  1. sorry...i just read carefully you want to "downsize" Trust me...one big amp, and one preamp...is no difference then a BIIG reciever! Just think the preamp is an extra VCR, or LD player.
  2. My cousin has his hooked up to a pair of NHT VT2.4... very strong mid, crystal clear highs, and the low end is amazing..and when i mean amazing..i mean like WHOOOAAAA I wont rated as on the warm side as it is pretty revealing...but not as revealing as my Parasound, which makes bad recordings sound harsh and nearly distorted. However the sherbourn is very accurate, and if your preamp stage is warm, it will articulate a warm sound, and vice versa for brightness. Also, the sherbourns first 20 watt of so is pure class A power...making the highs...from what i heard..almost tube like. When i heard it...it sounds nothing like a tube amp...but it is VERY VERY SMOOTH. Try it out...either way you wont regret it. Once you go seperate you will never be satified with recievers...even the expensive ones...like the ones that cost 5K+. With that money..NAD silver series amp, and sunfire preamp.
  3. with that money, i would spend 2K on a sherbourn power amp and an extra 600 on an outlaw preamp. That combom itself would kill ANY reciever..even the 5805, RXv9, and the 59Tx...might as well add true CONSISTANT power to your speakers and 4-8ohms.
  4. hey, i sold my first DD5.1 and Ultra 5.1 already. However, i am now selling my 2nd DD5.1 that i used as a 2chnl preamp with the parasound/HTD combo. Very warm sounding preamp and shows even the more subtle details in the track. Have the box, manual, and all the nessesary cables that was included. No scratches at all. I cant believe how good this thing sounds at first. The ultra 5.1 really cant show how the thing sounds. Very warm and not harsh at all. The DAC in the thing is magnifcant. I would literally rate its preamp stage in the same class level as a Pioneer 1014tx/52tx reciever. Its 2chnl is magnificiant! I have really picky ears so that is saying ALOT. Of course it cant rival outlaw preamps...but for the price...its nearly PERFECT! 150 shipped....i WOULD NOT GO ANY LOWER!!! i am not desparate to sell the item at all, but it is just being left unused as it has been replaced but a 10yr old Shure analog preamp..a sterephile class A component in 1989. Do not PM me through the klipsch forum. Instead email me at Kinnithy@yahoo.com Thank you!
  5. kenratboy I used to have the 1014...great reciver for the price..but sold it and got a used parasound amp and used my second DD5.1 decoder as a preamp....cost me a lil over 400...and the sound quality BEATS THE 1014...and absolutely rides over the 3805. Check for audiogon.com for deals. People over there are very trustworthy.
  6. My reciever is basically a 52tx minus some outputs and multiroom features. Heres a few links that could explain more then i could ever do. http://www.hometheaterforum.com/htforum/showthread.php?s=&threadid=197358 also, heres a review for the 52tx, if you read throughout the above link, you will learn that its basically the same thing. http://hometheatermag.com/receivers/1204pioneer/ I live in HoCo too, near Snowden River Parkway (target, Compusa, Dicks, and ToysRus/Staples). if you have any questions, feel free to call me at 4437566341. There is basically no recievers below the 5-800 barrier that cuold beat the 1014/52tx in terms for decoding features and raw power. I might also want to add that my volume dial has a very slight scratch on it from moving in and out of the shelfs. Stupid fingers..other then that, its perfect!
  7. 270 give or take from anyone in Maryland willing to meet in Howard County or any other county close by. VA buyers can also buy it if willing to meet at Montgomery County in MD, or Tyson Corners in VA. I only have the manual, the mic, the amp of course, and the remote...and i think it comes with an antenna (wondering about this right now as i did not ship it an antenna last time). Oh yeah, if you have an integrated amp or any amplifier you would like to trade....that would be fine too. NAD prefered. TRADE IS PREFERRED THOUGH!!! but it has to be something decent, lol. Please do not PM me as i rarely check forum's private mail. Email me at Kinnithy@yahoo.com Thank you!

  9. the 1014K is TOTALLY different from the 914 and lower series
  10. I have the 10" version of your sub, and i was so surprise at how musical it sounded for $249. Its movie perfomance was decent, but for the price, its way above average.
  11. i got the DLS-3750 for $250 very musical and the bass is just enough for my small room....however i do not find any information on it other then velo's website from what i heard, its line above the CHT series.
  12. if its not the 4803, then its probably the 4802 or 4801, i always confuse the denon line numbers i heard it before, and that thing is really really powerful for a sub 1K receiver.
  13. the 3805 is pretty expensive, might as well find a refurb 4803 for like 1.2K if your alrady up at that range. The 4803 will crush the 3805.
  14. it relates due to the fact that you are paying ALOT less for somethign that is quite superior to receivers ranging below $1K and could easily beat the 2800 in sound quality. I have not heard the latest 3800 and 2800 models, but have heard the past ones before the current line. Was not very impressing for the price they were asking for. how much are you getting the 2800 for? also, if i were you, i dish the extra for the 3800 due to a much better preamp section. the 3805 uses burrbrowm DAC.
  15. i upgraded my entire Klipsch Ultra system as well.......i went for the Pioneer vsx-1014tx it is basically a Elite vsx-52tx but in different clothing and less features such as RS32 port and some input and outputs. As long as the sound components are the same, i am quite happy for the 330 i paid for it. People on mutliple forums proclaim that it sounds exactly, if not better then the 43tx. Its a great receiver imo, and really show my infinity primus capabilities. might as well add that it is THX certified 7.1 receiver not that it matters.
