  1. Thanks everyone there is only one inductor in "C" network. I haven't got it out of my speaker, but from what I remember the wires seem like they came with it? I wonder if I can change them out, or if they are under specific layers or foils I may screw up. Its the stock one in the Crites crossover I have. I would like to test different wire to it before trying new inductors. Just to see. Drives me nuts having those two wires different.
  2. I was wondering if you hooked up the inductor in a heresy network from the input to the "inner" lead of the coil then the outer lead goes to the woofer terminal? I'm thinking about experimenting with inductors.
  3. I found this old one. Posted it in schematic thread as well.
  4. I was wondering if the entire input signal Highs, midrange, bass run through the 1uf cap? Would this cap affect the tone of all frequencies or just the bass? If you can't hear tone please only think does the signal go through it at some point. Thanks.
  5. Miniature La Scala's for desktop computers. No subwoofer. Variety of wood finishes.
  6. Not sure I understand. Is 2.2 ok? Or you mean something lower than a 2uf? Its about availability for me as some of the caps I prefer to try are only in the 2.2 range, and anything differing would be custom orders. Which means even more spending.
  7. What about a light bluish grey paint? Might look pretty unique in a good way.
  8. Can I use a 2.2 uf value cap in the 2.uf position ( treble)? If so or not what would it do. Also a 5 percent nominally tolerance so it's possible it could land around 2.uf anyway or even higher.

  11. Thanks Bill W. for all the help its back to factory "C" spec now ( even the jumpers correct). Very warm/ lush, full balanced sound. Bass is back and I can here drum kits again, and bass guitar separation from kick drums. Most recordings are forgiving now almost zero fatigue. Thats just mp3's to records are even better. Its gonna stay this way. Here is a photo just to make sure. Thanks to the forum for all the knowledge available ( schematics and much more), and my brother for doing most the work. The Crites family for superb customer service, and fast shipping of my caps. For the OCD types I know I didn't have another black tie for the other cap. I almost put on another white one, but wasn't sure this would be staying this way. I recycled everything pretty much from the crossover so I would hear the true differences. The squaker wire was a tight fit. Almost changed that out but we got around that by snipping just a bit off the collar of the spade so the wire would just fit to the transformer. Its all good so far.
  12. Did you find the II's to have more bass especially upper bass/ lower midrange? Seems fuller to me in room than the older h-700's I been testing. I think the h700's have incredible open highs though which really make it hard for me to decide which I like better. I could ramble on for hours about the two not gonna I been going nuts trying to figure out which I like better. I would need to have the two side by side to make that call. I may get around to that this weekend. I may be inclined to say the IIs have an overall "fuller" presentation. Fuller is a better word for it. Seems that way for me too. Digging the highs though on the oldies. Plus the cabs being different that will effect bass differently. Wood vs. mdf backs. Both have benefits for different situations.

  14. Dang wish I seen this about a year ago. So this is a phono preamp that would work with a HT receiver that doesn't have one right?
  15. I like the tweeter better in the one and the bass better in the II.
  16. For three front channels you make a small box- the "Bud" box and add a mono amp for the center speaker. Cool, sorry if I read over that didn't understand it. Thanks.
  17. How did they do it back then with the preamp, amp section? Did the old receivers or separates accommodate the three front speakers?
  18. Looking for some original C crossovers from the old Heresy's. Clean and original no mods and hopefully a pair that came out of a matched set.
