  2. Anyone have one from an old set that they are willing to part with? I think my pod is no longer operative. If is not powering but it seems as if the board and fuse in the subwoofer cabinet are all intact
  3. Well I have been using this digital decoder since I purchased one back in 2002. My 5.1 ProMedia amp finally blew so I am looking to see if people are still looking for these before I unleash it on Ebay. All in working order and comes in the original factory box with all accessories.
  4. First off. Whats the difference between the 2? I know the model difference, assuming that Reference will be higher end vs the Image. Why would the Image be more expensive? What is compatible with the iPhone 4S on Verizon? Thanks, Eric
  5. I purchased mine back in 2001, right before I graduated high school. I tried to blow the sub on them a couple times by blasting woofercooker. (At this time they just released the 5.1 ultras and were swapping out repairs for Ultras, but it didn't break on me) Only had to use the customer service when my power supply went bad on my 5.1 Digital Decoder. They fixed it and I still use both today.
  6. I think thats the case because Pioneer dropped of the Plasma market. They however, still PURCHASE them from the same manufacturers of Panasonic plasmas. They just essentially rebrand the Panny models. Within the last few years anti-image retention (pixel orbiting technology) has greatly reduced the amount of potential for burn in. Notice how I said potential as these sets still have the ability to burn in. I have had my set for over a year and don't worry about anything. As for people not liking the 60,000 hours of viewing for plasma displays, this is merely the half-life of the plasma itself. So after these 60k hours they burn at half brightness. Recent models have better contrast ratio's and an extended halflife. Just my 2 cents. -EK
  7. stolen from stpetecooling: " The part number is 14D181K, where the 14 refers to the physical size, and the 181 refers to the voltage. You can find an alldata sheet on it. As I recall it is 115 volts, and 50 joules, peak of 4500 amps (I'm not positive about the final numbers). It is a basic, conservatively rated protector for North American electronics. "
  8. What is the problem with placing it on a load bearing shelf on the wall?
  9. Not that many people are willing to spend tons of money for computer speakers. I think this is a main reason on why Klipsch decided to opt out of the computer speaker market. To make quality speakers, lots of time and money have to be invested into them. Since the market is flooded with cheaper 5.1 and 7.1 systems I bet the people at Klipsch realized in order to keep up with their reputation of producing quality sound they would have to charge a considerable amount of money to place quality drivers into their systems. So, as demand for these somewhat pricey speakers went down due to a surplus of other suppliers making decent more affordable speakers, they decided to discontinue these speaker lines. (I wish they didn't, but it was probably in the best interest of the company.)
  10. I've had my set since may 2002, been working fine for me turning it on for several hours at a time then off when not in use. -Eric
  11. You do need the remote in order to control the decoder. I do not know where to purchase a controller separately from the unit, but you could always purchase a Harmony remote made by Logitech. I use with Harmony 880 with mine and it works perfectly fine. -Eric
