  1. I heard a BC song the other day while in the car. Something about a bullet in a kitchen wall. Tried to download but not many BC songs available. Tony B.
  2. I've got a set of Magnepan MG2A speakers if anyone is interested. They're in excellent condition and sound like Magnepans should. I prefer my La Scalas though. Would consider a trade for an amp. Thanks, Tony B.

I don't yet have a 2.8 telephoto which will help a great deal in low light situations like concerts. Hope to purchase a Sigma 70-200mm f/2.8 HSM in the very near future. The images should be much sharper as that lens will let more light in. I currently use a Nikon 24-85mm G f/3.5-4.5 and Nikon 70-300mm ED f/4-5.6 as they are the only two lenses I own at the moment. The Nikon D100 digital body and the other accessories I purchased set me back several thousand dollars. Now it's time to invest in some good glass. I try and take every good photo opportunity that presents itself so as to better my craft. This is my creative outlet and hope one day to do this for a living. It's such great fun at least to me. Thanks again, Tony B.

I've been post processing many images and other work the past few days. Did a publicity shoot for the Dog River Boys and have about 300 images to run through Photoshop. Tony B.

Also sang Yellow Submarine and Boys to name a couple of the Beatles tunes I remember. The band also did the 'hits' that the other members had with their respective bands. Paul Carrack (Squeeze)Tempted Colin Hay (Men at Work) Who Can It Be Now? John Waite (The Babys, Bad English) I Ain't Missing You At All and many more. The band sang Here Comes The Sun minus Ringo who left the stage during that number. When they finished he came back and sang a song he wrote about George Harrison. Very nice tune. Tony B.
  6. After reading the thread that Formica posted in his post above I'd have to say that Foobar2000 is a good player to start with. I may use it from now on. Simple. Great sound. Takes hardly any system resources and offers many audiophile features such as 24\32 bit output, etc. Download and check it out. http://www.foobar2000.org/ It doesn't have the fancy skins but it does have the ability to output great sound which is what it's about anyway. Does anyone know the difference between these two? ---------------- I take it you've done a search say on google? Anyway check out this site for information on Altec Heritage equipment: http://www.audioheritage.org/intro.htm Regards, Tony B.
  8. For those intersted I put some new images up in the Ringo Starr & His Allstar Band thread. Best regards, Tony B.
  9. Thank you everyone! I took these with a Nikon D100 digital slr and Nikon lenses. No flash. Did have a monopod which helped. I edited the original message and put some new images up as well as enlarged the first one. The originals are even better than these but I don't want anyone using them for commercial purposes so I really can't go any larger. I plan on selling them myself. Thanks again, Tony B.

I was wondering what is the best software to PLAY mp3's or wma's on that will take full advantage of my soundcard/ speakers so it would sound the best?? ---------------- I have an Audigy 2 and use my workstation exclusively for sources. It connects to my HK preamp --> McIntosh 2125 amp --> Klipsch La Scalas. I use Winamp 3 for all of my mp3 and Audio CD files. It has the best sound in my opinion. I have used it since at least 1997 and have found none better. Go here and download if you don't already have it. www.winamp.com There is also a digital effects plugin that you can get for it called DFX. It allows you to virtually increase 'Fidelity' of the mp3 your listening to as well as providing 'Ambience', '3D Surround', 'Dynamic Boost' and 'HyperBass' settings. I listen to only 320kb mp3 when I listen to them at all. If I use the DFX plugin it's only to add a little 3D surround and I set that at 1 on a 1 to 9. I don't know for sure but I think that maybe such plugins add some distortion by their nature but I'm not absolutely certain. Winamp for sure. It's the best mp3 player out there and is compatible with Microsoft's Direct sound processing found in Windows XP. Be sure to update your Direct X components so that you'll have the latest updated files. Also might try Sonique mp3 player as well. It's also a good one. www.sonique.com Regards, Tony B.
  11. Went to see Ringo Starr & His Allstar Band Friday evening. What a incredibly fun and great concert this was. If you get the chance go see them. Here are a few of the images I took: Tony B.

I will be out of town this Fri-Sun and then again Tue-Wed, so I'm not sure when the auction closes and if the seller could hang onto the cabinets for a few days. If it's a local shipper, then I don't mind running the cabinets around. If I need to drive them somewhere far, then maybe just gas money? Shoot me a pvt email and we can discuss more. Rob ---------------- Hi Rob, Just wanted to thank you for your offer to help with these speakers. I apologize for not responding sooner. Have been very busy in and out of town this week. I decided not to take the speakers as I have to many other things going on right now that require my time. This would have just been headache although I'd love to have a set of those 816 cabinets and speakers. They do put out some punch for sure. Had a friend that had a set back in the '70s. He'd DJ for dances and the like and I'd help him set up. They were HEAVY let me tell you but oh the sound. My memories of his Altecs are what motivated me to buy my La Scalas when they became available locally. Anyway I am grateful for your willingness to help me. If there is anything I can do for you on the Gulf Coast don't hesitate to ask. Thanks again, Tony B.

If I can help, let me know. I do have a digital camera. ---------------- Thanks. I already know what they look like just don't have any way to get up there to pick them up. There are 4 Altec 816 cabinets that I'll be bidding on. Not sure how to get them to the Gulf Coast. They're not small but shouldn't cost too much to have shipped to me. If I win the auction what would you charge me to do the foot work on your end to get them to me? I'll do the phone work and find a shipper. Let me know. These are priced cheap and I'd hate to pass up four nice low end driver cabinets with speakers. Thanks, Tony B.
  14. I'm pondering an auction for 4 Altec 816 bass cabinets that are located near Brookfield, Conn. Anyone live near there? Thanks in advance, Tony B.
  15. Has anyone had any experience or heard any of the Holfi audio equipment? http://www.holfi.com/ I've got someone wanting to trade some stuff for a Holfi Integra 5.1 integrated surround amplifier. From what I've read online they get good reviews and people seem to like their sound. Most describe it as 'warm', 'neutral', etc. but would like some input from you guys if you have any. Thanks in advance, Tony
