  1. Neal, I talked to Bob, he said the caps will eventually leak. Since that's inevitable I've decided to have him replace the caps on the original boards. They would be leak eventually and ruin the. Everything else will be the same.
  2. This is as close to a born on date as you can get:
  3. Here's a close up, still great shape for a 1954.
  4. I thought that I would post a few pictures of the crossovers from my 50's vintage Khorns. I have decided to get the caps updated. They were in great shape, just dusty.
  5. That is a shame. I have bought most of my audio gear from this forum. I haven't met a dishonest person yet.
  6. I couldn't agree more, I was glad to have help with my purchase. I wouldn't have driven to Detroit from Pittsburgh if I wasn't sure of the actual speakers. Neil, and his son, were more than helpful. It's funny that you revised this thread, I just contacted Bob Crites about updating the crossovers three days ago. People still are amazed that I would use speakers that are older than I am, until they hear them. Thanks again Neil. Maybe I should buy those belles to end the drama ;-)
  7. This is a great loss, The old masters are almost all gone, except Doc Watson and a few others. RIP Earl.
  8. I live in Pittsburgh, and I've bought most of my speakers locally. I've even passed on several great deals to let others enjoy the speakers instead of flipping them for cash. I would think there would be even more in the NY/NJ metro areas. I would say just keep checking the forum and Craigslist. Tom
  9. Those are pretty close to the ones I bought, and that Neil referred to earlier in this thread. I have a 54 and 56. The crossovers look identical to one of mine. I haven't done anything to the crossovers and they sound great. I'll get around to it, but I don't see the need right now. I'm sure you will enjoy them, I listen to mine several times weekly. I still get funny looks the first time my friends see the speakers, until they start playing. Enjoy Tom
  10. I played a lot a couple summers ago, great game. The friends I played with moved away so now I play on line sometimes.
  11. I have a 54 and a 56 I use in stereo. They sound great. One has a Stephens woofer and the other an Ev, but you really can't notice any difference, well at least I can't. They sound very good. If you do a search of 54in the garage sale section you will see them. Tom
  12. It's hard to find the cloth with the metallic threads through it, at least it is for me.
  13. I was wondering if there is a way to change a university tweeter from 8 ohms to 16? Thanks Tom
  14. My 56 is sn 1096. It has a EV 15WK woofer. My 54 is sn 779. It has the Stephens 103 LX2 woofer. If you search 56 khorn in garage sale you can see mine. I'm at work and can't put up the link till I get home. Tom
  15. I have the triplet to your pair. Mine could also use some grill cloth, if you locate a source please post it on the forum. I have a 54 and 56 and they sound great.
  16. Thanks for the heads up on the Panasonic. It looks like a great product. I'm not sure why china or Germany was mentioned, but I do hang in Andorra sometimes.
  17. I finally decided my klipsch home theater deserves a better tv. I was looking to get a tv in the 65-75" range. My budget is around 2500. Any suggestions from those in the know? Thanks Tom
  18. I use a MX-117 with my 2100 for my bedroom system, with Hersey's. It sounds really good to me. I'm sure any of the Mac stuff would be a great match
  19. Yes, I'm very happy. I do like the tubey sound. People can't believe how good that setup sounds, especially when I tell them the khorns are from the 50's.
  20. I am curious to hear opinions of the MC-250's compared to the MC-275's. I have bridged 250's with a peach and am very happy with the set up Thanks Tom
