks for that. Somewhere in Southern Cali maybe? Can't remember. Maybe down in there close to Mexico. Not thinking it was Hunington beach but maybe. I know I heard that mentioned but I was more focused on what happened to him. It was just crazy trying to figure out how it could have happened.

  15. Socked in around here for the most part last nite with rain rolling thru. Could see some of it here in Sherwood Forest. Might take a road trip out in the country. Had to roll out at zero dark thirty this mornng to be at some kid's fishing clinic at a local industrial complex where they have a huge pond to fish in. Neighbor conned me into it since, as the former mayor of Duckburg, he had a vision 30 years ago and started it. Usually 40-50 youngins there on a nice day. He has inoperable cancer and is kinda lobbying to get the pond or derby or whatever named after him. So he pulled out the big gun. Seriously? Just what I needed. Rain started right on schedule @ 730. Two hours standin out there craving more coffee talkin to a cop, state trooper and my neighbor on a mission from God. Oh yea, MAYBE 15 kids and parents. FINALLY some 5 year old brought his fish up for show and tell 2 hours later. Mission accomplished! There was my milk carton kid for the pic! Everyone's happy but Jimmy Olsen cause all I got was a few thanks and a cold. 😂 I know. Adjust your attitude. Was kinda cool though, New lil Zebco kids poles and all the bait furnished? Really great for people though IF they like to fish. Just a typical Ohio spring day. I don't want anything named after me when I check out. Imma gonna hold out for a statue that someone can remove someday. They'd prolly have me listening to a pair of 901's. 😂 2AM and I want a slushie too!

  18. New to the forum. I recently upgraded to RF8000F II's and they sound great. I am looking to upgrade to a receiver that can handle 4 ohm speakers ( I have a build project for speakers that will be 4 ohm ). While the Klipsch 8000's are about as "bright" as I would like them to be, I want a receiver that does not enhance treble. So I am looking for receivers that are quite neutral across the spectrum. So far I am considering the following: Yamaha R-n800a , Denon DRA-900H, Cambridge AXR100, and Emotiva BASX T1. Any thought or experiences with pairing the new RF8000's would be appreciated. Stan

  27. I did use ASC tube traps (16” diameter x 48” tall) with Forte III, Chorus II and my current non-Klipsch speakers. My comments refer to the original ASC tube traps, not the new isothermermal traps. I have no experience with those. The tube traps are very effective if your room needs them. My room without treatment has very boomy bass in some places and other areas with bass suck-out where the bass disappears. The bass traps improved the bass quality. Bass became tighter, more focused and even. The ASC also have some diffusion built into one half of the round so if you want you can add degrees of diffusion. I found however, that I didn’t care for the diffusion and turned the traps so the diffusion wasn’t used. All this being said, the ASC traps are quite expensive and I “cashed out”, selling them and replacing them with much less expensive GIK corner traps that overall are just as effective. I have since added a GIK 244 bass panel on a back wall and that has helped even more with the quality of the bass.

  28. I've considered these as well. Currently in my rear corners I've been using GIK 244 absorption panels straddling the corners acting as bass traps. Wonder if these tubes would be an improvement....

  36. This past week we had a visitor where I work. I got to meet Eddie Tuduri, a drummer. I think maybe one of the most humble people I have ever met. He started a program using rhythm to help people with injuries, on the spectrum, tons of things. He had snapped his neck when body surfing many years ago, and getting his body to move again helped tremendously in his healing. Oh, need to add that he's played with Delaney Bramlett, Bobby Whitlock, The Beach Boys, Dobie Gray, Del Shannon, Rick Nelson and the Stone Canyon Band, Dr. John, Ike Turner, “Boxer,” Ronnie Hawkins, The Down Child Blues Band, “Chilliwack,” The Five Man Electric Band, Brenda Russell, Wha-Koo, Bill Champlin, Marianne Faithful, Martha Reeves, John Stewart, Steve Perry, Kenny Neal, Tata Vega, Ronnie Laws, Englebert Humperdinck, Dwight Yoakum, Johnny Rivers, Freddy Fender and Charlie Rich, Michael McDonald, Jimmy Messina and JD Souther to name a few. I don't have a video to share, just thanks to someone with a big heart.

  39. I've always been a fan of Bob and he was always a blast to talk to. I guess I've known him for about 35 years now and still email on occasion. I have an M-1.0t amp signed by him (in avatar pic) and a picture of him with it somewhere in my files. The rep firm I worked for from 2001 till 2009 represented Sunfire and Elan (home control) and we had an event called, "A Night With Bob Carver". It was a great time and dealers came from all around with various pieces for him to sign.

  41. Thank you for your post! Comparing set ups like that can drive people crazy... Personally, my 1972 Heresy speakers hooked on my Leben CS300 is my personal reference system. I'm not saying this is the best system in the world, but for me, it works best and is 'easy listening', while I'm totally 'zen' with the fact that there are better amps and speakers out there.

  42. Selling my cherry RC-7 from an upstairs system because I just don't use it much anymore. By and large it is in good shape and sonically spot-on, but I want to be upfront about all of the cosmetic blemishes (high res pics at link below which highlight the issues): a couple of light scratches on the top and each of the cones has a small wrinkle (esp. left one you have to get the light just right to see it). The grille has all of the pegs intact but has some of the grille plastic lattice broken slightly; with that being said once installed on the speaker it is still stiff (doesn't give when you push it in any area) and not distorted or anything crazy like that. Original box, bag, and instapak/foam, although I'd really prefer not to ship it as it's big and heavy and expensive. Zip 30188 Atlanta metro area. I'd love to get $400 (OBO), so go ahead and get yourself an early Christmas present! Pics, pics, pics: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/ltgimd248aii5p9/AAD-fLMcAdjVsBftVnkqLbfEa?dl=0

  44. Us Klipsch guys must have a good sense of humor. I saw it in the theater with about 10 of my friends and I was the only one who liked it. I have a Seinfeld-sense of humor though rather than those with a Friends-ish sense of humor. I'm definitely gonna buy it.

  45. I was disappointed. Maybe it was because everyone had already told me what a great movie it was and how much I would like it. I thought the plot was really linear and predictable. I thought the soundtrack distracted from the movie. The gunshots in DTS were worth the rental (i.e. Netflixing).

  46. Well I've been a good boy this year so I decided to treat myself to a Christmas present. I picked up a Denon 2900 dvd/universal player at a local Tweeter for $500 including tax. So far seems like a great unit, does a little of everything and does them pretty well. Build quality is quite nice too, the thing is solid and stands as tall as my HK receiver and Parasound amp. My only SACD, Beethoven's 9th (Telarc multichannel) sounds beautiful, I'm going to have to pick up some more high-rez recordings. For starters I'll get Metallica "Black Album," STP "Core," Flaming Lips "Yoshimi..", and Bjork "Vespertine." I was wondering though, how do you guys do bass management for stereo redbook cds? When I was running digital into my pre/pro/receiver from the old dvd player, I ran the main's full range AND copied info below 60Hz and sent it to the sub. Seems like all I can do with the Denon is either 1) run them full range minus sub, or 2) run the mains as small and cut info below 80Hz to the sub? What about this "Bass Enhancer" thing? The manual, while lengthy, isn't very specific about what certain options do.

Darren Aronofsky's other recent picture Requiem for a Dream is simply one of my favorite movies ever. You can buy these two films bundled together at Best Buy for like $10.
