  1. Nice stuff there u have, Orange Peel. I tried to put my front speakers near the walls, and they just don't sound as well as 2 feets away from either side / back wall. How do your speakers sound ? Since they are awfully close to both walls. I just can't imagine how big the room will be if one needs a 60 inch screen, another 15 for equipments, another 60 inches space for both speakers. Man, u will need aprox 12 feet wide room.
  2. Hi, Wolf, welcome to the forum. Unfortunately, $2000 doesn't get u very far. I've been looking at some DVD player myself too. I am getting myself a JVC XV-N50BK which plays any kind of DVD (incl DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW), MP3, JPEG files. It has a optical output and progressive scan as well. Good deal at Amazon.com for $78 (after $20 rebate). Speakerswise, look into RF or RB 35, and RC35. You should be able to get them for around $1000. So, you still have $900 left for wiring and receiver. People have been recommending Denon Receievers, so you might want to check them out. In the future, you can spend another $500 for the surround speakers, and $400 for the sub. Just my $0.02. Good luck.
  3. Congrat on your purchase Pistol Pete. How do u like your setup ? Is the Sub doing well ?
  4. I have to agree T3 sucks in plots, no new FX after all these yrs after T2. Same plot & tricks as T1 and T2. That's my major complaint. M3, I love Matrix, but Revolution really kills the trilogy. Quite a few things are not explained, For example, how can Leo see the orange image in real life with his eyes wrecked ? To my surprise, I have always put off watching LOTR. I finally watched LOTR 1 and 2 together for the FIRST TIME last weekend. OMG, it was a GREAT movie. Yes, a little slow, but the story rocks. FX and sound are great too. I guess I will watch Return of the King in theater, can't wait for the DVD.
  5. Hmmm.... interesting. Maybe, I will go borrow a different receiver and try it out with the Klipsch. Maybe, it's the receiver..... That darn Sony ES ! LOL
  6. banjoman, I just bought my STR-DA7ES which is almost the same model as 4ES (except a 2 way remote which I love, and 10 watts more per speaker). Anyway, I think 4ES will be great "if" you can find it. They are replaced by new ES lines. I had really tough time finding my 7ES, and ultimately got it from Tweeter for open box. Most ppl complain that the trap door with the optical inputs are whimpy, and the speakers connectors are a little cramped. But, all in all, I think it's a great buy and an awsome machine ! I pair my 7ES with Klipsch RF-35 systems. I can't say about the 25, you will have to audition yourself. I listened to the 15, they were ok till I listened to the 25. Then, the 25 were great till I heard the 35, LOL. Then, I told the rep "that's it!", I didn't wanna audition the RF5 or RF7 (which they don't even stock at GoodGuys) since they are way out of my budget. Good luck !
  7. Yes, I have a TV in the middle for the HT. Well, I bought the Klipsch for the main reason for HT (5.1). Then, I just pop some classicals music in and they are just not as "excellent" as I thought they would be. The mains are about 8 feet apart. I ain't any classicals audiophiles, in fact I listen to HT or pop most of the time. But, just a small flaw I personally feel from these great speakers.
  8. To start off, I am a new proud member of Klipsch ! I think my RF-35 systems are great for movie (HT) and pop/rock music. But, they are just not "that" great with Classical music. The bass and midrange are awsome. With classicals, the sound just doesn't sound as clean or detail as some others. I personally think the horns just sound a little too bright for classicals. Do you guys have similar feeling as mine ? My room is about 18x10, powered by Sony STR-DA7ES. I heard some people say that Sony receiver is not a good match with Klipsch (makes the sound too bright), but I don't notice it in any other music except classicals. The fronts are about 2 feet away from the back and side walls, facing about 20 degrees inward. Wood floor with are rug. Moving the speakers forward (away from back wall) does help a little, but still under expectation of what Klipsch can do. Anyway, don't get me wrong, I am totally happy with RF35 for under $2000 (5.1), but just a little disappointed when I try to listen to some classicals.
  9. LOL I almost took the Bose's comment seriously.
  10. I am a newbie to all these stuff, but I guess it really depends on the music you are listening to. I set all my RF-35 components (RF35,RC35,RS-35) to large. With classical music, I like to just use 2 Channel setting with my Sony STR-DA7Es. The sound is much cleaner to me. When the bass is handled by the subwoofer, I find the music very boomy and un-natural. However, with movie or rap/rock music, I like to use auto-decoding and route all the bass to the subwoofer, giving a much better effect (esp with all the shaking the RW-10 can do ) I find listening to classical music especially best with large and 2 channel speakers setting, the small setting makes Klipsch sound like Bose )
  11. I haven't seen it yet. But the MSRP on the flagship ES receiver is like $4500 !! I just think it's obsurd. So, I hurried up and went to Tweeter to buy a floor model on the old ES flagship STR-DA7ES. I love it, esp the remote is so cool. Good price too for $780.
  12. I think most of us would agree the standards are: Matrix Gladiator T2 (although I don't own it) But I have recently borrowed True Lies (THX) and the surround effects sounds awsome !
  13. taylor baby, think some of us are just jealous of your RF-5 RF-5 definitely will be better than RF-3, but the question is "can you sacrifice 5.1 for a better 2 channel music entertainment? and can you wait till you save enough for the other expensive speakers matching your RF-5 ?" In the long run, I think most of us would agree to keep the RF-5. But, if you really want the 5.1 HT, then I think RF-35 is not bad. I do have to agree that 5.1 is MUCH better than 2 channel when watching those action movies, but for plain music, I still stick to 2 channels.
  14. Nodi, welcome to the board, I am a newbie to this board too, hehe I just got my RF-35 set a few days ago, and haven't posted a review / comment yet since I haven't fully auditioned them yet. But, I can tell you that you won't regret buying them. I auditioned before buying them @ GoodGuys and loved them. I looked up the lowest price on the net and took the print out to Goodguys, and they match the price pretty close to online price, maybe 15% above it.
