Hey all. I'm looking for recommendations on a cheapish projector. Under $1500 so no 1080p. If it would be a better idea to get a smaller 42-47" lcd that can do 1080p I welcome recommendations of those also. Thanks all!

Almost the entire Cowon player lineup supports flac and ogg. They are pretty much top of the line when it comes to sound quality and power output.

Senheiser HD280Pros are very flat headphones for the price ($100). Highs are there but not overly bright, lows are there but not muddy. They are closed so they make great winter muffs and are well suited for any travel thanks to their 15db+ of all natural isolation. HD497s are another great set that go for around $50. Little more efficient than the 280s due to lower resistance and a slightly louder bass and brighter highs. They are very light compared to most comparable headphones but have cheap pleather/plastic surrounds can get sweaty.

Considering I get 4 hits when I google this I'm sure its a fake company that rebrands other companies woofers. I wouldn't be surprised if you see these on ebay priced way below their "alleged" msrp.

Remember though that these are 300ohms and you will not be able to run them with portables. They will sound very quiet without a dedicated headphone amp, which can set u back another $100... Your better bet is to get the HD280s, which can be gotten for the same price and more than likely more accurate and are much easier to power at 64ohms.

Actually if I do recall correctly, the resolution of the 30" is 2048 x 1536. This when the math is done out looks like this: 2048 x 1536 x 85 (refresh rate) = 267.4mhz. DVI is 165mhz so it can actually only support 1600 x 1200 x 85, which comes to 163.2mhz. Graphic cards an use a simple compression scheme that can reduce the used bandwidth of an image called blanking elimination. Blanking is used in CRT screens as the electron gun retraces to the top of the screen for the next frame to be drawn. This takes up 30% of the monitors time, and since DVI was designed with CRTs in mind, this was added to the spec. Eliminating this cuts about 5-10% of the bandwidth usage, but it still doesn't allow for much improvement in the resolutions. (1920x1200x60) There are two common ways to get past the bandwidth issue. One is to drop out of digital mode and use the graphic card's RAMDAC to send an analog signal through the DVI cable to the monitor. This can cause some image quality loss. The other way is to use a dual link DVI connection. This can be either one dual link cable or in some older cases, two separate single link cables.

The F1 cars really don't have all that much of a speed advantage. The fastest recorded speed of an F1 car that followed regulations is 232mph. This is comparable to what a high end card like a Ford GT or a Ferrari Enzo can do. The F1 cars find their biggest advantage in the corners, where their large tires, light weight, and heavy downforce give them the traction to hit the corners faster than a MotoGP bike. They also have a considerable acceleration advantage owing to their light weight, great traction, and considerable horsepower.

HD comes in two flavors. 720 and 1080. The number refers to the ammount of pixels the picture is tall. 720 can come interlaced or progressive. Interlaced means that the tv with show odd and even fields every other frame. Imagine the screen was split into horizontal rows one pixel wide. Put a number next to each "field". The odd numbers are displayed first, then the even fields are displayed, then the odd fields again. This is done 60 times a second for NTSC and 50 frames per second for PAL. This was done to save bandwidth, as you would only have to transmit have the picture at any time. Progessive scan displays the entire picture every frame. You can find tvs that support this resolution in both 4:3, which is very uncommon these days, and 16:9, which is your standard widescreen. Most hi-def television is broadcast in this resolution because of bandwidth limitations. 1080 also comes in both interlaced and progressive. I do think that all 1080 broadcasts are done interlaces because of progressive scan's immense bandwidth requirements. 1080 can also come in both 4:3 (I actually owned one of these...) and 16:9. Now for the Xbox 360. All games published for the Xbox360 must support 720p and Dolby Digital 5.1 as a minimum requirement. All original Xbox titles are scaled to 720p and have some level of antialiasing (to remove jagged edges) applied to them. There are no current titles that support 1080 though several use 720p with antialiasing. The maximum output of the Xbox 360 is 1080i.

Call me old fashioned, but nothing replaces limewire or bittorrent for those hard to find songs. Might be illegal, but I don't think it even compares to some of the crimes that goes on in out execuitive branch.

The Kwik Trip in our town uses Klipsch outdoor speakers for backround music by the pumps. Too bad they are open 24/7...

I wouldn't doubt that there have been several prototypes by Suzuki and Honda that have been pulling nearly 30K rpms.

The closest theater to us still has half their rooms using stereo.

It's sad that there are alot of great artists out there that have no real say how their CD is recorded. It's all about the lables making their money.

I seriously wouldn't be thinking about trying to get better sound out of Synergys when the last gen Reference stuff will be on clearance at a lot of online stores.

Well it comes with an 8gb hard drive stock, but you can either put a bigger one in yourself, or buy a pre modded xbox. Heres some detailed instructions on how to mod one yourself. You will need a way to copy a game save from your computer to an xbox memory card, and a copy of a certian game, which you can rent. http://www.techfreaks.org/articles/modxbox.shtml

Once you have the modded xbox all setup you can use an FTP client to send the mp3s to the xbox, or you can rip them using XBMC. You can also choose to leave all the music on your computer and use Windows network sharing to access them fromt he xbox.

Thats true, but you wouldn't be able to get the low response time with wireless. It would have to be heavier too, since it would have to carry a battery.
