  1. From what I have gathered, the Yammy sounds very bright with Klipsch.
  2. I wanted a few good female vocalists for the clarity. That Celine Dion song is crystal clear. It's not something I sit around and listen to really. As for the David Arkenstone, not sure what cd it comes on. I have about 6 of his songs I think. I get all of my music from Kazaa. I have over 2000 MP3s and my music selection ranges from one extreme to the other and everything in between. As for the center channel, he didn't have it in stock. I can get it online for a lot less money and it will take him 7 days to get it in. Still trying to figure out what route I want to take.
  3. I went in to see my local dealer tonight to check out his price on a center channel and spent an hour comparing the studio 100s to the RF-7s. The Studio 100s sound good on the Denon he was running but again, after listening for almost an hour to a cd I burned for this reason alone, the RF-7 was the winner hands down. I am not sure if it was his setup or not but the Paradigm sounded like it had more bass than the RF-7s. Hard to imagine though when the RF-7s have a pair of 10s vs the 8s on the Paradigm. If anyone has more info no this please share. My RF-7s here at home seem to thump pretty well using my HK. Anyway my girl and I spent awhile there tonight and the Klipsch just out shines the Paradigm in every setting as far as I am concerned. I also knocked on both speakers to see what Foodshouldbefree was talking about and I am sorry but I see no difference at all. Both speakers are solid and well built. Don't get me wrong, I liked the sound of the Paradigm it just wasn't "special" I guess you could say. The cd I burned to audition the speakers with had the following tracks: 1. Driven Under - Seether 2. Fine Again - Seether 3. Like a Stone - Audioslave 4. Lost Cause - Beck 5. Brothers in Arms - Dire Straights 6. A Thousand Miles - Vanessa Carlton 7. Obsession - Sarah Mclaughlin (acoustic) 8. Foolish Games - Jewel 9. My Heart Will Go on - Celine Dion 10. Family Portrait - Pink 11. The Dragon's Breath - David Arkenstone 12. Get Your Freak On - Missy Elliot 13. Dark Side of the moon - Pink Floyd I had a wide range of music and sound. I think in order to find a speaker that can play the music I like with the same clarity as the Klipsch, you will need to spend double the money. There is nothing in their price range that can compete that I have heard.
  4. Well, I don't think those two are in the same class. That HK is one class above the Denon I think. The Denon 3802 is the same level as the HK 525. The HK 7200 you are talking about is a killer reciever and the Denon that is comparable I think is the 4802. Everyone has different tastes. I myself like the HK and for everyone of us on this forum that like the HK there is a person that likes the Denon. I don't think you can go wrong with either one. As for the 7200 vs the 3802 that is a no brainer IMO. The 7200 is the upper end of the two.
  5. Five Pits would be slaughtered by a 700lb tiger. If you have ever seen a cat fight, they are very skilled. When they roll and dig in with their back claws from the ground up they would rip thru a Pits entire body in one swipe. The front claws would disable a Pit with one swipe as well, or at the least cripple it. You think the Pit has a hard bite, wait until a 700lb cat with 4" fangs bites into you. I have seen documentaries where a WOUNDED tiger held off a pack (6-8) of Hyenas and a Hyena would take a Pit bull IMO. You are trying to compare animals in the wild to domestic animals. It is a whole different ball game. While Pits are the baddest of the domestic world, they don't hold a candle to wild animals that survive on killing.
  6. Easylistener is exactly right and if it's facts you want, here they are. http://www.hometheaterhifi.com/volume_8_4/subwoofers-12-2001.html
  7. How did your RF-5s look when they came? Everything go alright with shipping and how long did it take to get there? I am going to see a few local authorized dealers and if they are willing to come somewhere close to this site's prices then I will use them, if they are still way too high then I will buy from these guys online. I am a risk taker I guess, if I can save $500-$1000 after all is said and done by buying online then it's worth the risk IMO.
  8. I am finding a lot of websites that claim to back the factory warranty through thier store. Do any of you have any experience with any of these places? I am talking about sites like sounddistributors.com, acousticsounddesign.com, 50topsellers.com and places like that. If they are not authorized Klipsch dealers then how do they get the Klipsch speakers so cheap and how can they sell them? I paid $2000 for my pair of RF-7s and these guys are willing to sell me a pair for $1450-$1550. I am thinking about buying my gear from these places in the future so any info you have on any of these companies will be a great help. I would like to save the middle-man fee if I can.
