  1. Congrats on the find. I found a 208 about a year ago, but don't have a tonearm for it yet. Looks nice and the motor spins quietly. Its sitting pretty in a display case until I can get her fully operational. You can download the owners manual here after registering. http://www.vinylengine.com/library/empire/298-troubador.shtml
  2. I loved those cartoons! thanks for the memory and the laugh. Thank you and I'd love to see more.
  3. Great Thread! I too find over hyped applause on inferior recordings irritating. One of the best live CD's I've heard is Alison Krauss + Union Station. Great sound and superb preformance. The applause is not overbearing and accually sounds like applause instead of the frying bacon of bad recordings. I
  4. Sounds like something I've been thinging of doing. Could you please describe a little better what you cut and how to assemble? I'm not quite visualizing your description. Thank you.
  5. Yes, please post some more info. I won't even be insulted if you go into great detail for us wood shop stunted types like myself. []
  6. Believe it or not, a Yelloy Dry Erase Marker will remove pernamant marker (like sharpies) from most hard surfaces. Just rub it on the same spot that the marker is on and then wipe of with a clean rag. Must be a cemical reaction, but it works great on what I've tried it on.
  7. Thats a cool idea. I have a recent Academy purchase that I've been pondering haning down from the ceiling edge. I'll start searching myself also and let you know if I find anything.
  8. I use a little black Niles amp switch box I bought for about $69 a few years ago. It lets you hook up one pair of speakers to the back of it and two amps. The little button on the front switches back and forth. Works well for me. I'll have to get the model for you later as it escapes me.
  9. Hello Josh and Dean. Sorry to take so long responding. Things went hectic this last week. I'm probably going to have to back out of what seems like a very nice pair of crossovers due to some unforseen expenses that have come up. Josh, I appolgize for jumping the gun and thank you for your offer to hold them until I sold some gear. I just think it might take me longer to make some hobby money with my other expenses. Good luck on the sale; I'll keep tabs on the thread in case you still have the networks when things get better for me. Dean, thanks for responding and the information. I love my Khorns for their dynamics when I have the rare chance to really crank them or when watching moves, but I do tend to use and enjoy them most of the time at modereate lower levels when I need to relax. For this reason, I've figered I'd go for some simpler 1st order networks from what I've read on the fourm. The increased detail of updated caps will be welcome though I'm happy with my ignorance of how my Khorns should sound at this time. []
  10. Hello Josh, If these are still for sale, I'm very interested. I've been wanting to recap my '78 Khorns for a while. I'll need to sell off some of my extra audio gear first though. I'll have to talk with the wife first also. Shoot me an email or PM if you still have them and can give me a couple of weeks for payment. Also, Josh or Dean, could you tell me if these are what you'd call "bright" or "warm" sounding and if they sound good with lower volumes (thats what I usually listen at). Thanks - David
  11. Just noticed that AudioKarma.org is not poining to where it shoud. I hope what looks like didn't happen. Grumpy and the guys there just got their neww server up and running.
  12. Great Thread Rudy! I'm overdue for some better coner sealing. One of my KHorns has only 12" of "corner" on one edge! I'm looking a building a hybrid false wall/sealed back when I finnally get some free time.
  13. Thanks for the coments guys. My legomaniac's favorites are Tom Waitts, Jonny Horton, Pink Floyd, and Alison Krauss. Some of my favorites too I guess. Kaiser I havent heard Snow yet. I need to get out more. I'm lucky that my family enjoys listening to a variety of music and appreciates our audio equipment. Thanks for the compliment on the Akai Oldbuckster. There's nothing so soothing after a long day as those groovey spinnin reels. [8]
