Yep we have had rain for about two weeks straight. Little tired of it. Happy to see the yard guy got my grass cut and then as I get back to LF's place her yard folks were finishing up. Doesn't take much to excite me these days. Heck I was even happy to see the bug man come to spray the critters.4 points

Not much... the last bloodwork I had (in July) was good enough that the urologist told me I don't need to come back unless I feel like I NEED to see them. The radiation oncologist sent a letter that has a Jan. 2025 appointment date. So they've lengthened how often we meet. So I'm feeling pretty good.4 points

Hi, folks. I have a Marantz Model 18 receiver for sale. I have recapped it entirely and have added several of the factory mods. It also has a new scope tube. This is my personal unit I am selling. Feel free to PM me with any questions, but please follow the rules of this forum. You can see the receiver on Fleabay here: https://www.ebay.com/itm/176505682639 And on YouTube here: I also have another Model 18 parts unit, with a good transformer in it. That is NOT listed on eBay, but if you need it, PM me here. Thanks, Scott.3 points

Good to hear! Got the official okie-dokie from my eye-mama today. Said things looked great so I mentioned the black spot in the middle of my eye was shrinking just like she said it would. Then told her I was skeered sheetless but we'd been together soooo long I knew she wouldn't screw up. So she was laffin big time at me. Right eye prolly in September sometime but that's a guess. 20/20 in the left today and 20/65 in the right. I actually thought it was the better of the two prior to surgery. Today I couldn't see squat out of it. 😂3 points

More of the same for me... Car parts... I tried to like the OEM brakes with upgraded pads, but just didn't like them. With my AutoX wheels/tires, I couldn't even activate ABS and the brake feel wasn't great.2 points

We told you not to mess with Nanoock ! And the husky wee-wee I mean the doggie wee-wee Has blinded me And I can't see Temporarily" Well, the fur-trapper stood there, with his arms outstretched across the frozen white wasteland, trying to figure out what he was going to do about his deflicted eyes. And it was at that precise moment that he remembered and ancient Eskimo legend, wherein it is written (on whatever it is that they write it on up there) that if anything bad ever happens to your eyes as the result of some sort of conflict with anyone named Nanook, the only way you can get it fixed up is to go Trudging across the tundra Mile after mile Trudging across the tundra Right down to the parish of St. Alphonzo2 points

Was playing some teddy from free-for-all. But talking with my real brother that I just met five or six years ago here? Had to switch to something more laid back to get the bp down. 2024 - don't chit chat with someone on the "other" side of politics in the 11 pm hour 🙉! Here's what I came up with, my bookmark was dead but not the search. Little Feat – Electrif Lycanthrope Live At Ultra-Sonic Studios, 1974 (2021, Vinyl) - Discogs At Discogs it's on the right, down a little. My tubes broke in the other day and the 301's are ALIVE now! 2 I actually have a thick pine table top that is about the correct thicknesses for a tele style body. It has sentimental value for our family though, so I will not be cutting it up.2 points

Hey Denis I'm going off of Google translate. Yes, the crossovers are attached to the terminal cup, where you connect the speaker wires. Unfortunately, they are probably a total loss. Too bad, they are great sounding speakers. Good luck with the insurance. Mike1 point

My Heresy have been with me since college. Bought them in Rochester, N.Y. I forget the year. Maybe 1977 but have added the stamped numbers from the perimeter of the case. My Sticker on the back of each are blank but the inspection signature of NW Bradford. My first post or would have uploaded the image of each. 46R298 MS USA/46R299 USA I've looked over many Heresys but most do not seem finished as mine with the 1/4 round front edge. Curious if this was done in a specific year such as 1977 but not others. I think they really are wonderful looking. Mine are birch veneer that I simply rubbed some Johnson's Paste Wax on. For 24 years the speakers have been in my living room and sadly one near a window, so the top surface had discolored and darkened where exposed and got splashed a little during a rainstorm when the window was ajar. In any case I was able to use a grey pad and a sheet of 220 and carefully removed the discoloration. Unfortunately, I was unable to source Johnson Paste Wax any longer and others like Trewax are clear, where JPW a slight yellow tone. Grabbed a tin of Griots Carnuaba from the garage and tested a spot. Good enough. Much less time intensive than refinishing both cabinets and going a more involved refinishing. Altogether they are very clean. 2 tiny scuffs at the base rear of one. Hard to believe is all after all these years. Replaced a couple of velcro pads and replaced the #6/32 1/4in screws in back. The pair will be with me for many more years of enjoyment.1 point

