  1. I'm 38 and my youngest is 3. We have three girls and I'm ready to start on the next three.....but I need at least one son as I'm the last of the Mohicans.
  2. That's a great pic, flannj. Reminds me of watching our daughter's soccer games last fall....brrr!
  3. I thought he forgot the remainder of the line as well. (Chief Justice Roberts restated the line exactly as before). This was a pretty small mistake and one quite understandable given the situation. I agree with JB, he's our President now. Let's give him our support and wait to be critical over things that actually matter.
  4. I own this one or one very similar to it. No doors but a great little unit. I have been very pleased with it. http://www.bestbuy.com/site/olspage.jsp?skuId=8287221&st=dvd+rack&lp=7&type=product&cp=1&id=1171672959920
  5. Looks like home, Glenn! Now THIS is the sort of weather that I remember as a youngster. I dunno about you, but I love seeing the snow everywhere (instead of the depressing brown, dirty look).

    for Fini

A blind man is led into the local watering hole by his seeing-eye-dog. He ambles up to the bar, leans on the counter and orders a drink. As the bartender is pouring his drink he notices the man swinging the dog around above his head. He sits the drink down and asks the blind man, "What on earth are you doing?" The blind man says, "Just lookin' around."
  7. So not only can she bring home the beer but also provide you a shelf to rest it on? []
  8. Bonus points for corrective lenses. Double points for corrective sunglasses. [] [6] How many other variations can we come up with?
  9. Big fan here too. The UFC has some of the best athletes on the planet, IMHO although I dunno about watching it in person. Cagefighting seems like a sport that lends itself to a televised audience although I wouldn't mind checking it out sometime. Now if you guys plan on setting up an octagon at the next pilgrimmage, I'll definitely be there. I would love to see a tube vs SS bout!
  10. Wow, thank God (really) you made it through. That could have been a really, really ugly ending. Prayers and well-wishes on a speedy recovery, Steve.
  11. LOL, sorry. I meant for you to get something to hold all of your toys!
  12. Joe- Saw your post regarding the house and can't help but think you need to look at small house/big garage types. [] That Atom looks like a go-kart on steroids.
  13. Three girls: Victoria (7), Emma (4) and Sophia (3).

    B&K AVR-307

jerky244, Fist of all, welcome to the forum. I had a 307 for a brief time and used it to power my RF-7 system. B&K receivers tend to be very well built pieces of gear. The 307 is no exception to that. I believe the 307 is 125 wpc but cannot recall exactly. I thought it was a great piece of gear when I had it in my system. It produced a level of bass in my system that was more similar to separates than a receiver, IMHO. I'm not sure what you would be powering with it but I believe that the 307 is a very capable receiver. As to your question about playing two zones simultaneously...I'm not sure. However, here is a link to the manual on the B&K website. I took a quick look and did not find the answer readily apparent. http://www.bkcomp.com/fileadmin/content/content_products/manuals/Past/Preamp%20or%20receiver/AVR%20307.pdf Best of luck!
  15. Hi Indy, Yes, it is the DHC-9.9. The difference would probably be more like $5,000 (taking 20% off both units) but that is still a substantial savings for the 9.9. Since the Statement wasn't in my budget anyway it really was not even on my radar, although I know it is one of the best, if not the best, processors out there right now. My dealer carries both the Integra and the Anthem units. Both have room correction but the nod would have to go to the Anthem in that regard as the setup equipment (microphone) is a much better piece of gear than the one that comes with the Integra. However, that being said, I understand that Integra has more of a pro-microphone (for lack of better terminology) that may be used in the setup process. I will have to ask my dealer about this. This may even things out a bit more? My previous processor was the B&K Reference 31 (Ref 31 = an updated Reference 30 to the processor of the Reference 50) and the Integra is a definite improvement. When I have played standard DVDs I have noticed that the sound is clearer/cleaner and a bit less forward sounding (and more natural) than that of the B&K. The Integra is definitely a step up from the B&K, but the B&K is no slouch. I was very happy with that unit and made my move primarily to take advantage of the improved sound via BD technology and the room correction feature. When I first heard a BD through the Integra I knew that I had made the right move. Since my PS3 was sending the audio signal through an optical cable it's tough to say whether the difference I am hearing is due to the processor or the BD. Perhaps it's a bit of both? In any event the sound is better and that is what I was looking forward to. You and I also run essentially the same projector, Indy. I believe that you have the Infocus SP7210 (?) and I have the 7205, which are basically the same model. I am just starting to play around with the video settings in the Integra but I my initial impression was that the image was a bit better when we were watching a movie over the weekend. Overall I am very impressed with the Integra. On standard DVDs it has not been a HUGE step above the B&K but it is better. As I stated earlier, BDs are a different story altogether. The difference is dramatic. Oh! room correction... Still playing around with it a bit. Two examples: 1) Iron Man BD- the sound was vastly improved with room correction on 2) Standard concert dvd last night-the sound was better and more natural sounding with room correction off. This leads me to believe that I need to redo the Audessey setup. More on this later.
  16. I have the new 9.9 sitting in my rack right now. They are available and in stock.
  17. I'm not sure how pricing on discontinued models correlates to a product that is new to the market. 30% off retail is a great deal for something like that.
  18. $1400 would be 30% off retail; definitely a great deal!
  19. Wow, artto, sounds like a fantastic buy! What is the model number of the unit you purchased?
  20. I can get a 9.8 NIB and an open-box unit for greatly reduced prices. Send me a PM if you are interested.
  21. I believe they were looking at the DTR 9.9 which does have an MSRP of $2600 rather than the DHC 9.9. I'm ordering mine today.
  22. bigfalcon- Thanks for the reply. The model that I am looking at is the Elite Pro-FHD1, same as yours. The new model number is Pro-111HD. Price on the FHD1 is the $2500 I quoted above (open-box) the new model is $4000.
  23. bigcityfalcon-have you compared your kuro to the newest model? I'm curious as I have an opportunity to purchase last year's model in the 50" size for $2500 (monitor only, no speakers nor tuner). This is an open-box sort of thing but I'm not one who typically worries about that too much.
  24. Ok, so I'm a little confused. I contacted Integra today regarding the new DHC 9.9 (pictured in this thread) and was told that MSRP is $2,000 and they were unsure as to first date of availability. I later contacted my dealer who stated that MSRP is $2600 and they are in stock. Does anyone have any information that may clarify this for me? I'm also trying to determine the difference(s) between the two units. I compared the features of both side by side on the integra website but am not seeing much of a difference. I have the Integra first on my list of gear to be updated and am very close to pulling the trigger on the 9.8. However, if the 9.9 is a substantial upgrade I may elect to go that route.
  25. I agree with tkd although the HIIIs do not sound as bright as the HIIs IMHO.
