  1. I think I still have the same exact tubes as when I posted here in 2018. Still have Amperex Bugle boys in all 4 small signal positions, the Penta Labs KT-88s (sometimes use the Genelax KT-88s), and a Sovtech rectifier. I use the VRDs regularly and they are very pleasing. This is my 3rd pair. I kept buying and selling them, trying other amps, until I realized the VRDs are some of the very best amps I've tried for the Lascalas I have. My NBS preamp is holding up as well.
  2. So many trips to Hope and hearing Roy's 2-way Jubs and how well they imaged. When I was running 3 and 4 way systems the sound field was tall but the actual sound stage image wasn't as coherent as with just 2-way. Having TAD 4002 drivers I get better extension in 2-way then using a 510 tweeter with a K691. I finally figured out my room size does not call for a 9 foot tall 4-way MCM (but it is cool to have !!). It sounds better closer to the floor. I am using less amplifiers but of higher qualiity. I still listen to the same music. No changes there.
  3. Very nice work to completion as usual. Thanks for sharing.
  4. There are lots of K77V tweeters out there. But I'd be careful. As I stated I tried to restore my lascalas to original and wound up with several mismatched and poor performing alnico tweeters. Especially, poor extension !! So I eventually bought K77X, a new known good matched pair. I agree though that the OP has a good point about the AA and K77M........not a good match.
  5. No. They are both almost identical and from different measurement tools. You can see the filter knocking back both the voltage and FR of the driver at 6K, which looks normal to me. That sweep 3 above bothered me. Why? Because in my lascalas I have AA networks, K55V mid, and god forbid K77X tweeter. My measurements never showed the tweeter with anywhere near that kind of power below 6K. I think my combo sounds excellent and I'm getting away with it. There is no harshness till you overdrive the room. I know it's not the preferred setup. 😀 It's just very hard to find a good matched pair of alnico K77. I have bought and tried many. A bunch of mismatches and poor extension. So at least now I have a known good pair of matched Klipsch tweeters.
  6. Now this looks significantly more correct for an AA decay of the K77M compared to Sweep 3 above.
  7. The biggest improvement was allowing the TADs to stretch out to 20K and not having a second/different driver. Better quality sound. The TADs are clean and clear top to bottom. 1 darn good driver. When I was using Roy's settings in 3-way the crossover was pretty seemless anyhow. I always liked 3-way because I felt it gave more emphasis to the highs. But in the end not needed in my room. I can remember using the 691s on the 402s in 2-way with Roy's settings. That was VERY hard to beat in my room on every type of music I tried. That was the most recent setup in Hope as well and it sounded excellent.
  8. Something doesn't look right with the K77M having so much energy below 6K. Sweep 3. Are we sure the AA network is operating correctly?
  9. I have long since changed my UJ setup (and my 4-way MCM) both, to only 2-way + subs. Both systems have TADs on the 402s. I use Roy's settings in a pair of Xilicas. Took me a while to adjust because I was always a 3-way guy up until a couple of years ago. Turns out less ended up being more in my room.
  10. I have 3-way UG Jubs with TADs 4002/691s and 884 and 684 subs. All that in any 2-way/3-way + either subs combo simply does not approach the new Heritage Jubs. I was there and heard them side by side. A different beast altogether. But........I'm actually very happy with all that as is........for now. Where else you gonna go? MCM maybe?
  11. I have used Goldpoint units before. Very nice. https://www.goldpt.com/
  12. Wow, this is incredible that you were able to figure this out and build it. I would love to hear how it works on the #1 Khorn someday. Congrats on a very special project. 👍
  13. I think you should spray paint on her car in big letters..........."She dented my dustcap". 😀 Then, burn all her clothes. Then, burn her car after you break all the windows with a hammer and slit all the tires and seats. Then, tell her you love her and to please never do that again or you'll do something really mean next time. I think you'll be good to go after all that. Oh..........and I can vouch that the vacuum method works well. Must have a canister vac with a hose. Open the vent to reduce draw. Be gentle. 😀
  14. Hot looking speakers. But check out the KPT-904M. Inspiration.
  15. Sorry, I didn't realize you already had the top sections and were into DSP and all. Heck that sort of changes everything. If you can hang onto that bass bin and find another it would be worth the wait. I also agree with Rigma that a Jub can make a nice center channel...............or a mono setup until the second bass bin shows up. Let face it, if you had both bass bins and both top sections but had no idea how to setup and run..........I think you'd be worse off. Understanding how to properly setup and dial in underground Jubilees is 80% of it. Heck you are already there.
  16. You would still have to purchase the top sections. Let's not forget. 🙂 You could always bid on the "Holy Grail" Golden Jubilees for $125K. Looks like the same seller............Then you'd have the 3 piece set.
  17. No offense but you have an aweful lot of questions after the fact. Bascailly, you could keep that speaker and be on the lookout for another. It might take a few years. They are out there. If you can't hold onto it then get rid of it. I see little use for it as is. It is not a sub. It really needs its sister. You just got yourself into an easy long term project. 🙂
  18. That is an underground Jub. Good luck with the search.
  19. Which are you looking for? New or underground? If new, you need a Klipsch dealer. If underground good luck and expect to pay a lot.
  20. Probably nothing wrong. When you listen to individual drivers it's hard to imagine they can sound like they do alone, yet magical when all played together. You should measure the FR using REW or TRU TRA and verify the bass cabinets are working correctly. My bet is nothing is wrong. How does the speaker sound when you play all the drivers?
  21. Apparently this system was either used by or belongged to the band Triphammer. I think a 1990s heavy metal band????
  22. John, Nice start to your North Reading Engineering forum, by the way.............where you are showing this MC-2100 rebuild. Your HH Scott 299C / LK-72 unit for sale appears to be an awesome recreation of that unit. The finished product and the test data you present are very impressive. Someone will enjoy that for a long time.
  23. John updated two MC2100s for me a few years ago. Both still excellent.
  24. When we visited Valerie's house she gave out those books and STAMPED Paul's signature on them. So I have the book and mine has a stamp. This was in 2007. There was probably 20 of us in her house and I am pretty sure we all got them. Long time ago. Edit: Well I went and looked in my book and I have made a mistake. Mine has a "Valerie Klipsch" stamped signature...........not a Paul Klipsch stamp. I looked through the book and that's all there is. So back then, that is what she did that day we visited. I do rememeber her stamping my book. I just never really looked closely at what it was.
