I'm not sure if this is the proper home for this thread as I am somewhat new to the community so please let me know if it belongs elsewhere. I went to the "Art of Noise" exhibit at the San Francisco Museum of Modern Art and it was lovely. Lot's of old concert posters, old gear from across the decades but most interesting for this team was the Devon Turnball "Hifi Pursuit Listening Room Dream No. 2". It was a large listening room with his custom system and seats where you could relax and listen to DJs playing various songs. I took some pictures, spent about an hour in it. The soundstage was very large, and it sounded very good. Although it seemed a bit sharp at the top end of things. I wondered if some of you are familiar with these systems and if my subjective interpretation was off given your experience with it. Perhaps it was the various recordings chosen but all three of us felt the same (albeit subjective) way. It's really impressive from a pure design perspective. Trial and error taught us to power cycle the soundbar then Klipsch provided an alternative method with a firmware update but, as usual, provide no information about what happens behind the scenes.

Mail-lady was early a day with these. From the NW and the SE corners of the country the Pink Floyd I was immersed in by the Q when I was a teen. DSOTM was there too but these were newer. You know `em, most all of y'all like `em too!

Yeah, thanks @ongtw75! I totally missed that! Okay I will look into this. Might actually be an easier fix ultimately. Would you suggest just doing both of them? The left one in the pic doesn't seem to be distended. Also I've been told capacitors can still carry a bunch of electricity in them after being powered off -- is that something we should be mindful of? So to answer your question, @Matt in LA, nothing yet, it's still sitting there. Just thought I'd wait for the other ps module I ordered from AliExpress in case that turns out to be a better match. And thank you @KevinB for that tip -- I'm always thinking the physical plug has to come out but man the ones on these is a real pain to deal with! I now have a physical switch outlet that is plugged into the surge protector and the soundbar plugs into that. So I still think the power button restart is like a soft reset and the plug itself is a full power cycle, but correct me if I'm wrong.

Hello all, I have the Flexus 200 with 2 surrounds and 2 subs. It was pricey but the sound is so strong, love it. One ten is very loud when you increase the overall system volume but the soundbar is very loud too. Awesome. Like I said, one sub is plenty when you raise the gain but 2 are very nice at low volume, deep rumbles. Y'all enjoy! -Peace

Not sure what they go for in Japan, but I have had good results with Luxman on my Klipschorns. Of course you can stretch your budget if you will consider used gear in good nick.

I use an HH Scott LK-72 which I think is similar to a 299C. It was a DIY kit from 1960. I have had that unit for close to 20 years and I use it regularly still with some Heresys like you are doing. My experience has been similar. Clean clear sound, virtually dead silent, and a very noticeable 3D sound stage. Somewhere in this forum are the performance measurements after John Warren replaced the power transformer and other parts several years ago. I think he even developed his own version of the LK-72 after servicing my unit.

I would use a multi-channel or 5.1/5.2 set up with multi channel processing for immersive sound. or you can just use 2-channel... with a hornloaded subwoofer

Hello, I just red on my locall klipschdealer site that i can upgrade my lascala with a AL-4 x-over. Now i have the AL-3 x-over. Is it really worth the money to upgrade to this al-4? What will be the differends between these 2 x-overs? Thx for the help. M.H

Thx for the advise. I am a bit dissapointed that a Klipsch heritage dealer gives the advise to upgrade old lascala's with this new x-over. He is the one who should know better.... It seems not

Hello, First of all..sorry for the type errors i will make. Ok..I own a pair of Lascala's and for my 5.1 set up i use a RC3 for center and the RF3 for my rear. Nice,but not the perfect match ofcourse. Here is my first question: -Will be the Heresy for center and rear the best(payable) match for my lascala's? -And second..i have seen 2 pair of heresy's for sale. The heresy type 1 and the heresy type 2. Which 1 will be better? The old type? (heresy1) ore the newer type (heresy2). I hope someone really knows the answer. Thx again for all the reply's I just recieved a email from 1 of the heresy's owners and he told me that his type (the first type) has the originall alnico magnets. And he has also rewired the speaker and modified the filter (thats why his speakers are a bit expensiver then the other). This makes it a bit harder to choose.

