  1. Definitely colder in my house now that its approaching winter. So not impossible its overheating but seems more difficult. I unplugged it and can test this evening. Also Zen is correct I don't remember exactly when I bought it but its closer to 20 years old than 2 🙂
  2. Noticed it just a little bit ago but happened very rarely I didn't know where it was coming from today we were watching Loki on disney+ and was happening every few minutes and noticed it was coming from the subwoofer. I then ran a subwoofer test on youtube 100Hz to 4Hz and It seems to happens in likes pairs thump - thump - pause - thump - thump - pause (repeat) Take this part with a grain of salt as I didn't have a good angle nor have I really watched my subwoofer really before, but to me it seemed like the back/bottom was jumping out more so than the rest when the thump happened but barely so again take that with a grain of salt. I turned it off for now as to not damage anything but curious if anyone has advice as to what to check? Or dig into. I love my Klipsch setup and ideally would love to repair it if possible. Thank you so much in advance. Edit Just noticed I might should have posted this in the "Technical/Restorations" section but I didn't 😞 I know this community is great and I am sure people read multiple sections. So I won't cross post it yet as to not create spam but let me know if I should or I can wait if I don't get any help. Sorry about that!
  3. Thank you so much for the replies!! I will have to look into "REW and a UMIK-1 and Ratbuddyessy" haven't even heard about that I was browsing the picture thread just for fun and noticed some people have the RS-7s in rear and RB-75s for sides? Is that the preferred method?
  4. I am moving to a new house and I am trying to prepare for my hopefully much much nicer theater room. The new room will be 13ft 8.5in wide and 17ft 9in deep with 9 foot ceilings. The walls/ceiling will be down so I was planning on installing 4 in-ceiling speakers for Atmos. My current setup is a full Klipsch speaker setup from early 2000’s 2x RF7 - fronts 1 RC7 - center 2 RB75 - rear 2 RS7 - sides 1 RSW15 - subwoofer Is it worth it to upgrade this setup to Atmos? Or Should I start over with a new set? If I'm keeping them and upgrading to Atmos, what in-ceiling speakers will match well with them? If I get new speakers what would be a good replacement? I know RS7s are a type of bipole speaker. Will that cause any problems? Are these speakers going to sound good in a room this size? I was using them in a much bigger room before however it wasn’t as rectangular or closed in. Thank you in advance for all the help.
  5. Thanks a lot Bill I measured it last night with a thermometer. Right after watching "quantum of solace" and the thermometer read 123 degrees Fahrenheit. The way I measured it was I just held it in what I thought was the hottest location without opening it up of course :-p Do those temperatures sound okay? I think part of my paranoia is I do not like to buy used but this is the amp I have wanted for many years and I couldn't afford one new. Its great to hear that yours lasted 12 years this one was originally purchased in 2008 so should still have lots of life.
  6. Question for the B&K amp owners I just purchased a B&K 200.7 S2 used. I just set it up for the firs time last night did some demos watched half a movie etc etc. Is it normal for this thing to get INSANELY hot. I mean it was very very hot to the touch? is this normal and ok? I want to keep this amp for a very very long time so I am concerned at how much heat it was putting off. Thanks
  7. I am buying my first amp/pre-amp combo soon for my 7.1 setup and am curious about XLR Cables? Monoprice seems to have them for $5 each... which would be very cheap.. are they bad cables? Even Bluejeancable charges $26. I realize I probably don't need XLR for a 3 foot run but I planned on using it anyways.... Any ideas on monoprice XLR cables? Are the Bluejeancables worth the extra $150? Or should I look somewhere else? Any ideas? Thanks! Also looked at these http://www.amazon.com/Cables-Go-4005...9387456&sr=1-3
  8. So I finally purchased a pair of RB-75s!!! I am excited :-) They are a bit bigger than I expected... lol Which leads me to two questions 1: So my question is is their any problem with sitting RB-75 on their sides? 2: Also and just to clarify. Use the RB-75s as surrounds behind me and the RS-7s as the left and right surrounds. Thanks a lot for everyones help.
