  1. Sorry, no input from me on the PSB.
  2. I'd go with a 12" or 15". You can probably get a KSW-12 or a Velodyne CT-120 for under $500. Not sure if you can fit a KSW-15 under $500. Anyone else?
  3. What is your budget? What is the balance between music and HT use? How big is the room? Doug
  4. Ditto on the toeing in, from my experience. You might also want to "toe down" or "toe up" (hmmm - what body part would correspond with this...) your center channel so that it is pointing at the listening area as well. I have my front speakers arranged in a shallow arc with the focal point being my seat in the HT (Selfish, I know, but I'm the only one that really pays attention, anyway.)
  5. Good comments, Erik. To clarify, your TV or VCR audio outputs (whichever you are using to feed the audio to your receiver) must be stereo for it to decode the Dolby Pro from the signal.
  6. The way I do it is by running the signal through the TV tuner in my stereo hi-fi VCR, and sending the audio from the VCR to my a/v receiver's Dolby Pro Logic decoder. That gives me surround sound. Doug
  7. Mike - Be sure your warranty will be honored if you buy from speedandsound. Not sure what the status is of products from them. At one time, www.unclestereo.com had a link to them on their website. I wondered at the time if speedandsound was an outlet for Uncle's...
  8. You're probably going to see a barage of responses crying "Pronto!" by Philips. I recently acquired one, and it is terrific. You have virtually complete programming capability (via the pc-based ProntoEdit program), with the ability to create long macros if you want, put channel logos and other bitmaps on the touchscreen, and customize every button (and create any kind of button you want via the touchscreen). Plus, the whole thing is backlight. I love it!
  9. How about Uncles Stereo? They don't sell on-line, but their web site is http://www.unclestereo.com/ Let us know! Doug
  10. After a quick look at their web site and the back panel of the amp, I wonder if they are suggesting you create the rear center channel by passing the line-level rear output through an external Dolby ProLogic processor/amp, then on to the speakers, creating a "matrixed" center rear channel? I dunno...
  11. Jason577 - I'd get the name of his distributor and check it out on the Klipsch dealer locator to validate if they are authorized. I'd also guess that unless your receipt comes from an authorized dealer, you may have trouble getting any warranty work done for free! But I'm just speculating here...You might want to check the situation out with Klipsch directly at 1-800-KLIPSCH.
  12. dlungurait - sounds like you're carrying around too much emotional baggage. first, the confession of having a pair of bloses. now, the mcs eq in the closet. what else?!? come clean, son, you will be forgiven. (and you thought no one was keeping track )
  13. Hevyg - Modular Component Systems, a private label sold by Jacques Pennier (or JC Penney in less snobby parts of the country than Scottsdale, AZ)! You can send the Grand Prize check to me here. I was wondering if anyone was going to mention them. I admit to owning an MCS system as my first "real" stereo. I worked at Penney's in college, so I got an employee discount on it back in 1978. The speakers were quite large, about the size of my KG4s, and of course I thought they sounded great (being my first ones, and all). Gave them to a girlfriend in the mid-80's. Probably still using them! My daughter is still using the turntable (it was a separate piece -- "Modular", remember?) for some LPs she found -- I won't give her my old B&O turntable which is packed away in a box. I think the receiver finally met its demise a couple years ago when my Mom and Dad moved. They've been the (un)fortunate dumping ground for all my old equipment. He still has my Pioneer receiver from college, too. (Before you write to the Society to Prevent Cruelty to Parents, bear in mind that I'll be giving him a new Denon A/V receiver and some Quintets for Christmas this year...). Ahhh, the memories.