I'm looking to get into a pair of cornwall ii's. I'm in the Boise, ID area and listening to them on Thursday (2 days from now). I've always had speakers (Polk Monitors, Kipsch RF 62 etc.), but never anything quite this nice (the cornwalls will cost more than I've spent on any other speakers I've had combined). The one exception being I've been getting into headphones lately (Dan Clarks). So, I'm pretty sure they will blow me away regardless. With my headphones I have really enjoyed the warmth and imaging of Schiit audio. I have Hel+ as an office DAC/Headphone Amp, and Modius/Midgard stack for home listening. I would be using the Modius / Midgard stack to provide a balanced or stereo output signal to the amplifier(s) for the cornwalls. Liking Schitt's products (especially the made in usa factor) I like the price point of the Gjallarhorn at 300 each. I can drive them with an XLR and run in mono for 30 watts / side or I could run a single to run in stereo at 10 watts / side. This will be in a smaller bedroom (very not ideal for optimal sizing but it is what I have) at 10' X 12'. For any recommendations of getting a bigger room or that Cornwalls are the wrong speaker for a room this small, remember that I have headphone setups if I just want accuracy and imaging from smaller high end speakers. I am wanting the Cornwalls to be effectively driven for that sense of scale and Klipsch magic that is generally lacking from a headphone setup. I just want to know if anyone has experience with Cornwall ii's and Schiit Gjallarhorn(s) and also any inspection tips for when looking at the speakers. Additionally, if anyone has any advice on how much power will overdrive the Cornwalls in my small space (I have a sense that 10W may be plenty but want that confirmed).1 point

Lots of new entries leading up to and during the Live Stream Listening Lounge, and still more during Watermelon Festival in Hope. Looks like we will be announcing a 14 day cut off soon, with a drawing in first or 2nd week of September. I will update hopefully by end of the week. Travis1 point

For horns for sure. For drivers it depends. They where swimming in water? One picture is wort more then thousand words and your description of state is really brief. I guess squeaker and tweeter can be disassembled to examine the state. But it's hard to tell remote.1 point

Jim, If your LSs are in a not-so-big space and you don't only listen to R&R, consider trying a low-powered SET amp, you might like it. I had my KHorns driven by a 100-watt EL34 amp and one point. It sounded very nice, but similar to a good high powered SS amp. SETs are just different in my experience. Without waxing poetic too much - Intoxicating, palpable are a couple of words that come to mind. Low powered SETs can be had pretty cheap on the used market. Or one of my favorites is the Decware, I made the kit @ $350 including tubes. Mike Mike Thanks for the advice on the Decware, I will add it to my list of candidates for kits. I listen to pretty much anything these days as the LaScalas have made everything sound so good. Jim1 point

I have known of Klipsch speakers for decades because of the Khorn, but had never actually heard them myself, only heard the stories of how wonderful they were. In September of '09 a buddy of mine told me he had seen some smaller Klipsch speakers at a local thrift store for $89.00 so I thought I would go and take a look. It turned out they were KG2s mfg in 1983, they were in excellent shape so I though what the heck and purchased them. Using only an old sears seperates setup they sounded better than my main system that I had been listening to forever. I was so taken with them that I went to the magical interweb and found this site and started reading and reading and reading. The journey had begun. By mid October I found a pair of 1976 Heresys locally on craigs list that had just had the crites capacitor upgrades done. I could not believe what I had been missing all these years, and the journey continued as I purchased some vintage Harman Kardon receivers (see sig line) which really made the Heresys sing, especially the HK930. Then in December I see a set of 1977 LaScalas for sale locally on craigs list and could not wait to get them home. They were the best sounding speakers I had ever heard but then I replaced the original crossovers with Bob Crites A/AA crossovers and once again was astounded at how much the sound improved. I listen to them as much as I can........... it is very addictive.... but in a good way [] My next step will be going to tubes but that is going to take a while and whole lot more research. Who knew finding a small set of speakers in a thrift shop could be such a life altering experience [Y] Jim1 point

I only have experience with the originals on vinyl. I have no input for current releases. I did however buy a redone CD and it was a mess. The album had songs inserted on every other track and the mix was messed up. For a Hendrix beginner, you have to get the standard versions first. Thanx, Russ I have to agree with Russ on this Hendrix is probably my all time favorite since I first heard Are You Experienced when it first came out Start at the begining so you will know where he came from and where he went from there just my .02 cents Jim1 point

Better than being dead off the forum!! Have a good bourbon with a couple drops of water for me huh? Add to my list of accomplishments in staying alive... My methodical reduction of *relaxed, measured breathing, to lower my heart rate worked a couple weeks ago. Cardio-Pulmonary... they're closely connected! Hospital said I'd had another heart attack, glad it was obviously mild. The other I had wasn't and took me to my knees as there wasn't a place near to sit a decade or more ago. Felt like a horse kicked me! A thing like that I remember exactly except for the date. Enzymes and markers put it in my blood. Lasix took the edge off of the big fat swollen me below the belt to the floor. Carry On0 points
