  1. Thanks Michael! I agree that the sweet spot has increased quite a but! No prob's on the Academy! It's simply a very nice, very open, very full speaker and I couldn't be happier! MY wife of course thinks their too big....LOL....I told her to go back to the horse barn it's my dang mancave!
  2. Thanks to Spongeworthy (and I REALLY mean it) I got to hear these things for the very first time. He sold me a pair of verticle CW's for my mains.......anyway, I simply unplugged my forte II's and put the CW's in their place. The sound is amazing! Open....airy.....full....I was fully sold on Crosby, Stills, & Nash Southern Cross....I had a smile as big as I don't know what...my wife simply said..."don't you think that's overkill"....WTF does she know...LOL!!!! Anyway, I have to play with placement and of course the room isn't close to being accoustically ready, but DANG they sound GREAT!!!!! forte II's have more bass, but, not nearly as open. In fact I could never really turn up the volume from my Marantz 2385 on the forte's....The CW's I had it ROCKING!!!!.....Signed, Happy in Timberlake!!!!!! Keith, sorry I didn't call you first!!!!
  3. You bunch of sissy's! Drink "whisky" to heal the pain...ARRRRG!
  4. The room is 21 long x 16 wide and seating will pretty much be in the middle. I may just do 6.1 as I have a french door to the back right which does not give room for that speaker...so...I'm thinking 6.1
  5. If I use my forte II's for surrounds, it'll be a "heft" for sure....but what about the rear speakers? What would work well? I actually have a single RS-7 that I'm not using....do you think that would be inappropiate considering the lack of information and the type of information passed to the rear?
  6. Well, I'm a proud new PAPA...of some new speakers [] ...... On Firay I'm picking up verticle Cornwalls from Spongeworthy, and I bought Michael Colters Academy center.....I will use those as the front sound stage and my forte II's for surrounds....I have a chance at a pair of minty Chorus II's which could be surrounds and forte II's for rears...kinda sounds like overkill to me......for space sake, what other otions can "you's guy's" reccomend for rear speakers if I don't get the Chorus II's. I could hang these and mount them high......TIA!
  7. Hmmmmm, I'll try this with my forte JJ's....of course they need no additional bass, but makes sense.
  8. WOW! As much as I thought about it, I didn't upgrade anything last year.... For '09, I have an Academy on the way from Michael Colter and am picking up Verticle Cornwalls from Spongeworthy on Friday...'09 is shaping up to be a fine year!
  9. My 401K turned into a 201K. I just hope I can get it back to a 301K.

    recievers?

Yes, it can help...the Onkyo 806 seems to be a very nice selection. I would go out on a limb here though.....If you REALLY want an upgrade at a VERY reasonable price, try getting a used pair of RF-3 II's for your mains. I guess you can get these for about $300. I've not heard the RF15's, but I am imagining they may be a little "thin". The good news about your system is that you can make upgrades on everything...the bad news is it'll cost you. My personal feeling is try new mains...RF-35's, RF-3's...something like that. Then down the road, try a new receiver if your happy with the receiver you have.
  11. I was bored S-Less for several days...LOLLOL...a nice cheap cigar could have been what the doctor ordered....I think we may be coming down in a few weeks again anyway.
  12. This is all impressive Michael. You commented that your dad was a civil engineer and you built it to impress him, my dad is a civil engineer and I don't think I could ever impress him...LOL! How does the ceiling look? Have you ever stippled Block walls?
  13. Congrats! Man I was down there last week myself....I wasn't invited over for cheap cigars and malted beverages...
  14. On my theater upstairs I have RF-3II's (awesome towers) but when I buit that system I was using alot of DVD-/SACD. Had I not I would have opted for the RS-7. I do have 1 RS-7 for my rear in the 6.2 set-up and am always amazed at how dang good it sounds when I listen to "all channels" music. In my theater downstairs I'll be using verticle Cornwalls for mains, Academy center, Chorus II's, for surrounds, and forte II's for rear speakers....so yet again I'm opting for no real surround speakers.
  15. Yea, I've not caught one that big myself, but I've seen people catch time and again fish over the limit size. Nice fighters for sure! Nice Fish!
  16. Nice! I fish for Red Drum at Drum Inlet on Portsmouth Island on the core banks in NC! Just caught a 45" Barracuda a few days ago off of Ft. Lauderdale....GOOD TIMES!
  17. Harry, Glad you're doing better! As you know my son is type 1. It certainly is easier to tell someone the right thing to eat and right way to live more than it is actually doing it....so I won't. Just glad you're better! Stay healthy friend!
  18. Will be thinking about your family, but dang CAL,who's that guy standing nect to your son...geeze man, don'yt you think you shoulf watch out for that shady charictor? .....
  19. No, I would just want to build my theater again. Having said that, I've heard the Khorns and would love to own a pair! I could sell my wife, kidz, kAtZ...any of the above...
  20. Nice boat! That's roughly the size I've been told I would enjoy as one can still pull it on the road without too much fanfare.
  21. HOLY KRAPOLA! We just bought a home and it most likely went for 20% below reasonable market value in reasonable times, but went for market value in modern day times. It's funny we are already refinancing it less than two months after closing and enough time hasen't passed to even be credited for paying county taxes yet. So last night we were in a state of panic and negociations to get this all worked out so we can close this AM, then board a filght to Florida later this AM. So at the end of the day, we'll get a check back in the about of roughly $5K....crazy times!
  22. Pictures would be helpful...in assessing the situation at hand...Hang in there Harry, where coming for you....errr...the nurses!
