  2. Anyone have one from an old set that they are willing to part with? I think my pod is no longer operative. If is not powering but it seems as if the board and fuse in the subwoofer cabinet are all intact
  3. Well I have been using this digital decoder since I purchased one back in 2002. My 5.1 ProMedia amp finally blew so I am looking to see if people are still looking for these before I unleash it on Ebay. All in working order and comes in the original factory box with all accessories.
  4. First off. Whats the difference between the 2? I know the model difference, assuming that Reference will be higher end vs the Image. Why would the Image be more expensive? What is compatible with the iPhone 4S on Verizon? Thanks, Eric
  5. I purchased mine back in 2001, right before I graduated high school. I tried to blow the sub on them a couple times by blasting woofercooker. (At this time they just released the 5.1 ultras and were swapping out repairs for Ultras, but it didn't break on me) Only had to use the customer service when my power supply went bad on my 5.1 Digital Decoder. They fixed it and I still use both today.
  6. I think thats the case because Pioneer dropped of the Plasma market. They however, still PURCHASE them from the same manufacturers of Panasonic plasmas. They just essentially rebrand the Panny models. Within the last few years anti-image retention (pixel orbiting technology) has greatly reduced the amount of potential for burn in. Notice how I said potential as these sets still have the ability to burn in. I have had my set for over a year and don't worry about anything. As for people not liking the 60,000 hours of viewing for plasma displays, this is merely the half-life of the plasma itself. So after these 60k hours they burn at half brightness. Recent models have better contrast ratio's and an extended halflife. Just my 2 cents. -EK
  7. stolen from stpetecooling: " The part number is 14D181K, where the 14 refers to the physical size, and the 181 refers to the voltage. You can find an alldata sheet on it. As I recall it is 115 volts, and 50 joules, peak of 4500 amps (I'm not positive about the final numbers). It is a basic, conservatively rated protector for North American electronics. "
  8. What is the problem with placing it on a load bearing shelf on the wall?
  9. Not that many people are willing to spend tons of money for computer speakers. I think this is a main reason on why Klipsch decided to opt out of the computer speaker market. To make quality speakers, lots of time and money have to be invested into them. Since the market is flooded with cheaper 5.1 and 7.1 systems I bet the people at Klipsch realized in order to keep up with their reputation of producing quality sound they would have to charge a considerable amount of money to place quality drivers into their systems. So, as demand for these somewhat pricey speakers went down due to a surplus of other suppliers making decent more affordable speakers, they decided to discontinue these speaker lines. (I wish they didn't, but it was probably in the best interest of the company.)
  10. I've had my set since may 2002, been working fine for me turning it on for several hours at a time then off when not in use. -Eric
  11. You do need the remote in order to control the decoder. I do not know where to purchase a controller separately from the unit, but you could always purchase a Harmony remote made by Logitech. I use with Harmony 880 with mine and it works perfectly fine. -Eric
  12. The Creative Home Theater DTS-610 is just a way of transforming the analog signal from your computer or other analog devices into digital signal. I.E. going from the standard FL/FR, RL/RR, Center/Sub connections to optical or coaxial audio. This is not what you want as it will not go the other way around. You want something that would transform that digital coaxial or digital optical signal to analog signal. Therefore you want the Creative Decoder DDTS-100. -Eric
  13. Good luck finding the DD 5.1 Last time I saw one, it went for more than 300$ on Ebay. Another choice is the Creative DTS1000.
  14. Few movies: From the Hulk, the scene where the helocopter chases his through the canyon House of Flying Daggers, the scene where she hits all those drums around her. A few scenes from the Master and Commander are great. The launch sequence from Apollo 13 A ton of scenes from Saving Private Ryan There are a ton of great scenes out, I am about to compile a decent sized list of them then burn me a dvd. -Eric
  15. My buddy has a 42" plasma 1080p and it gets dwarfed by my 768p 50" panny. Love the picture, HD is amazing
  16. I think the debate is still on going. Sure WB did get signed to Blu-Ray exclusively, but that is just a contract. I do not think that the contract is exceptionally that long anyways. I also heard that Disney's contract with Sony is running out and that HD-DVD is going to pursue that. I have a feeling that this is long from over. My 2 cents.
  17. I have a 50" Panasonic Plasma TH-50PX600U and I am extremely happy with it.
  18. See, the thing is I cannot do anything permanent. Ideally, I would love to get a large amplified antenna for the OTA signals, but I am renting since I am still in college (until May that is.) I was thinking that a smaller, amplified indoor antenna would do me justice, because with my setup I have currently with the AM/FM antenna I get all of my locals, including FOX. Although my FOX goes in and out of signal. Well, yesterday I ended up going into the crawl space under my townhome, and I ran some RG6 cable from my TV to the side of my house. I put the cable under my siding and up the crack in the corner molding. I was able to place my same antenna above my kitchen window where it is at least partially hidden from the elements. It works wonderfully now, getting clear, uninterrupted signal on FOX, plus I pick up another weather channel. The true test will be when it snows, until then I am keeping this. GO TRIBE!!! -Eric
  19. Can you post a link to your antenna? Thanks
  20. I didn't know where to put this, but anways... I have a Panasonic 50" Plasma with the Dish Network system. Currently, they cannot provide me with my locals HD. I have jerryrigged some old FM antenna (those T looking things) up on my wall. I have looked on www.antennaweb.org and found just the right place on where to direction my antenna. I am only having a problem getting my FOX local to come in clear. Last night, for the Indians game, I used an extension coaxial cable about 50 feet to bring my T antenna towards the front of my townhouse to get uninterrupted signal. I was wondering if anyone has an indoor/outdoor HDTV antenna for OTA signals, and if they like it and how it works for them. I've been looking at a few different antennas such as the Terk HDTVa, and the Terk TV5 for indoor use and have been seeing mixed reviews for the both. Anyways, I thought I would just post on here and gather some input from the 'pros.' Thanks ahead, -Eric
  21. I love my Sennheiser HD 555's. They are extremely comfortable, and very lightweight considering the size of them. Only drawbacks are the 3.5mm adaptor on the end and that since it is an open air design, sounds can be heard from others nearby. Other than those, I love the feel and SQ produced by them.