  9. I have a few questions about speaker wire and I have always gotten nothing but amazing help at Klipsch forums so i thought I would ask here. I currently am using Monster XP by Monster Cable for my Reference 7 setup. (5.1) Can't find an actual gauge online but I think most people assume its 16 I just recently bought a used pair of RB-75s and am upgrading to 7.1 and either need to replace all my speaker wire or need to run new speaker wire for just the new back surrounds. I believe my longest run will be right around 50 feet (this is just an estimate). Do you think monoprice's 12 gauge speaker wire (2-Conductor) is good quality? Is it better than what I had? Is there anything else I should look into? I am currently thinking: http://www.monoprice.com/products/product.asp?c_id=102&cp_id=10239&cs_id=1023901&p_id=3844&seq=1&format=2 I don't want to break the bank but I also don't want to cheap out and sacrifice quality. Also I have 14 pairs of banana plugs: http://www.amazon.com/QuickLock-MKII-Connectors-Crimping-Terminations/dp/B000WXAX6G Do you think those will work fine with 12 gauge speaker wire? Thanks a lot!!!
  10. Yeah, I haven't had a very good setup for 7.1 till now. I am settling into my house and am looking into home theater upgrades. I don't think 2 more speakers will cost that much so I might do it. I did hear a 9.1 demo at Dolby's CES booth 2 years ago and was blown away... the height really makes a difference. I heard a 11.1 demo at DTS's booth this year and was honestly not impressed (well I mean it sounded good but didn't see much of a benefit). I am actually thinking about replacing my amp with seperates and was looking at the Onkyo pr-sc5508 which supports 9.1. But then I would need 2 amps... I don't know of any 9 channel amps :-( Of course I also have NO idea where to buy the Onkyo pr-sc5508 I can't find anywhere with it less than retail and I think we all know no one ever pays retail for home theater equipment :-p 9 may be overkill but would be nice since im already getting a pre-amp that supports it to get an amp that supports it JUST IN CASE! :-)
  11. I had NOTHING but problems with comcast... it is by far the worst company I have ever had to deal with. They also raised my rates 5 times in 9 months. Customer service was horrible I tried to get an HD-DVR and 9 service people came to my house non of them had the HD-DVR I had to go pick it up myself. Not to mention comcast compresses all HD channels they squeeze 2-3 HD channels on same bandwidth most use for just 1. I currently have Verizon Fios, however my mom has AT&T Uverse and that cable box is amazing... by far the best one I have used, the internet speeds are very fast and the channels look great from what I have seen I haven't spent a ton of time with it but I will take AT&T Uverse over comcast any day :-) Then again I would also rather cut cable than go with comcast again...
  12. Sorry jrod... i knew it was RB-75s... just didn't type it for some reason. Anyways thanks a lot for the help both of you, sounds like I could go with the RB-75s. Or you two are both recommending different speakers the RB 81 II or RB81s. Also you both are recommending going with book shelves versus getting another set of surrounds. Is it typical to have pair of surrounds and a pair of bookshelves for a 7.1 setup?
  13. I currently have a whole Reference 7 setup 2 RF-7s 1 RC-7 2 RS-7 1 RSW-15 I am wondering what I should buy to complete the setup... are there any new klipsch that would complement them for rear surrounds or should I try to pick up some old reference 7 speakers. And the major question is should i grab 2 RS-7s or would it be better with 2 RB-7s? Thanks a lot for the help!!!
  14. After looking around, at mainly just amps, i think I am going to take bobG's advice buy an amp fairly soon and wait for the pre-amp so I can get all the HD codecs and all that fun stuff when they are finalized and more pre amps are available with that technology. However, does anyone know if there will be a big difference between the 125 watt and 200 watt amps. I want the best sound quality, but if the only thing I am loosing is how loud it can go. I will probably just grab the 125 watt and either save money or buy a higher quality amp. Because I know I could NEVER listen to my denon at max volume and its only 110 watts. Thanks again for all your help :-)
  15. I have heard a lot about B&K around here and I am very interested in those :-) I am hoping the announce a new pre-amp with DTS-HD, TrueHD and PCM (or whatever all those codecs are for blue-ray and hd-dvd). If I am going to upgrade :-) I want all the new technology, hehe. I also only have a 5.1 setup, but i figure if im buying an amp for the long haul, I might as well get prepared for 7.1 :-) I just wanted to make sure seperates is a good way to go, before i continued looking.