  9. For what it's worth I went with the HK 325. I was trying to decide if the 525 was worth the extra $200 and at this point in time it wasnt for me. I put that $200 towards my RF-7s. The 325 has a little less wattage but it still has all the other features, esp the 7.1 that I wanted. I will also tell you that the HK 325 is all the wattage I need for these RF-7s. My entire complex will be jamming out to my system if I crank it up. I tested it a few times when I first got my speakers and I was in shock. It will push crystal clear music louder than I can stand, I'll tell you that. As for Denon vs Harman Kardon, I think you will find both receivers to be excellent. I myself will always be a HK fan.
  10. THX is just a certification, nothing more. All it means is that the receiver has passed the quality check and gets stamped. THX is not a feature of any kind. They have to pay for that certification and it really means nothing, other than George Lucas has approved of it. Kenwood receivers suck IMHO and they are THX certified if that tells you anything. So a THX optimizer will work on any receiver.
  11. Edit: Never mind, found the answer to my question on the "Tube Thread For Dummies"
  12. *** so if they are the same why not get the good looking one and leave the plastic looking one for the boys *** Actually the HK is built like a tank compared to most receivers including the Denon. The 525 out weighs the 3803 by about ten pounds. Ten pounds is a lot when talking about a receiver.
  13. Harman Kardon fan here. I do not know what the Denon sells for online but you can get the HK 525 for a great price, under $700.00 for sure. Weigh all your options and make the choice that best suits you. Try to audition them both as well.
  14. I would take the Harman Kardon over the Denon myself. It is my personal opinion that HK has the best sound and quality out there as far as receivers go. Don't be mislead by the low wattage listed. My HK 325 that supposedly only pushes 65 watts per channel in stereo is way, way louder and cleaner than the kenwood that claimed 100 watts per channel. I also know people that took back their Onkyo receivers and changed them out for HKs with supposedly a lot less wattage per channel and they claim the HK is louder and sounds better. I would suggest you go out and listen to the Denon and HK before buying anything. HK invented the receiver and has continued to lead the way for 50 years.
  15. Great, thanks for the reply. I looked up your receiver and compared it to mine, they are almost the same. Yours has a little better wattage output, but that's ok. They retail within $100.00 of each other, so I am guessing I'll be very pleased. http://www.harmankardon.com/product_detail.asp?cat=REC∏=AVR%20325&sType=C
  16. For the last month I have been researching speakers and trying to hear them everywhere I went. I kept hearing about Klipsch on the interent but noone seemed to carry them. Tweeter by me was out of them already and so on. I listened to the Boston's at Tweeter and was very disappointed in the sound. I wasnt all that impressed with anything at Tweeter to be honest. Nothing blew me away. I even went to Circuit City to listen to Polk Audio's. I finally found a dealer in my area via the internet that carried both Klipsch and Paradigm. I had read all these awesome reviews about Paradigm at Stereophile and hadnt heard a word about Klipsch so I was really wanting to hear those the most. After listening to the Paradigm Studio/100s I liked them a lot. I then got to hear the big, bad looking Klipsch RF 7s and let me tell you. They blew me and my girlfriend away. As soon as my girl heard them she said those are the ones. The clarity, the sound, everything was godly. Why don't they get more respect from the reviews? I thought they were much better than the Paradigm and I switched back and forth for 30 minutes listening to them with different CDs. Anyway, Klipsch was without a doubt the sound I was looking for. They remind me of the sound I hear at concerts. I also have a question. How will the HK 325 receiver sound with the Klipsch RF 7s? I keep hearing people talk about bi-amping, what does that mean and what else do I need? I'm a total noob when it comes this but I think I'm off to a good start. Got the HK 325 for my starting point, we got the Mitsubishi 65" HDTV widescreen, Sony Progressive Scan DVD and the RF 7s next week. We'll get back speakers, sub and a center speaker within a few months. We are not rich so we have to piece this together one or two pieces at a time. Thanks for any advice in advance.
