  1. Congratulations on your new purchase. I have a KSW-12. I'll try to answer some of your questions. Use a quality subwoofer cable and Y adapter. I use mostly Acoustic Research cables. They are pretty good quality for the inexpensive price. The level you can adjust to your tastes/needs or you can get a test CD/DVD and SPL meter if you want to get technical. I've got a Sound and Vision DVD I got off Amazon for adjusting my speakers and television. The lowpass or crossover setting will partially depend on your other speakers. It's best to set the crossover at the lowest frequency your surrounds are capable of. This prevents a "hole" in your freqeuncy range. If your receiver has its own crossover, use that and set the sub crossover to the top level. Phase can be adjusted by sitting in your normal listening position and having someone switch it for you. Whichever position provides the highest output is what you want. Placement of the sub in a front corner of the room will give you the most output, but may increase the "boominess" of the sub. OK for movies, not as good for music. Just depends on your taste really. You can experiment if your cable is long enough. Move it around and see what you think sounds best. Good luck. Hope you enjoy it.
  2. I've got a pair of HS-2 speakers on my screened in porch. I live in Central Indiana, so we get some pretty cold weather. Is it OK to leave them outside over the winter, or should I bring them in? Thanks for any advice/experience.
  3. I've got a Home Theater Master MX-500. I love it. It does take a little effort to program it, but so far I've not found a function for any component it can't handle. Plus, they can be found for around 100 bucks or so, and they aren't obnoxiously large. It even allowed me to use the sleep timer on my Hitachi television, something the Hitachi remote did not allow for. I don't think you can go wrong with it, but check out Remote Central for reviews and all kinds of excellent info.
  4. No Lap Dances? What communist part of the US do you live in? I think I'll stay in Indiana so I can have my guns and lap dances. Maybe Michael Moore would like to see my S&W?
  5. I was at the Glen for the /30. A buddy and I were walking the circumfrence of the track. At that time, some of it was in the woods. And that part of it is still in the woods. Nascar doesn't use this section of track, but the IRL will next year when they return. Too bad Ncar doesn't, it would create many more passing opportunities.
  6. I've got an RXV 550, and I like it very much. There is no difference other than appearance and marketing between the two lines. Folks around here with their noses in the air will tell you if it came from Best Buy, it's crap. Well, here you go, direct from the Yamaha website: There are many similarities between these two product lines. The RX-V line and the HTR line are produced in the same Yamaha factory using the same high quality parts throughout. The RX-V and equivalent HTR models have the same warranty periods, the same manufacturer's suggested retail price, the same features, and the same remote control units. There is a cosmetic difference found on the front panels of these two lines. The RX-V line maintains the traditional white colored lettering normally found on most Yamaha components, while the HTR line provides a slightly different approach. Yamaha has created a new look by using gold colored lettering in selected areas on the HTR receiver series. However, both the RX-V line and the HTR line feature the same high quality metal front panel construction. The amplifiers in the HTR and RX-V units are identical but rated differently to comply with the accepted measurement standards of their respective channels of distribution. Both ratings are FTC approved and are designed to handle the dynamics of today's audio and video sources. The RX-V line has the power amplifiers rated from 20-20000 Hz. The HTR line has the power amplifiers rated at 1000 Hz. Both lines can reproduce the full frequency response of 20-20000 Hz. The RX-V line is typically sold through Yamaha authorized audio/video specialty retailers, and is not available for mail order sales. The HTR line is sold through mass merchants, catalog retailers, and department stores. You may also purchase the HTR line through the mail. All transactions must be done through the authorized Yamaha dealer network. Any purchase made from an unauthorized dealer/retailer voids the Yamaha manufacturer's warranty.
  7. I don't think you want to have both the speaker inputs and the lfe connected at the same time. This could cause a problem. If you use the speaker inputs, I believe you do lose the .1, that's the output to the sub. Do you have a splitter for the lfe inputs from your sub out? This is required on the KSW-12 to receive full output. Use your amp to set the crossover if it has one and set the crossover on the sub to the highest level. Hope that helps.
  8. The actual cardboard tube is loose inside of the box.
  9. The port tube in my KSW-12 has worked its way loose. Any ideas on if it would be better to access it through the amplifier plate or the speaker itself? Also, what kind of glue might one recommend? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.
  10. The port tube in my KSW-12 has come loose. I need to reglue it in. Would it be best to access it by removing the speaker on the bottom or the amplifier plate on the back? Also, any type of glue that is recommended? Thanks for you help, the buzzing is beginning to drive me nuts.
  11. Just purchased the RX-V550 receiver to go with Quintets and my KSW-12. Cut me some slack, they're the only Klipsch I could afford. Anyway, it seems to me to lack some power and punch. I replaced 7 or 8 year old JVC with 70 watts a channel. The old JVC seemed quite a bit louder at the top end. According to Yamaha's website, the usable range is about -45 to -15. -15 Doesn't seem to cut it for me, and any louder risks the auto shutoff protection. Anyone else have this complaint with this line of Yamaha? Just looking for some opinions trying to decide if I should keep it or try another. The store is nice enough to give me 30 days to trade in or up. I like the features and the sound is very clean, just seems a little down on power. Wondering it there may be an issue with my particular unit. Thanks for any input.
  12. I've been to Winter Park a couple of times. I think it's worth the extra drive off I-70. It is large. Even when it's crowded, I'm sure you can find a run or two for yourself. I've been to CO skiing on several occasions. I'd say the only thing that separates the blues/blacks/dbl blacks is the number and size of the moguls. The blacks aren't any steeper/longer/more exposed per say, just they are generally mogul runs. I think this is especially true for Winter Park.
  13. I mostly lurk around this board just for the fun of it. About every month or so a similar thread to this one pops up worrying about the future of Klipsch. I laugh every time. It's like you all think you are part of an exclusive club. Oh no, Best Buy is selling Klipsch and my redneck next door neighbor might now be able to join my little club! Everyone has seen the new lines Klipsch is working on, right? I don't think they are going to stop making high end speakers anytime soon. And if they do, who are you to question the move? You think because you purchased a few, or even a hundred, of their speakers that you should have a vote on the board of directors? If you don't like it, don't buy their products. I think the problem you all have is that you think putting "All Klipsch" at the bottom on your signature will be cheapened if somebody you don't feel is Klipschworthy can start buying them too. Personally, I'm glad they make a less expensive line of speakers so I can afford them.
  14. I also vote for Grand Cayman. Never been anywhere better for a beach vacation.
  15. According to the website, the KSW-15 is already discontinued. They get a bad rap around here, but for the money, my KSW-12 is not bad.
