  1. There’s a lot to take from those two posts and I agree, with some. For me one of the absolute’s I must have with the larger horn Klipsch speakers is silence, dead silence at the horn. Each and every Pass designed amp has lived up to this, as has Hypex, as has Benchmark. Benchmark and Hypex are two amps with the blackest background noise ever tested. They are absolutely dead silent. That doesn’t mean they sound good but they do, they’re neutral. Nothing added, rounded, softened. If it’s recorded it’s gonna be there. I cannot say that for many tube amp/preamp combination I’ve owned. But of course I have just scratched the surface so a blanket statement can’t be made for either-

I'm starting to lean toward the Benchmark AHB2 that has the same form factor as the Cyrus.  Anyone tried this combo?  Also, would be curious what the factory uses to verify the speakers pre shipment.

From what we know only person can comment on the new Heritage Jube. For those of us with the “underground” version I am running two Benchmarks as monoblocks. The second amp is a very recent addition but I can say there is more of everything from top to bottom. Like a lot more - . Power rating goes from 100 watts/stereo > 380 watts/bridged mono. The clarity of the Bench is beyond reproach. If you don’t favor crystal clear, absolute neutral sound these may not be for you. They are even cleaner than the Hypex nCore 400 monoblocks I had thought were the end all. Because of their design - Class AB with a Class H power supply they are reasonably small and run nearly as cool as the Hypex.
Please remember the Jubes are run with passive crossovers and it’s a simple setup - laptop > RME DAC > Benchmarks all patched together with Benchmark star quad XLR’s.
Edit - a quick comment on low power triodes with Jubes. I ran 2a3 monoblocks early on and yes they will power them nicely and of course sound tremendous But, and of course, they will certainly run out of steam when you put the beans to them. At some point 2.5 watts hit the wall and once you’ve arrived, there is no more. Even though the Jubes are more efficient than a LaScala a low power SET will have better luck launching the LS than the Jube. Or so I have found -

In that scenario you’re equipped, aware of your vulnerability and prepared.

In a retail environment where instead of pulling out a wallet the “customer” pulls a gun, pointing it in your face from a couple, three feet. Faced with that, options are few, particularly when you’re instantly cast into self-preservation mode -

  4. You’re alone in a store, two masked guys come in who certainly don’t have the look of a “consumer”. Clerks mind is going a mile a minute. What’s he supposed to think when the guy jumps the counter? He didn’t jump to shake hands. And there lies the problem with a

jury who has no earthly idea of how/what one thinks and reacts in this situation. I was robbed at gunpoint many years ago and trust me, the thoughts running through your mind can’t truly be understood by a jury. Particularly when you’re taken to the back room and pulling the phone cord from the wall. Well - is this it, is it over - ? Now, many years later and all growed up, I’m with SSH - I’d soon blow the f’ers head off -

  5. One has to wonder what development research was or could be done with such a DIY project? Doubtful time was spent in a anechoic chamber? Designed and tuned by ear? Not saying they ain’t great but engineered to 402 standards ?

I think there are people that truly hate each other in here. Like for real.

Hate is a strong word. How about a penchant for vigorous disagreement?
(of course with undertones of dislike)

This guy is "still in diapers" I guess?

Westie, Westie, Westie - you should know as well as anyone what diapers are full of? Same as many people -

  8. Nothing pissses my step son more than when I point out the VIN tag on his AMG CLS55 says Daimler Chrysler. And being a Dodge fan I point it out as often as possible. Particularly when we would run our blown cars, in Mexico of course, for a brew. He bought a few beers.
Yeah and the Chrysler 300 is really a MB platform, sorta. Daimler formed an alliance with Chrysler not for their expertise is car design but for access to the only super computer in the industry at the time. You really think MB had any respect for Chrysler engineering?
And rumor has it Ducati, owned by Audi (of course you know that) will shoe horn the R8 v10 between two wheels -

@MMurg I know I'm going to get boo'd out of the room but I would try pure tung oil applied with 0000 steelwool on those blemishes. Do not allow the tung oil to set. Remove excess while it is still wet. One thing is for certain it will not hurt.

They are incredible.  It's hard to describe them without it just sounding like a string of superlatives.

    — then make it simple. They sound okay -

As for boxes, I kept my Jube boxes by cutting them down and stacking them. At least the bin boxes.
