  1. I guess I'll pass on that one. I appreciate your help. I listened to my first tube amp on my la scala's today and am getting a little anxious. I think I'll wait until another integrated one comes up on this forum.
  2. There is one for sale on audiogone right now and it seems like a good deal. It's an sfs-40 and I was thinking of making the guy an offer.
  3. Does anyone have experience with sonic frontier amps?
  4. Does anyone know about a record called Westminster's Hi-Fi Demonstrations record. It contains: Frequency Tones in all audible ranges from 40-15000 cps Music with range from 30-15000 cps Definition in loud passages without intermodulation Separate band of sound of percussion, string, woodwind and brass groups, piano, harpsichord and guitar Stroboscope for control of turntable speed Any information would be appreciated
  5. I have two piece fiberglass industrial la scalas and my only serial numbers are hf 3198, hf 3199, lf 2902, and lf 2903. The label says copyright 1980 Klipsch so I'm sure they are after that.
  6. Can your system detect the suble differences between say La fin du Mon and an Eau Benite?
  7. Does anyone know if Klipsch offers replacement aluminum trim for the industrial La Scala's
  8. My unit is an Onkyo Intergra it was made in 1992. It's been a great unit. It is 11 years old so I couldn't complain if it went. I played it for a couple of hours at higher levels then usual and it didn't skip a beat. Just to be safe I will start looking at new cd's, any suggestions?
  9. Gil Your suggestion worked like a charm. I put an old foam pillow under the cd and put the whole thing on a different shelf. I couldn't turn the volume past 9:00 without the cd shutting off before that, but after I put it up as far as it needed to go, about 11:00. That was where I could no longer stand the sound. Thanks Tom
  10. I have been having a problem with my receiver shutting down for about half of a second during compact disc play. I have a sherwood receiver(RV-1340r)and a Onkyo six disc changer. It doesn't happen when I'm playing the cassette player. I thought it was the wiring so I went out and bought new connectors and 10 gauge speaker wire. That didn't help. What do you think? The speakers are 82 industrial La Scala two piece.

    H&K

This is the two channel forum so what about a single action army? God created man, Col. Colt made them equal!

I like my P7 also. I am going to purchase a 730 H/K, not H&K. I know it will sound great.

    H&K

Would a 730 sound similiar, or would there be a huge difference?

I have seen 730's and 930's for sale at very reasonable prices. Do they sound good?
  15. Anyone have experience with H&K 730's or 930's? Is one vastly superior or does it just have more power, not necessarily a good thing?
  16. I had a weird experience with ups when I shipped two speakers to my brother in California. The UPS guy came and actually told me that they were packed too well. He claimed that they couldn't move in the box and that was why the cabinet was fractured the whole way across. I had to go through his supervisor to get the claim. I wonder if any of you have heard of something being packed too good.
  17. Being a new Klipsch owner I wondered what was the best stock la scala. Are the older ones better?
  18. I like the backyard idea. Those speakers are efficient. I forgot I'm not dealing with amateurs here. The room is about 20x30 with plaster walls and one doorway and one window.
  19. I finally got my la scala's wired in and running. Man what a difference from the bose 501's. Does anyone have any suggestions about room placement. The speakers are so much clearer than anything I've heard, even through my sherwood ss equipment.
  20. I have been reading all of the posts about tube amps and finding that as a newbie I don't know much at all about tubes. Do you have any ideas where one can go for a crash course on tubes. Thanks
  21. This forum is great. I already learned way more than I ever expected to. I have a fairly large game room(30x20) I listen to a variety of music, almost any type, but I'm partial to folk, bluegrass music. Especially the newgrass artists like tony rice, peter rowan, and david grisman. I have a bunch of classical music that I listen to also along with a fair number of jazz cd's(chet baker and charlie parker in particular). I still need to know where I can get an owners manual I see you can download them, but I didn't notice the model number on the list. You guys really have my upped my interest in tubes. Any recommendations on places to buy, I know ebay, but I've had mixed experiences with them. Any other places to buy or even people on the forum?
  22. I don't know much about tube receivers, anything in particular to look for?
  23. I just purchased my first klipsch product. A pair of la scala speakers. I bought them without an owners manual or any other literature. They are commercial looking, black fiberglass and stainless steel, and they also are two piece units. Any suggestions of an amp for them. I have a sherwood now(RV-1340R). I am new to the higher end audio world and any help would be appreciated. thank you
