  1. Hey Mercedes - my sons a cop and was involved in a home related domestic shooting where he was drawn on by the "bad guy". I'm glad he is able to wear a Kevlar vest that makes him look "tough". So from me to you - blow it out your ***. And yeah the bad guy is no longer drawing on anyone.
  2. Not sure the exact year, '77 or '78, my factory ordered LaScallas were around $1700/pr. New Klipsch prices seem no more out of line, percentage wise, than new autos.
  3. I'm with Bob on this one. The guys trying, trying being key here, to place an order. Actually spend money. And a system is in place dependent on the newest web format available? How about reverting to Stone Age business - somebody pick up the phone, a pen and paper and take the mans' money. More often than not we are our own enemies.
  4. Or a bite of your Del Taco! Glad your here to tell the story. Maybe another venue is the answer.
  5. I plan to wax our cars next week for the upcoming bad weather --- they don't seem to sound any better but they will drive like a dream.
  6. MrCatsup Internet/cable speed will be no issue as Google fiber has gone live in my area - 1000/Mbps. Tiger I think I'm going to bite the chit sandwich and go all the way with LG 4K OLED technology. I don't seem to hesitate spending $$$ on hifi so TV entertainment should be on the same level. At least that's what I'm telling myself!
  7. Those are all good prices for sure. About a grand more for OLED technology in like size screen. One has to ask if that technology = the added $$$. More often than not, it does.
  8. And a Happy Thansgiving to All ---- / So I think the wife and I are deserving of a new TV for Christmas. I have pretty much decided on three brands - Samsung, LG and Sony. 55 - 65 inch. Keeping it below 2 grand. I've been reading on 4K vs 1080 and like most things on the interweb lots of opinions. Curve vs flat. OLED vs LED. Right now I'm thinking LG, 55-60, OLED. The OLED technology seems to provide the best picture technology available in both 4K and 1080. And with your opinion(s) actual experience/ownership will lend lots of credence.
  9. It appears this is the daily practice for our crossover contributor's ---- !
  10. You are certainly sure of One thing if the word "crossover" is used in a thread - a cordial little fireside chat. Maybe everyone should give up their Klipsch rigs and go single driver, zero crossovers?! No fuss, no muss, - oh that's right we would have the "which driver is the best" pundits chime in. Either way, makes for good reading while on the can!
  11. Wards - you might want to check out JET dust collection products. Reasonably priced, durable and spares are easily sourced. We actually provided them on multi-million $$$ paper converting equipment over ultra high priced units that would have shipped with our German manufactured equipment. Production customers loved 'em.
  12. That's what I tell my wife - the "weatherman" must go to acting school to make even the most mundane forecast sound like the world coming to an end. Can't hardly stand to watch any of them although the station managers must know this as they have started putting some lookers/bodies on to attract/keep more of an audience. Put all the news people in a bag and shake it up, they all fall out the same. News readers is all they are, few true journalists. And I love the term "anchor". What do you do for a living "we'll I'm a news anchor". Like all anchors, throw 'em overboard.
  13. Had to sell my first pair of factory bought '76 LaScallas when wife #1 and I moved into our first home. Wife #2 wasn't too thrilled with speakers or prices above that of Hereseys so I had two pair of those. Wife #3 and right now I am listening to a fine pair of Fastlane modified KHorns with Class A monoblocks; a pair of Quartets, Zu Essence, Merlin MMM stand mounts, two single ended tube amps, a nice hybrid integrated, a couple preamps and two systems upstairs. Are you sure you have your priority's right? Just sayin' ----
  14. My local channels carried Steelers/Browns and GB/Detroit, I watched P-burgh, I haven't seen any other game highlights but I saw one commentator say that Manning can't throw the deep ball right now and enemy teams aren't even defending it. I've got to believe Manning has some physical problem, probably arm or rotator cuff that hasn't made the news yet. Yes he has the same physical problem as all of us - he is getting old. No doubt Payton will go down as one of the great ones and rightfully so. But the guy is 39 with 18 years in the League, 4 years of college ball, high school etc. He needs to go out while he can still function. For is own good this needs to be his last hurray. He has nothing else to prove and no reason to hang his head. Walk away while you still can - walk.
  15. Sometimes forgotten among the Big Two - Canon and Nikon - you should check out Pentax. Much more "pro" quality than you will find from the box store lines pushed by the big Two. Pentax has a long history and their glass is some of the best.
  16. I've ordered the 10 pack to cost average the improvements in sound I'm soon to hear. My sonic bliss will cost less than yours. I plan to go high-rise with mine, varying the stack per tube to "fine tune" the L-R balance for each recording. Yeah, I'm in. Oh you doubters --
  17. So you will be doing "your thing" (which I am sure is a "trade secret") which will render it a different preamp. Correction; you are not building that preamp then. Your questions come off as accusatory. I don't know what the problem is but try to lighten up a bit if you would. CEC, I couldn't agree more. Had I been Toolshed I would have cut communication with JPM long ago. Nothing but opinionated and argumentative. While the design aspects are way over my head I've owned every amp configuration you can think of. (No OTL yet) Every design can be tweaked and messaged to find that sweet spot. Toolshed, build as you see fit, sales will dictate what if any corrections should follow. Or sub-contract to JPM, he seems to have all the answers and would certainly know how to communicate with customers!
  18. I will try my tube pre today for chits and grins. I sent an email to NP via his First Watt site about long interconnects and I guess by luck had an answer first thing the next morning. To think the Great One answered one of my questions!
  19. Wdecho The only fault I find with the B1 in my system is there seems to be too much gain, although the B1 doesn't actually provide gain. I have very little sweep on the volume pots, it comes on very strong very early, but the detail it provides is incredible. This is a CD only system. I plan to ask NP a solution to this; with my limited knowledge on such things I think it might take different pots that have a lower or higher Kohm spec? I do have a tube pre laying around which I may try but have no doubt the openness and detail will be affected.
  20. No, it doesn't but I do believe Class D is indeed an amp design subtitle; Class D has been used in car audio, to drive sub-woofers, etc.
  21. Erik, one of the nicest sounding and most powerful sound for its meager 1-2 watt rating was an EL84 integrated by a fellow named Eddie Vaughn. I actually had it in my system years ago but being amp rich and dollar poor I returned to my friend who owned it. If I do see another pop up I will definitely add yet another to my collection. It was a stunningly good piece and I believe Eddie had to give up commercial amp building and return to the workforce.
  22. With two nice single ended tube integrated's and a SS/tube hybrid I haad been biting the bit for another taste of Class A SS. I fondly remenbered the clean, transperent and controlled sound of Class A solid state. To that end I recently picked up a pair of Forte Audio Model 7, 75 watt Class A monoblocks and a First Watt B1 buffered dual pot volume control. Forte was a division of Threshold and First Watt is a Nelson Pass company. Of course Threshold (Forte) was Nelson's baby also. The Khorns are clean, crisp, open with crystal highs and deep, controlled bass. A more detailed presentation than my SE tubes yet no listening fatigue. The B1 really lets the details show through. And in monoblock configuration the sound stage is enormous side to side. So far so good.
  23. Class T? Class D? Gainclone? Any whichone in particular??
