  1. Thanks Neil, it was hit or miss for a month or two, but I'm healthier now then I was.
  2. To make a long story pretty short. I had a very serious medical condition in July of 2018, 3 1/2 months in the hospital and about 13 months in a physical rehab center. Well I'm back home now and I finally had a chance to listen to my 2 channel system. It consist of a Peach preamp, an Njoe Tjoeb CD player, two MC250's and vintage Khorns. Well I turned the system on and it worked fine, at first. Then I turned the channel balance knobs on the peach and got a bunch of static from both speakers. I turned the system off and turned all of the knobs numerous times. I turned it back on and let it play for about one half hour. There was no more static when the knobs were in the same place, but the static started again when I turned them. Should I spray the controls with deoxit and see what happens or do you think there is a more serious problem? I don't want to damage anything. Can leaving a system idle for 15 months cause any damage.
  3. I guess I should have read more closely, my friend grew up two streets over from where he lived.
  4. I was hoping to see my khorn in the video.
  5. Could Raw on a label be raw gum? Why . was that hard to work with?

    Pcats

I was wondering if anyone had any Pcats for sale, or if Mark might have a pair or two at his place.
  7. I drove to Detroit to get my Khorns. Well worth the trip. To me the thing I noticed most is that they are like microscopes. Bad recordings are bad times one hundred. My friends really like to listen to the remastered version of The Wall through my system. I listen to every kind of music and if it's a quality recording it will sound great. Enjoy your new Horns.
  8. Why are all of these old threads being brought back? It is interesting seeing people who are no longer on the forum back when it was a little more wide open.
  9. I have number 779, and 1096. They sound great. If I lived closer I would think about picking this up. Congratulations on your sale.
  10. I drove from Pittsburgh to just outside of Detroit for mine. Had a ranger and stood them up int he bed, facing each other with padding between and the tops in the cab, it was an extended cab. I would say the best thing to do would bring a person to help. If it weren't for Neal, DIzrotus on here, and his son, I wouldn't have been able to manage. They are very heavy. Good luck.
  11. I have a 54 with the EV and a 56 with the Stephens. Listening right now.
  12. So far the glue in mine have lasted for 63 and 61 years.
  13. How many private messages did you get?
  14. I thought you were talking about the penguin in my avatar.
  15. I was just browsing some literature that came with my Khorns and they had K.L.A stamps on the price sheet and brochure from 54. I'm guessing they finished the speaker up there and sold it as a whole unit.
  16. I have heard them, I actually own a pair. I had cornwalls for a few years and sold them to buy some Khorns. The CP-1's sound like standard cornwalls. In much the same way the industrial LaScalas sound like the standard. I think the guy wants so much because you never see them. I would sell mine for 4000 grand as well. I bought mine off of a neighbor who had a DJ business. I'm not selling mine.
  17. I think the OP was just asking who had the oldest, original or not.
  18. I read online that the lab also did installs. That could explain the raw finish tag, even though it seems like there is a finish on it. The fabric and finish matches the top and bottom as well. It really doesn't matter, they sound incredible and I won't be getting rid of them any time soon.
  19. That is pretty amazing, I picked up them both in Detroit some years ago as complete speakers. I was told that the owner had bought the 54 before stereo was popular and that he picked up the other one to go stereo. Could there be a mistake with 779? Any info on the wood or cloth?
