Are you shipping them via Forward Air? I just sent along the original vault to phoenix via forward air and the process was very easy albeit long. I would certainly say that they are a good option and very very affordable! josh

Its amazing that there are so few SACDs available. The sound is out of this world very much like vinyl but without the issues (pops cleaning prissy bs) associated with vinyl. I find mysealf not buying cds/records because I want them on SACD. Check out www.sacdinfo.com for great reviews and updates on whats coming. I think the cherry would be awesome. My Cornwalls are cherry original from the factory and they look absolutely great with cane grills. Even my wife doesnt mind them in the living room! Joshnich

1. Currently own two pairs of cornwalls 1977 and 1984. Perhaps would like to own a pair of Belle Klipsch 2 I purchased a pair of cornwalls when i was 22. 3.49 4. Have never heard any current klipsch models other than teh outdoor speakers I bought a couple of years ago. When I was looking for my most recent cornwalls I looked at ( but never heard) a pair of used KG 4s. I stayed with my corwall quest because I after a number of years chasing quality sound in other speakers ( Paradigm, parasound, NHT, bose) I never found anything that I could afford that even came close to Klipsch Heritage. Actually I hadnt heard anything at any price that was as pleasing to me. 5. I didnt see the socket attached to the vault. Where was (is) it attached? Ill look again when I get home. If its gone I will attach another. It would be a good idea to keep one with the vault. I just took possession of my new Cornwalls They are 1984s in cherry with cane cloth and all is well. Now I have immediately begun to think that I want to change the K-57M to an older K-55 with a cast horn. Is this something that is done? I just dont like the fact that the horn is plastic and would love to have the cast horn like my old 78's. The crossover is a B-3. Thanks in advance. I am now in possession of a crate that was built to ship cornwalls. David Herkert so kindly offered the services of the crate that had been used most recently by dndphishin. The seller of my speakers drove them to Tulsa ( where dndphishin had the crate) and packed them into the crate and had them shipped to me in San Francisco. They arrive on Friday. It would be ideal if I could have the crate turned right around to someone who needs it. This is obviously contingent on David approving it. Which shouldnt be a problem as he envisions the crate serving members of the forum in order to preserve cornwalls as they are moved around the country! Please respond to my email asap if you are in need of a way to worry free ship your speaks! BTW using this crate allows you to very reasonably ship cornwalls anywhere in the country my cost from Tulsa to SF was only 90 bucks! All good questions I wondered about the woofer replacement as well. I couldnt help think that the water stain on the bottom of one of the speakers may have had something to do with having to replace the woofer. joshnich

FYI,, There is a pair of Original Cornwall lls on ebay - you know the ones with the mid range and the tweeter mounted verticaly. The serial number readible in the photo is 1FO12 - which is a different format than what is listed at http://home.earthlink.net/~ivol/klipsch_cornwall/klipsch_date_codes.htm So I imagine that that they are quite old. I have to admit that we didnt do a lot of "critical" listening back then - unless of course you count Hendrix at ear bleeding volume along side 75 of your best friends as "critical". But I would have to think that the sound would most certainly be effected by the vertical horn position. JoshNich

I too am expecting some cornwalls that are having problems finding a way to the west coast. They are 1984 models that I paid 800bucks for but the shipping senario has been painful. The seller went in the hospital (hes ok and really appears to be good guy) and now hes offering to meet me half way in new mexico ( the speaks are in arkansas). I am not in a huge hurry except Im awaiting (hopefully latter this week ) a scott 299 from craig. I had hopped they would both arrive at the same time but you can't have everything! Is there a place to find out the changes, and when they happened, to cornwalls over the years that they were built.? I have figured out a bit by searching past posts but I am still unclear on things like when they went from vertical to horizontal mid range horn mounts, and when they changed mounting the components on the back of the motorboard to the front. Am interested in any input. Thanks joshnich

I think I am going to stay on the cornwall quest. I think that the friend that has mine on permanent loan will contribute enough to the cost of replacement that i can afford to find something really sweet in the cornwalls! Thanks for the input. Josh

I owned a pair of cornwalls for a number of years before permanantly loaning them to a friend. I have come to long for the sound of my cornwalls and have begun searching for an appropriate pair. In the process I have come across a pair of La Scalas. Is there any insight into what to look for in La Scalas? Do they use the same sort of serial number coding as the cornwalls? And were the changes in components year by year similar to the cornwalls? And finally, I have never heard La Scalas what is the comparison to cornwalls? thanks in advance Joshnich
