  1. I really like the surrounds! As far as Klipsch and their sensitivity ratings I don't know why they fudge the numbers on the non-pro stuff. On the pro line however, I don't think they can get away with stuff like that. If a venue is designing a huge sound system I'd think the numbers better jive right when the engineers start testing them lol. I will join you guys in the pro line soon! I've been running RF-7's for far too long, while they are great, they don't offer that huge sound I am looking for. I want to knock the socks off of anyone that enters my theater room!
  2. It is worth it. The goal for most of us is to find the best quality audio/video we can and hopefully that means trumping the theater. If you make the changes now, you can later upgrade to pro-gear of some sorts if you feel like it. Either way it's an upgrade and worth it. IMO your screen size as it is - is a bit small for what you have in the room. You have a nice dedicated room fully built with awesome sound. A 140" screen will take your room to a whole new level. On a different note, the LaScala's are that much better huh? I can't say I'm surprised really.
  3. I think the rooms have a lot to do with it. In my home I ran Chorus ll's vs RF-7's for years and was surprised by the bass slam of the Chorus ll. It was not as tight as the RF-7 but it's slam factor was way up there. I had them corner loaded though in a large carpeted room with 425 watts per channel. As for Chorus ll vs KLF 30, it would be a lateral move at best and IMHO a slight downgrade but YMMV.
  4. Very nice room my friend! Well done!
  5. Yeah, Jade Design is Sherbourn and Emotiva both. They have actually shut the doors on Sherbourn and it's only Emotiva now so it makes sense to send the AVR over.
  6. Same here, I liked Pitch Black better than the second one The Chronicles of Riddick. I think I enjoyed Riddick better than Chronicles as well.
  7. We watched The Hunger Games - Catching Fire last night. It was really good IMO, it had us wanting more when it was over. I'd give the audio/video 4.5/5 for sure.
  8. Yeah, I have to admit the Danley SH50 sounds like an amazing speaker. From what people are saying, it just doesn't get much better than what they can do at any price.
  9. I think it must be those Def Tech's you're running over there.
  10. Tonight we watched Gravity. My wife and I both liked it a lot. It has great LFE and the picture quality is way up there as well. This will be a reference movie for sure.
  11. The reviews I read were bad, how did you like the movie? We almost watched it but decided to watch something else.
  12. It's my 70" Sharp for sure, looking forward to getting into front projection with a 120-140" screen.
  13. Congratulations Vital! I definitely understand, however am about to watch Ronin on Blu ray to see how it sounds at Reference level---I remember the DVD being quite good, SQ-wise. Thanks buddy! I remember seeing Ronin back in the day, good movie! I didn't know it was out on Blu-ray, let us know how it is.
  14. We don't get to enjoy 85 db with 105 peaks since the baby came. I think we listen at about 70 db or so these days. Maybe even a little lower. Can't wait til she is old enough to enjoy movies with us!
  15. i am looking for some speakers that will satisfy me in spl not only in my current room but in whatever house I move to next. The 942 is made for a 400 seat theater. They should be perfect. Also I am looking for that HUGE CINEMA SOUND. Think that 402 horn is gonna give it to me. Lastly I miss the musicality of my rf-63 theater. I'm hoping the kpt stuff would sound as good or better than my Cornwalls. I could be wrong. They may be terrible for music and if so then I'll stop considering them right now. But so many have the 402's in music and live them. Now they may all have the 2,000$ tad drivers and that could happen one day as well. We shall see. Otherwise the JTR noesis or diy will be the way I am gonna go. I can't imagine the 942 not being musical. As far as the ultimate speaker, I think the 942, the JTR Noesis or the new JTR 215 and the Danley SH60 or any other model you like should all be considered. I can't imagine any of them projecting as large of a sound as the 942 though, the 402 horn is huge.
  16. wow that's weird. I would think it would be the exact opposite. What all kpt stuff do you have again mustang? Just the double 15" bin? 2 kpt684's, 3 kpt-904's, bunches of kpt-200's. I wouldn't think this is the norm in most rooms. Right. My room is definitely not like other's here that I am aware of. Two of my speakers are actually 75' apart and the ceiling height is between 24' at the eves to 26' at the ridge. My shop has concrete floors, metal beams, and sheetrock walls. Nothing I have tried works as well for me as the lascala system. Wow, that is MASSIVE! How much seating do you have?
  17. wow that's weird. I would think it would be the exact opposite. What all kpt stuff do you have again mustang? Just the double 15" bin? 2 kpt684's, 3 kpt-904's, bunches of kpt-200's. I wouldn't think this is the norm in most rooms.
  18. KPT-942, do it and never look back! I had a bad year last year so my theater room upgrade had to wait. Hopefully this is the year! I'm going big as soon as possible...
  19. I would look at the JVC projectors as well. IMO they are the best out there in their price ranges and even their lower budget projectors will blow you away. My buddy bought a JVC RS-15 a few years back for under 3k and the picture is amazing. From everything I have seen, JVC is out front when it comes to 2D picture quality. They are at the top of list when I get ready to start looking myself.
  20. We watched this last night, GREAT movie! We were glued to the chairs! I would actually like to watch it again for some reason lol.
  21. Go the AVS or HT forums. Yes, this is what you seek....
  22. How does it compare (or does it?) to the old Warren Beatty/Faye Dunaway version? I never saw the original, I'd have to think since this one is so much newer it will be much higher quality as far as sound and picture go. As for the acting, I dunno, this one was good IMO.
  23. We watched this last night, I really enjoyed it. I wasn't expecting it to be very good but it was. The picture and sound quality were both good. I would recommend it for sure. It's not kid friendly though...
  24. I dunno, 120 watts from a Harman Kardon is a lot of power IMO. I have one of their AVR's that's only rated at 55 watts a channel and that thing rocks RF-7's like you wouldnt believe.
  25. IMO I would upgrade the center to another RB-5 or to an RC-7. The center is your weak spot IMO. I actually prefer my RB-5's over my RB-81's. I find the RB-5 very smooth and would be very content running three of them as an LCR setup as long as you have subs.
