Hi I dont have anything too power demanding. At most it would be a 52 dlp tv, denon 2803 and dvd player. Most likely my back ups is 700va. Could it harm the system if the backups was under rateed for the draw, or just do no good. Thanks again

I have a apc smart ups that is is used for a computer. If i plug my my power bar into that is there a downside? I only have 150 service in the house, I was wondering if that would help when my electric dipss down. For example like my ac kicks on or any other power hungry device is turned on. Thanks

I think it is one of those van scam items. The rear of the unit has few inputs. And for putting out the 400watts per channel, it only weighs 22pounds

I bought the denon avr-2803 in the silver finish two years ago. I wish I gotten the black one. Do you think there is a way to buy the skin of one from denon and switch it? In any case I feel it is too early to jump on the 1080p bandwagon. First till a clear format is closen. Second 1080p are very expensive vs 1080i. And lastly for tv viewing there is still very little hd(1080i) progamming. Imagine how long it will be until 1080p programming is available. Yes I am sure there is a small improvement in picture quality, if you pic the right source material. But the improvement is like the difference between hd and standard digital cable. But for now there is not nearly enough material available for 1080p. I would rather wait until the technology improves and a clear format is chosen for the hd dvd's

I wouldnt say 1080i is inferior. I have seen 1080p and it wasnt that much better than 1080i. 95 percent of the people who will buy playstation 3 will never hook it up for 1080p or even able to. Most will hook it with a signle rca cable. I bet you couldnt even tell the difference in quality for a game between 1080i and 1080p I plan one making no jump to the hd dvds till the format wars is done. Reminds me of vhs vs betamax. my upscaling denon looks great to me in 1080i. Besides xbox is the way to go.

Man I spent 3G's(with the stand) on on my Toshiba 52 in dlp in December. I shopped around it was about 2 hundred dollars cheaper than anyway else Never can win!

I have had the 1920 for about 9 months. It does a real nice job of upscaling to 1080i. I am using a hdmi connection to my Toshiba 52 dlp. I have been having a hard time finding any sacd, I is like looking for a needle in a haystack at most stores. I bought one and it turned out it was only a 2 channel super audio. In short I am happy with it!

I used to use zip ties, but like the prevoius post suggests. When it comes time to move a wire or two you have to cut them off. I have found at the rat shack a black plastic tubing that as a slit in the middle from one end to the other in comes in all sizes from quarter inch round to two inches round. You can put about 6 sets of speaker wire in one of the larger split tubings and it looks very clean. I would post a pic if anyone is interested Regards

Why would I connect a laser printer to it? I was going to use the ups souly for the ht. I was going to use the smaller of the smart ups. Single battery type. The larger one I have is dead and requires two new battereis. But maybe I will think about using the larger one Thanks

I have a apc smart ups lying around. Everyone says you should use them with audio-video equip due to the type of sine waves they put out. To me I dont see the difference but I am not qualified to really to say one way or the other. If I have the smart ups into the electical outlet and conect my monster powerbar 1100 to the smart ups is that better than just using the powerbar?

afdm was it. i had it off. I guess I will leave matrix on and if gets a siganl for the discrete signal for the rear center it shuts off the matrix mode! Thanks

I never saw that afdm setting in the settings I will look again. Maybe this model avr does not automatically switch. On my reciever there is a signal detect led. I think if that lights up(which means it is getting a discete signal for the rear center). Then the it sound be non-matrix. if it does not light up it should be matrixed thanks for the help from all!

So if it is a true 6.1 discrete signal like gladitor it should be off. But if it is labeled as dts-es. or dd-ex matrix should be on. I am correct here. Thanks for the help

NO actually the reciever is about 2 yrs old. The dvd player not even 1 yr

I found it surpising the the dvd player a Denon 1903, which is a good player($500) does"nt read the signal as 6.1. The reciever does so I guess in the end it doesnt matter. I never got a answer on which surrond back should be selected matrix on or off Thanks

Here is a story . I sold a computer on ebay a fairly new imac at the time. i got about 1200 bucks for it used paypal. Shipped it with insurance in its original packing. The package disappears in route completly vanished, the tracking ended in N.C somewhere. The buyer complained and the money was yanked from my account. Paypal asked for the tracking number and few days lateer the money was given back to me.The buyer got his money too from his credit card insurance policy or something. and I collected the insurance through the shipping company. So I got paid twice! Another time I sent a monitor, which weighed about 75 ounds. Insured it for 500. It was damaged. After a long battle they sent it wasnt packed properly, it was obvouisly dropped during shipping. They never made good on it

I popped in Castway last night since it is a 6.1 soundtrack to see much i could hear from the rc speaker(since I always hear very little from if is a matrixed signal). Anyway my receiver Denon 2803 has a a surrond back button, which lets you choose the following choices (for the rcenter) as from the manual Off..Playback is conducted without using the surround back speaker Non Mtrx...Playback is conducted using the surround back speaker. The same signals those of the surround channels are output from the surround back channels Mtrx on..Playback is conducted using the surround back speaker. Surround back channel is reproduced using digital matrix processing. Dont both of the 2 matrix options say the same thing in different wording? Anyway I figured non matrx is the correct one..is this always the right choice for all formats 5.1 6.1 or whatever. The reciever detected a true signal for that speaker for either choice And lastly my denon 1920 while playing castaway, only showed it was playing a 3/2/.1 While my reciever showed it as 3/3/.1 I thought that was strange any ideas Thanks

I have used the sound meter. And alreadly adjusted the output to each speaker. Although The rear center never seems loud enough though. Like I mentioned it usually is only dd ex playing just a matrixed signal I think that has something to do with it. I will pop in gladitor and see how that sounds from the rc since that is 6.1. As far as the avia disc, it seems outdated when reading the description for it since it only supports 5.1 for tone noise adjustments. As where the dve disc is 6.1. I thought the dve disc was newer. Thanks

I run mine at 6.1. I dont hear a whole lot out of the rear center speaker. At least when it matrixed. A true 6.1 soundtrack sounds much better.

How accurate is the color calibration disc with a dlp display. The reason I ask is becasue the discs says somewher that it is based on a crt display. Also On a different note, my ears tell me that tone defeat function sounds better off. For tv viewing it soounds better with the control of treble and bass, I know that people say that by never the tone defeat on. you hear the dialogue or sound track as it was intended to be heard. Or does this only apply to dvds Thanks