Thx for the reply. Well,another lascala would be nice but unfortunally it wont fit in my room Secondairy it is to expensive for this moment. But i saw 2 pair of heresy's for sale for around the 650 . I think it is a fair price. The only thing whas i didnt knew what whas better..the first ore the second heresy type. But now i know that it wont make any difference. Yesterday i whas reading some opinions about the lascala on the http://www.audioreview.com/ site . 1 of the guys whas telling about a tweak for the lascala to reach the 35hz. This is what he said. ---------- I have an engineer friend who has designed a reasonable modification to the Belles and La Scallas that extend their low end to 35hz. Hello, After founding out that i had a serious acoustic problem i removed all the furniture and speakers (Lascala's). But unfortunally i had to place the speakers with a bigger space between them. I can hear that the sound is differend but it is hard to tell what has changed and what is better. Now i am wondering if there is a best distance u can have between the speakers? And what is the maximal space u can have between the speakers without losing sound quality? And what is the best distance between the speakers and hotspot? I hope someone can help me. Greetings M.H

Thx chuckears, What u tell me sounds verry familiar. But when u use that rule i have to move the couch 0.5M at least back wards. I have the feeling i get to far away from the speakers. That i will miss the little details. Unfortunally i cant place the speakers closer together. But know i am wondering,how do u measure the distance between the speakers? Is it from 1 side to the other side? Ore from the heart of the speaker to the other heart of the speaker. Greetings M.H

Thx Zandern, But i would like to know what the best distance is to have between youre speakers. Now i have 2.90m (from heart to heart of the speakers). It looks quit huge in my opinion. The hotspot is 3.20m fom the speakers. So maybe those distances are to big for a perfect soundstage? Maybe someboddy knows the perfect distances to place the speakers? Greetings M.H

Hello, Well..i started with a pair of RF-3's and i took the grill off when i listened. I had the feeling that i could hear i bit more detail in the high. Now i own the Lascala's and i also remove the gril on those. On the lascala i am certain that the sound is a bit more clear then with the grill on. So to answer youre question,yes..i always listen with the grill off. And i'm quit sure that u can hear some difference. But there is only 1 way to make that sure and that is listen for youre self

Hello, I had a little discussion with a friend lately about the differends between the Lascala and Belle. So far i always thought that there are no differends at all in the sound. But that friend of my told me that the Belle doesnt sound so good as the Lascala. And that whas because of the shorter midhorn. When hearing that i whas thinking about how few things i read about the Belle on this forum. Is the Belle not so popular? And what are the differends in the sound between the Lascala and the Belle??? Thx for the reply's Ok..so if i get it right there aint that much differend between both. Thats what my Klipsch dealer told me also some while ago. But i became curious when i heard another story from that guy who owned both of them for some time. He found the Lascala more musical then the Belle. He owns now a pair khorn's. Maybe we meet each other some day. I'm really curious how the Khorn will sound =). Anyway..thx again for making it a bit more clear for me. Greetings M.H

Hello.. I have a question for the LaScala owners again. Since i own a pair for myself i am verry happy with the sound. But there is 1 big thing that bothers me. This is kind a hard to discribe,but i will give it a try. Most times i hear in the mid-low section a echo resound. Specially with drum/deep voices and guitar. It looks like there is something vibrating inside the speaker. Like the speaker cant handle that part of the sound verry well. I know this aint the case,but it just sound like that. In the beginning i thought it whas in the recording him self. That perhaps the microphone coudnt handle the sound corectly. But i hear it in so many cd's,and a friend of my has also a full horned system (Kustom) and there it sound perfect. Another friend who also own a pair of LaScala has the same problem so the problem cant be my speakers. I hope u know what kind of sound i mean. But it's verry anoying,becuase the rest of the music sound's verry life like. And suddenly u hear that "echo resound" and *PLOP*...u are back in the real world,gone is that magic feeling u had. Again,i hear it only when there is some "puch" in the sound.. Like i said,when u hear a gitar ore a deep voice ore drum.. Can someone pls tell me what causes this problem? And what can i do to eliminate it? I really hope u understand what i mean and give me some good advise, Greetings M.H

