  1. Those old cans (pre 70’s) are paper in oil. What I’ve never known for sure is whether or not they’re hermetically sealed - I just know I’ve never seen a leaky one. I’d be inclined to leave them alone.
  2. I run “power hungry” ATC monitors with a 60 watt Cambridge integrated. I probably have 30 watts more than I need. To be fair, the room is small and I do sit close. Not as dynamic as horns, but they can surprise you.
  3. Jeff probably never goes into the Technical section so wouldn’t know about the sticky’s. For the uninitiated, Crites can’t build a “factory spec” crossover because he doesn’t have the right autoformers. You can do a lot of other things with the larger units, but “factory spec” isn’t one of them.
  4. Maybe try here instead. https://www.diymobileaudio.com/forums/

Yeah, I’m tired/burned out and have arthritis in my hands, back and neck. I take on work when I feel up to it. Most just want a recap, and Jim is handling those. He reaches out to me when he needs me. If someone wants something else built, I’m doing that on a very limited basis also.

I was just responding to your disclaimer since it sounded like you’re not sure what the rules are. I just can’t figure out why people still don’t know what they can, and cannot post about, considering how much it’s been discussed. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Don’t promote third party vendor work or products on the forum. Don’t promote DIY, your own or others - which lends itself to unsubstantiated claims. Even those with test results, which are not Klipsch test results - and often come with layperson interpretations and conclusions. Klipsch is in the business of producing and promoting the sound THEY like. It’s all in the pinned posts that nobody reads. No shortage of other message boards, DIY forums - which is where I go when I want to talk about the extra wheel I added to the wagon.
  8. If it sounds good on most things, and sometimes not on others - it’s not the speakers it’s the recordings.
  9. If the network uses the small blue oval epoxy coated types - I would replace them. Call JEM for an OEM capacitor kit. I install the kits for Klipsch. I charge $100 to do the pair.
  10. He doesn’t need new crossovers, he just needs to update a couple of parts. He needs to replace his current autoformer with a T4A, and substitute the 4mH in parallel with the midrange driver to a 5mH. The caps on those are fine, I have yet to find a bad one, and I’ve measured plenty. I stock both parts if interested.
  11. That is a weird one. Maybe the answer is you simply use what you have available to you?
  12. @gigantic Maybe show a little bit of respect for the space, you are after all standing on the shoulders of the real giants.
