  1. I don't see much info about these subs here on the forum. I have a chance to pick one up from CL and wanted any opinions good or bad. My understanding is they are a passive sub too. Curious if anyone here has experience using one. Thanks!
  2. A pair of Belle's posted for $500. Description sounds like the cabs have seen some rougher days but sound is claimed to be great. No affiliation...just thought those looking for Belle's this might be a good deal. http://grandrapids.craigslist.org/ele/1395519349.html If someone gets pictures share!
  3. Go to my post in the Garage Sale section...What looks to be a GREAT deal on K-horns. Only 3 hours old. GOOD LUCK!!!
  4. Hi Guys, Thanks for all of the feedback. I figure at this price it's not a bad deal, but I will be certain to check and see if my friend has had any "repair" work or any mods done to the amp. I like the idea of adding a 2A fast-blow type fuse, but do not know how to go about doing this type of mod. Any instructions you can point me to? I appreciate the help. BIG BLUE2
  5. Hello, It's been a long time since I've posted here. I have a set of Kg4's and I am considering buing and hooking up to a QSC amp. I have a Yamaha pre amp that I can use. Mainly I use this for parties and the kids using this in the basement to kick out the jams. Here is my question. I have an opportunity to buy a QSC MX 1500 amp for $200 used. This is the older version not the 1500a. This is a very lightly used piece as I know the guy who was using it as a slave amp for a few gigs with his guitar rig. At 500w into 4 ohm I'm thinking this would fair nicely with the Kg4's. I also have a pair of Cornwall II's (circa 1985)...I wonder how it would sound with those....Hmmm. Any advice on the price and or mating with the Kg4's would be much appreciated. Thanks, Big Blue2
  6. For those in Michigan, I ran across these speakers on Craigslist. For $400 bucks they don't look too bad. I don't know much about the EV drivers, maybe someone could help explain better. I have no connection what so ever with this posting, just saw the familiarity with the K-horns and thought I'd let the forum know they were out there. http://detroit.craigslist.org/msg/635585479.html Regards, BIG BLUE2
  7. Hey Gang, Been a while since I posted, happened to see these JBL's on ebay and had to share with the group. They are asking almost $4K for these. They do look mint, have never seen/heard these wonder how they compare to my Cornwalls or K-horns. Anyone? Here is the linc http://cgi.ebay.com/JBL-L300-SPEAKERS-IN-MINT-CONDITION_W0QQitemZ140118329693QQihZ004QQcategoryZ14991QQrdZ1QQcmdZViewItem
  8. Yep, happened to me a couple of times way back in the late 80's! I can't believe these guys are still out there with this scam. Actually, my bro-in-law bought a pair of the speakers from these guys about 10 years ago (yep, white van and East-coast accent and all) and still has them in his basement. I think they soaked him about $300 bucks, and they sounded like a pair of $20 speakers from K-mart. I didn't have the heart to tell him at the time, but we laugh about it today. Someone must be making some money from it if their still doing this around country 15 years later!
  9. Hey all, I've been checking out this forum for a few months now and decided to finally register so I can join the fun! From what I've seen/read here there are some great folks that really know their stuff. I will be needing some advice for future upgrades to a couple of systems I have but first let me intro myself and my experience with Klipsch. History (brief, but not so brief): I first went shopping for a "real" pair of speakers back in about 1986. After reading all of the "Stereo Review" copies I could get my hands on as a recent high school grad with a few bucks to spend, I headed out to the local Stereo Shoppe with what I thought was enough speaker knowledge and an ear for what I wanted. As I entered the showroom I was overwhelmed with all of the different brands, sizes, colors and price tags. The one thing that struck me was a couple of K-horns nicely tucked in the corners of the high-end sound room. I could hear that there was music coming out of them and asked the sales guy what they were and what were they hooked up to. He laughed and explained that they were hooked up to the Sony walkman sitting on the table in-between the two speakers. What? why would you do this I asked, and he xplained that as a goof to kill some time they hooked up the walkman just to see what it would sound like. He then of course went into the high sensitivity issue, and how Klipsch was known as being some of the most efficient speakers on the market. That was it, I knew I had to learn more about this line of speakers and try and fit a pair into my budget somehow. Well, later that week I went in a put down the cash for a set of Klipsch speakers. As a recent high school grad the reality of owning a set of K-horns was a bit out of reach (not to mention that I did not have a room to accomodate the "corner placement") so, I bought a set of Kg4's and a Denon DRA-555 receiver to power my new investment. When I purchased the Kg4's, the Shoppe that I got them from had a neat promotion going on. If you purchased a set of Klipsch speakers you could use them for one full year and bring them back and trade them up for a more expensive set for full credit. Wow! what a deal, I could have an intro set of Klipsch and trade-up in a year once I've saved more money? As the one-year mark was fast approaching I was trying to make a decision on what to trade the Kg4's in for. To make a long story short, I ended up buying a set of Cornwall II's and kept the Kg4's 'cause I just couldn't give them up! So here I am today almost 20 years later and I still have the Cornwall's and the Kg4's and they both sound as good as the day I bought them with many many hours of music passing through them. And now I've discovered another thing about Klipsch that I wish I had many years ago--a forum of like minded people to share the passion of owning Klipsch speakers and all of the memories they have given us. So, once again I'm fortunate to have found this meeting place and will seek advice from those in the know. Thanks for reading BIG BLUE2
  10. dkp, Hey! I live in the Lansing area. Have you tried Flat Black and Circular out on Campus? Those guys are great about locating something that they do not have. Wazoo records (if still in business since the owners death?) is also a good source. May want to try Elderly Instruments too. Good luck in your search. BIG BLUE2