Glad to hear i dont have to screw ore glue. So it al depends on right measure. I have looked at the site u gave to me. This product is new to me,it looks intresting. Pitty the picture didnt succeed,but u explained it well the last time so i dont think it will be a problem anymore. Thx again for helping and i really hope it will work. Greetings M.H

Thank u for explaining it again jnorv. The trick u told me for the midhorn is worth a try. But how about that test for the base cabinet? What if i do the "sandbag" test and suddenly the vibrations disappear? So i know that the base cabinet causes the problem? I can't let the speaker lay down permanent on his side ofcourse. Are there also tricks to fix the vibrations in the base cabinet? M.H

Funny.. U describe exactly my first thoughts about that problem. I thought also that the record causes this problem. But a good friend of me also owns a pair of full horn peakers and they are eaven more accurate then the Lacala. And when i listen on his peakers the sound is perfect. But youre right about that clean-record point. I noticed also that cleanly record's doesnt show this problem that often. I hear it most thime with "life" ore "acoustic" music. And specially when there is a lot of "punch" in the music like drum/acoustic guitar. Thats why i still dont know what causes this problem. The speakers? (but why does 1 cd sounds perfect and the other has this problem) ore is it the recording (but why does it sound perfect on my friends speakers who are even more sensitive then mine). So i'm still trugling with this problem. I still hope tat Jnorv can explain to me in simple words how i can fix the vibration. By the way..best wishes and happy new year Greetings M.H

It is really in the lower section. It has a bit of a muddy "wood" sound..ppfff..so hard to discribe. I have the plastic horn (is this better ore worse?)and the sound is really coming from the speaker. The sound doesnt sound like something is vibrating BECUASE of the music (like when u play really loud and things start to vibrate)it has a more "the sound cant get out of the speaker" feeling..and because of that the cabinet is vibrating.. Hello. I had a little argue with a friend of me lately. So far we both havent heard the K-horn ever play. But he told me that the LaScala's have more punch then the K-horn. I whas a bit suprised because the K-Horn goes to 35Hz and the Lascala only 45Hz. But he whas convinced that the K-horn had a more "wharm" sound then the LaScala and the Scala's had more kick/punch then the K-Horn. Can anyone of u tell us what the main difference is in sound between those 2? Thx for the help. Greetings M.H

Hello. Finally after a long period of waiting and some trobles my biwire cable (the Monster M2,4) has arived. I knew i had to make some changes to my x-over to make it suitable for biwiring so i asked my dealer what i had to do. Unfortunally he didnt knew it either,but dont worry he said,i will let u know it the next day. Well..it has been 4 days since then and still he doesnt know a thing Tomorrow he is closed and monday also. So i hope that u guys can explain it to me in simple understanding words how i have to connect te cable and what i must change in my x-over. I thought that a cable had to be removed ore something like that? Maybe u can explain it to me with a picture?..ore a schema perhaps? Hopefully u can help me.. Thx so far. Well..i think i have found the solution.. The 2 "low" cables stay on the old connection(the far right connection's).. The 2 "high" cables are going to the far left connection's. So i pass the tweeter/mid and low connection's. Then i have to cut 2 copper wires that connect the far left and far right connection's. I think this is he right solution,if not pls let me know (i have checked the x-over and yes..i have the AL-3 type...is this by the way a good x-over??..because i heard there are some more x-over types available) This message has been edited by M.H on 12-08-2001 at 01:20 PM
