  1. "Crazy are those who spend all their money on a Mercedes" EXCELLENT!! and correct, of course. <drool>mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm... Tannoy Westminsters.... </drool>
  2. Hey man!!! When did you let the LaScalas go? Are the RF-7's the first choice, or the Cornwalls? I'm glad you still have the peach. woo
  3. I'll be travelling from Bowling Green, KY. If you can get it to here I'll get it to you. woo
  4. I brought two Cornwalls with risers back from Atlanta in my 1996 Ford Escort Wagon. The Forester is larger, I'm pretty sure. Woo
  5. Riding my bicycle across Iowa last summer, I saw a pair of Cornwalls in a bar. Woo
  6. Cool ideas from all corners. I'm definitely making it this year. woo
  7. For really involving lines, baroque music comes to mind. For inspirational music (for listening) that's modern and involving, by one of my absolute favorite living players, check out Edgar Meyer and his extensive discography. http://www.edgarmeyer.com/ trust me on this, but as a musician your son will be who he'll be. Just be sure his teachers lead him to build his technical ability. 'Cause THAT'S what will allow him to put what's in his brain out to the listener's ears. woo (edited for clarity... well... as much as I can convey at any rate)
  8. Perhaps, but I can't think of a nicer death - except maybe Khorns on the 14' wall. [] woo
  9. Congrats man! Now leaving your listening chair will be even harder than before. woo
  10. I've posted the rest of the guy's stuff that he hasn't been able to sell locally in the Garage Sale section of the forum. I'm not sure he wants to ship or not, but all the gear is in good shape. There's a bargain there if someone wants it. woo
  11. Awesome folks! Thanks. I do believe it is an RSW-10. It has 2 10" drivers, one active and one passive I'm pretty sure. I think I'll look for a Harman Kardon 630 or 730, something with a pre-out. The tape out doesn't change with volume. woo
  12. Just purchased this for $200 from a fellow here in town. I know nothing about it. here's another pic I got it for my son's heresys in his 10'x10' room. Currently I have it connected to the Tape Output 1 from his Harman Kardon 430 into the Line Out section. Volume control is on the side. How should I best set this up? Should I seek out a two channel amp with a pre-out? Thanks all, I'm sure you'll know what it is. woo
  13. Uh, yeah. what those other guys said. Congrats. I would definitely have them rebuilt before firing them up, however. woo
  14. Pauln, The mid '80s steel framed bikes are the best deals out there on XXXX (the E-place). But you know that since you have one! woo
  15. Suprisingly, I have not gone through a bunch of tires, so I'm not much of a tire expert. I tend to replace them when they get worn and typically use what's available at the local shop and what the wrench there suggests. I suppose if I were a racerboy it would make a difference, but I'm not. or if the roads around here were bad, but they are superb roads for the most part and really really easy on tires. That being said, on my xtracycle I have Kenda 26x1.5. I'll probably have to replace them more often as I regularly haul 100 pound loads with it (groceries, lawn mowers, beer, dog food, book cartons, guitars, etc.). The Bacchetta recumbent has Kenda Caliente's 650x23 (I think... that's what came with it when I bought it used... no threads poking through yet). On my 1985 steel bike I have Bell tires 27x1 1/4 (bought from Wal Mart - that supplier of high end bike tires). On the Slipstream bike 700x40 whatevers... they have been on the bike since I bought it used from a fellow 3 years ago (it's the rainy day bike - used it today.. finally some rain!). On the Lemond Zurich (bless it's neglected soul) I have Specialized something or others... the bike shop replaced it for me after pointing out that threads were starting to poke through. I'm not nearly as 'blingy' with the bikes as I am with the sound systems I have. [] woo
  16. Definitely been riding. Went to my second RAGBRAI this year and because it was a relatively flat route I took the xtracycle with the guitar in tow. That was a fun ride. The sign on the case says, 'do you play? Play me a tune please!" 7 players played music for me, and 1 of them was serious good! After I got back I got this bike, a recumbent Bacchetta Corsa. Me waiting on a train Much fun. I've had it a tad over 4 weeks now and have just under 900 miles on it. Then again, I'm a riding fool. [] oh, while I was in Iowa, I saw these in a bar in Cedar Falls... the picture is by one of my riding buds, who put in the caption, the guy in the picture is the one who organized the RABGRAI trip from Western Kentucky University. There were also a couple of Heresy II's in there as well. woo
  17. Next time I'm over I'll bring one of mine. It attaches pretty easily. Woo
  18. mum's the word. About crossovers... I have ALK crossovers in my khorns, and buddy goodness yes, they made a HUGE difference. On a pair of my Cornwalls that I took down to Hope, AR in September 2005, Daddy Dee's Heresys had MUCH better sound. I purchased a pair of Bob Crites Crossovers, (type and had them put in on the spot... WOW... what a HUGE difference in the sound. Like you, I thought they sounded just fine until I heard the difference. I recently let BS Button, who lives in Bowling Green, use my Khorn ALK crossovers and I put the stock, 30 year old AA's back in them while he listened to the ALK's on his La Scalas. It was almost like putting a curtain in front of the speaker. I'm pretty sold on the ALK's, but you have to drop some coins for them. I got mine used for $400 (I think). The standard rebuild is way less. I tell ya what... I'll bring my crossovers over next time I visit and we'll hook 'em up. See what you think. While you might not want to buy a set, they'll definitely let you know what a crossover rebuild will lead towards. Somebody here'll pipe up if the ALK (standard ALK) won't work for your horns, but I think they will. woo
  19. DUDE! You have a PEACH! And you didn't tell me. [:'(] OK, now I'm JEALOUS!! you should send that ST-70 to Nosvalves for a 'tune-up'. You would be glad you did. Really. really! woo p.s. I'm very willing to spend other people's money.
  20. Tommy Emmanuel and Jim Nichols, two acoustic flatpickers at the top of their game, recorded 'Chet Lag' a while back, and it went out of print and was nearly impossible to find. It's been reissued as 'Happy Hour'. If you don't tap your toes listening to this, you ain't got no toes. woo
  21. Kimball, I'm not going to be able to go that far off route tomorrow, but I really appreciate the invite. It's been a great ride so far. I mentioned that I wanted to hear a klipsch setup while I was on the road, and Friday night of last week while in Cedar Falls for an overnite, we went to a pizza place called 'The Other Place' next to the campus of UNI, and the sound system there is Cornwalls and Heresy II's. They weren't placed well, but I thought it was neat to see a bar/pizza joint with such a fine setup. Anyway, thanks for the invite. If ever you're in Bowling Green, you're always welcome. Woo
  22. Loud&Clear, Thanks for the invite! I would really love to hear Fortes. Let me see how the legs feel by Tuesday/Wednesday. It would turn it into a 134 mile day for me. I've done that kind of distance before... but.... as of this writing I'm thinking it's not likely I'll be able to veer that far off route. I'll let you know by Tuesday of that week. They have computer access along the route and I'll make sure I get back with you. thanks again, Woo
  23. Thanks! I'll have a blast. Last year was the first time I've ridden RAGBRAI, and it was the best vacation ever. Mississippi in the summertime? Whew! thanks for the invite. I may take y'all up on that sometime. Woo
