I inherited a pair of these! I want to be able to take these to party’s occasionally. Outdoor ot about 2000square feet indoors at my shop with 12’ ceilings. Can anyone steer me into a great amp. One that I could take to shows. im not a tech guy when it comes to this stuff. And being budget friendly would help. thanks2 points

You may want to check this one out...you can also set to line out ahead of your tube preamp, in order to take advantage of the DAC and HDMI inputs while retaining your tube sound, if desired: https://www.essenceelectrostatic.com/product/hdacc-ii-4k-hdmi-dac-preamp-headphone-amp-for-4k-sources-and-tvs/2 points

I will admit however that Lady Gaga is multi talented with a lot of balls to try anything. If you can be invited to sing with Tony Bennett you have what it takes. JJK2 points

Where I'm from? You don't let anybody else drive your truck or hot rod. Gas, Grass or *** did not even work! Had friends get married that would buy a new car to share... but that late 60s Mopar or early 70s 396 or 454 would be in the garage for sunny days only!2 points

Yesterday, the last day of the festival, was a rough one. Light showers off and on all day and people just kept stopping here. MORE piles to put away and two bags of beer cans for the G-men next week. Yea, got crazy for sure. Neighbors dragged their lawn chairs and hung out, which really suprised me. Funny. Yea, piles. 😂 Tom Petty Full Moon Fever 1989 Full Moon Fever is the debut solo studio album by American musician Tom Petty, released on April 24, 1989, by MCA Records. It features contributions from members of his band the Heartbreakers, notably Mike Campbell, as well as Jeff Lynne, Roy Orbison (who died prior to its release), and George Harrison, Petty's bandmates in the Traveling Wilburys Tom Petty Wildflowers 1994 Wildflowers is the second solo studio album by American musician Tom Petty, released on November 1, 1994, by Warner Bros. Records. It was the first album released by Petty after signing a contract with Warner Bros., where he had recorded as part of the Traveling Wilburys. It was the first of three of his albums produced with Rick Rubin. Wildflowers was very well-received by critics upon release and was certified 3× platinum in the United States by the Recording Industry Association of America Beatles Abby Road 1969 Abbey Road is the eleventh studio album by the English rock band the Beatles, released on 26 September 1969, by Apple Records. It is the last album the group recorded,[2] although Let It Be (1970) was the last album completed before the band's break-up in April 1970. Nazareth Hair of the Dog 1975 Hair of the Dog is the sixth studio album by the Scottish hard rock band Nazareth, released on 3 April 1975. Big Brother & The Holding Company Cheap Thrills 1968 Cheap Thrills is the second studio album by American rock band Big Brother and the Holding Company, released on August 12, 1968, by Columbia Records. Cheap Thrills was the band's final album with lead singer Janis Joplin before she left to begin a solo career. For Cheap Thrills, the band and producer John Simon incorporated recordings of crowd noises to give the impression of a live album, for which it was subsequently mistaken by many listeners. Only "Ball and Chain" was actually recorded in concert at the Winterland Ballroom. Aerosmith Rocks 1976 Rocks is the fourth studio album by American rock band Aerosmith, released on 3 May 1976. That's a start on the pile. Rehab today? Not so much but kinda maybe.2 points

I believe from experience that the sound is not only dependent on damping or absorbing measures. This is certainly an important contribution. I would like to point out something else that I have experienced myself in all clarity. I mean the composition of the walls, the floor and the ceiling. The best sound I ever had in terms of the room was in the basement of my parents' house when I was a teenager and still living at home. When I was 15, I built my first bass and midrange horns with a friend of mine who was 17. They were backloaded so-called Waldorf Astoria horns, we had halved them... so only one driver (not two next to each other like in the original Waldorf bass horn), but the length of the horn remained the same. The basement room had a screed floor and very thick walls made of natural stone, large granite blocks. In addition, the weight of the whole relatively large house was on these basement walls, everything was very solid. I have never heard such a precise sound with absolutely dry low bass and clear but never sterile mids anywhere else. The basement windows were very small, nothing was resonating. The ceiling was relatively low and covered with polystyrene (now unthinkable with today's fire safety regulations). There was a carpeted floor. In short, it was a very transparent sound that I have never heard in a normal living room. It is very impressive what a bad influence thinner walls can have (as many people have them) because they can resonate and muddy everything. In our current apartment in Cologne, it is mediocre, not the worst and not the best. The house is from 1910 and very large with four floors and we live on the first floor, one flight of stairs above the street, with all the weight of the upper stories on the walls. A few years ago, we moved books from another room into the living room. It is in the corner opposite the left speaker. Believe it or not, since the books have been there, ugly boom points have disappeared. In short, it's not just the treatment of a room, but also the substance of the walls, etc., which can have a very positive or negative influence on the sound. I know that the passage between the rooms (in the photo) is a very negative element for the sound, but for my point here it is not important.2 points

