Thanks for the information. I am recently getting back into photography. Having learned and shot with film, transitioning to the digital world has been interesting. I am somewhat amazed with the current reliance on editing software - And at the same time wowed with the ability to shoot 30 frames to keep two! Sounds like you are old school with the attention to detail on the setup and are able to take advantage of what digital offers in regards to having multiple images from which to choose. Again, I have admired your images on these pages for sometime and know that they don’t happen by happenstance,

As always really really great photos! Curious, do you shoot with the camera setting in black and white or do you convert in Lightroom or some other photo editing software?

I do not have experience with Volti upgrades, but I do own a pair of his Rival speakers. Have to say that if the drivers are the same in the rivals as he uses for upgrades, I would highly endorse the move. Josh

I have had three different vintage amplifiers with the original 7591 all tested great and sounded awesome. 2 Mc225s and a scott 299d just saying!

is there something wrong with the originals? I have tried the EH coin base version and have always gone back to the original westinghouse collar based type. To me they sound considerably better. I have not tried the new collar base Tung-sols so I cannot comment on them.

Fresh Lime juice. The limes should be mexican limes available around here at mexican food stores. They are sweeter than the standard lime. In a pinch a key lime will work. In a rocks glass, tequila over ice (certainly not blended!) with a dash of triple sec or cointreau and sweeten with agave nector. You can also make them in a martini shaker just like a up martini.

Cleaning out the work shop. Here are a couple of items that you can have for free. Just pay the shipping and packing. Tung Sol TS 78 tube tester. I bought this at a garage sale some years ago and as far as I know it works as it should. Not a fancy high end tester to be sure. I have no use for it having purchased a Hickok. Photos to follow. Rega Planar 2 Turntable. I picked this up as a project. Having recently rebuilt a Linn LP 12 and built a Lenco based turntable, I dont have the time to mess with this. It needs some work. The motor works and the platter turns. But I think the motor housing needs to be remounted and lined up properly. Should be a pretty good turntable for someone with basic DIY skills. Not to be a dick, but please dont send requests for shipping to various zip codes. The tube tester is pretty light so it shouldnt overly expensive . Im sure the Rega weight and size can be found somewhere. This is the original Planar 2 not the current issue P2. Cheers Josh

I would tend to agree with HDBR Builder in regards to going with a quality direct drive such as the SL -1100A. I believe that the direct drive tts from that era are significantly undervalued in regards to performance. For whatever reason, the manufacturers and tt designers have focused on developing better belt drive tts and have until recently ignored direct drive and idler drive turntables. In my experience I have not heard a belt drive turntable that can match the drive and performance of a well isolated idler or direct drive. Rather than pulling the record under the cartridge they drive the platter virtually eliminating cartridge drag. It is no surprise that a number of manufacturers are offering direct drive and idler drive models. If you have the inclination buying an idler drive lenco and using the drive components with modern motor isolation can result in a world class turntable that will outperform any belt drive - even the $20,000.00 versions. Here is a thread of my repurposed lenco turntable. I also endorse the ultrasonic approach. I put together a DIY ultrasonic set up and it works awesome. I bought the ultrasonic cleaner on ebay and used the motor unit from here https://thevinylstack.com/ultrasonic-cleaning/ultra-sonic-spin-record-cleaning-kit/ And the filtration set up from here https://www.cleanervinyl.com/micron-fluid-filtration.html This DIY set up does virtually everything the more expensive ultrasonic cleaners do. It does however take up a lot of space. The unit does take up a fair bit of room however which is why I have stepped up to a stand alone unit from Kirmuss Audio. I was going to put the DIY unit in the garage sale section. If you interested let me know. I will sell all of the above for a very fair price. If you have a place to put it it is an excellent option.
