  1. My porch system is exposed to large temperature variations, dust, pollen, and indirect moisture. That can and has played hell with consumer electronics. The Crown amps take it in stride.

  2. Yes... my 11 year old Emotiva XPA 5 that I bought second hand has Cap discharge issues on 2 of the 5 channels. My Rotel 2 channel amp started having issues, but to be fair, that is about 20 years old. Now, on the other hand, my 25+ year old Crown Comtech 1600 and several 400's along with my 3 crown k2's and k1 still work perfectly. Not a single failure out of any of those amps.

  3. That's what I'm talking about. Go big or go home.đź‘Ť On the other hand.... I'll be starting a thread soon on all the Fosi gear I've bought lately. Not for the power but for the sound quality you get on the cheap. Never thought I'd see the day that this little Class D stuff could rival the performance of my beloved vintage gear. Not for how loud it can go but for how good it sounds at a fraction of the cost.

  4. I use mine for Tapped Horn subs that can reach 130 db output at 16 Hz.. I got scared at 125, so I stopped.

  5. I would try to find a pair of correct Klipsch crossovers if you want them to sound right. You would need to know what each of the components are (woofer, mid and tweeter) to get the correct version. @Deang

  6. That's true with most if not all pro-amps. Crown happens to be at or near the top of the heap in this area. As far as sound quality among pro-amps go, Macrotech and K2 are right up there if not the best.

  7. Another K2 user here. Have three of them, one for each underground Jube and one, bridged for the Danley. I had never heard of them and a former, forum member told me to try one as they were very musical and quiet (because of no fan). That is a paraphrase of his comment. Grabbed a couple and have zero issues/complaints. Now, in the beginning, I discovered if I had their gains cranked up, I'd hear spittle from the 402 driver. Also figured out that doing that used less of the upstream signal. Flipped it around and now, the amps are around 5 clicks from zero and I'm using more of the upstream signal and, they are dead quiet if you stick your ear in the horn (the spittle is gone) they are quiet because of no fan noise..... and if you want to get stupid, they can take the volume to stupid by simply adjusting the gains up. Don't really need K2's but that's what was available when I got them. I got the third K2 simply to match the first two. System would (probably, since I've never tried)....anyway, system would probably be just as quiet, sound just as good and go just as stupid loud if I had used K1's. I'd say, try one (if a single can work for you, if you biamp you'd obviously need two OR just use it for the bottom end) Anyway, try one.... they're not horribly expensive and you can resell them. Mine replaced a dbx BX1 on the bass bins and a McIntosh MC-2102 on the high end.... both gone, great sound and the cash in pocket was also nice.

  10. I can definitely understand your point. I'm sure there are people out there that would love to pass off Copies as the real thing, and that is definitely not my intention. I don't have the original cabinets for two good reasons. The originals were in pretty shoddy shape, but I would have kept them complete, however they were on the other side of the planet. Shipping would have been astronomical! I agree, I will print "Copy" on the reprinted labels.

  11. I have used the cv181 from psvane with good results for years... But my favorite 6sn7 is the ex-military copper lined RCA, and these are what I use on my VRD's

  13. agreed as well. I don't even care if it sounds all that good, it's visually striking and looks something that evokes past icons from Klipsch, Altec & Jensen and a factory rendered DIY job. as an inveterate DIY-er, it's cool as hell. I'd also like to see more like this.

  14. Bought a QUAD VENA II integrated amp and paired it with Heresy IV's. Several people have asked me where my subwoofer was located. I don't have one!! This little amp is outstanding!

  15. I bought my first used quad from my job beside school in 1975, a 33 pre which I later combined with a 405 power amp. Then later came 34 pre with 306 power amp until the mid-90s, then 25 years of tubes of all kinds, including Quad II tube amps. Since I was at home in 2020 because of Covid 19 and during that time I restored old Quad 34 and 306 which I bought cheaply with new caps etc. I rediscovered the sound. All my tube gear is very good but since 4 years I am in love with this Quad transistor sound again. For the Klipschorns I bought an old 606 power amp 1.5 years ago because it can drive lower impedances than the 306. It's great that Quad is still in the market, albeit from the far east, but they really care about the brand and the products. When the new retro look series 33/303 was introduced 2 months ago, it warmed my heart. And although I don't think I'll ever need any other amps, I'm very tempted because it's a time machine back to my youth. I love this visual design plus it sounds very good according to some reviews and it is relatively affordable priced. https://quad-hifi.co.uk/products/quad-33

  16. Geezus K Rist, $820 for AA crossovers?? That just seems nuts to me. If you can solder there are much cheaper ways to go about this.

  17. I do think if they were to shut the forum down, the continuous flow of word of mouth residual sales would slow down considerably. I know many of my Klipsch purchases, new and used, were prompted by forum member suggestions and good advice. Bill

  18. I recently joined the world of soundbars (due to design appeal -- former 7.2 wouldn't work in new open space). Just because I have a soundbar, can I still get a really nice sub with low frequency? Not really thrilled about the current soundbar / sub packages that I see (with little subs and likely not much rumble).

  19. Anyone regretting buying a curved tv? For some reason Samsung's 65" QLED is curved, and the 55" and 75" models are flat. This will be for a standing unit (not wall mounted). Worried that this is more of a fad... than something I would want for years.

  20. When I look online for soundbar ratings / reviews... I rarely see Klipsch, why? Loyal Klipsch fan that needs to make some adjustments, and wondering why I don’t see Klipsch as a front runner in the reviews.

  21. Why no replies? This was a genuine question. Wondering why I don't see Klipsch in the soundbar "top 10 reviews". Either way... I'll likely stay with Klipsch anyways...

  22. With some modifications to the furniture... I think I can now go up to 75". Likely going flat (not curved).

  24. Just went to Samsung's website and saw there is a flat 65" model. Still interested to learn more about the curved models...

  25. I have a pair of very large circa 1952 speakers. One is mounted with a Klipschorn and Klipsch crossover - both work. I obviously know very little about this subject and am looking for help in indentifying what I have. I could not list all my photos so here are links http://home.comcast.net/~d.toeppen/speaker1.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~d.toeppen/speaker2.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~d.toeppen/speaker3.jpgThanks.

  27. Thanks, I realize my horn is Klipsch but I am wondering about the cabinet portion - I can find no label or markings on either and I was wondering if these were made from a kit, or a book, or if they were made by Klipsch - I would like to sell them but need to know what I have before I can actually determine a value. Any help is appreciated.

  28. Thanks for the info. The bass sizes are each about 41" tall and 24" across for the plain bass and 31" for the finished. Here are a couple more photos of the two basses. http://home.comcast.net/~d.toeppen/speaker6.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~d.toeppen/speaker5.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~d.toeppen/speaker8.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~d.toeppen/horn3.jpg http://home.comcast.net/~d.toeppen/horn1.jpg

  29. I have a pair of Klipsch Chorus I for sale in very good condition in the DFW area. I replaced the tweeters with Dave A's Mahl lens and I have the originals as well. I rebuilt the crossovers recently with the klipsch recommended parts. They sound amazing and I truly love them and have no desire to replace them but sadly I am having to downsize, and bookshelves/stand mounts are my future. I am asking $1,300.00. I no longer have the original boxes so shipping is not something I can provide.