If you have an early four channel soundcard, chances are your drivers need updating. Some first year sound cards had a phase problem with the rear channels. Check with the card maker to see if you have the latest drivers installed. ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-56651 point

The tape trick works for soft domes, but not for hard paper domes. BTW, I HAVE actually used a vacuum cleaner to do this on some speakers i had at home. Talk about power tools! ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-56651 point

The word on thre street is because Intel gives USB away, and firewire is expensive. Unless a device must have firewire for another reason (such as replacing SCSI in a high bandwidth application), it's incremental expense is prohibitive. It gets even worse for loudspeakers. There's no way to justify $100 in high bandwidth firewire silicon for audio frequency work, when S/PDIF or analog works as well as it does. ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-56651 point

Nothing in the forseeable future. Klipsch is looking at USB 2.0 to see if it presents an opportunity to solve some of the earlier problems that USB 1.0 and 1.1 had. Your feedback is very helpful in the meantime... ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-56651 point

Can I use the 4.1 system on this card or do I have to upgrade to a SB Live! 5.1 card to fully use the 4.1 system? Also, if I get a 5.1 system when it comes out, would I need a 5.1 card to fully utilize the system? I'm assuming that I could use the 5.1's on the Value card, but the sixth channel wouldn't be supported or something. Thanks a lot for any help. You can drive the 5.1 from your 4 channel card without a problem. Your center channel speaker, of course, would become a temporary paperweight until you upgrade the soundcard. Conversely, it's possible to use a 4.1 with either a 4.1 or a 5.1 sound card, by putting the center in phantom mode. So, you can decide based on cost and how many speakers you really want. -djf ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-56651 point

A software decoder will work only for the DVD movies; and not for some future Dolby encoded five channel video games (these games, instead, will presumably be decoded to the older EAX four channel standard -though that's a guess). If bleeding edge game sound is not crucial in your decision, then the XP is a good choice. ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-56651 point

Thanks for the clarification, Tabby. The XP's decoder is built into the PowerDVD software, instead of on the hardware; which may make a difference for the gamer- user. ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-56651 point

ProMedia speakers are not a good match for receiver hookup for several reasons. Impedence is one. Bass overload is another. The exception would be if you have line or preamp outputs. These can be adapted to the mini-plug inputs of the powered speakers without a problem. ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-56651 point

Tabby; The GameTheater XP does have Dolby Digital. Either the XP or the SB 5.1 will work with the PM5.1 (and complete the Dolby Digital equation). ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-5665 This message has been edited by Dan F on 07-10-2001 at 07:37 AM1 point

Forgot to post this a couple weeks ago but hat's off to those Arkansas growers for the nice mater's I picked up at my lil deli. NOTHING better than a great turkey sammich w/a gob or horseradish and a nice juicy tasty mater on 45 grain bread! Think my jaw dropped a lil bit when I took the sticker off. Not only can they build killer speakers but grow some awesome maters in a pinch! Yea, I know. Just sharin the love! 😂1 point

Well, since you do have a 5 channel card, you would likely benefit from the ProMedia 5.1. The main difference would be the additional power, and the existence of the center channel. ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-56651 point

BASH or non-BASH, Klipsch works to get the best performance value for its customers. I know, I know, it sounds like a commercial, but that's essentially what happens in the development phase. Until BASH came along, there was literally no way to do a 4 channel system with the kind of output it had to have to make smaller speakers rock like a Klipsch system. So, that turned out to be a very nice fit. BASH is more expensive than class AB, but solved the heat related problems that kept multichannel stuff from happening. Turns out BASH is probably the best way to do multichannel, because the output sections (being linear AB) don't need the filters that drive the costs of normal class-D combinations through the roof. So it was a good choice for the 4.1 and 5.1 systems. The choice was not as clear on the 2.1 system. 200 Watts could be accommodated a little easier for heat related issues, as long as a class-D sub section was provided. This was the choice made. I think it's possible to design good and bad amplifiers in any class. At one time, transistor matching was such a crap-shoot that class AB didn't have a chance. Now that the Power MOSFET game is a decade or two along, class AB can work very well; whether using a linear power supply (as in the 2.1,) or a switching power supply (as in the 4.1 and 5.1). For the 4.1 to be used in a 2.1 configuration, I think you would find the benefits to be in the 2+ dB headroom at the high frequency, and more punch at the low frequency end. ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-56651 point
-
You are right, Ear. The smoking of that resistor is indication of problems with the output devices as well. It's not an easy fix. I think the solution in this case was replacement of the amplifier. -djf ------------------ Klipsch ProMedia Customer Service # is 1-888-554-56651 point
