i was refered here from audiogon,im bigjoe on audiogon, here's the scoop,1st ill explain my system,
1 mcintosh mc300 amp for the cornwall 1s =300 watts
1mcintosh mc7104 amp for the k horns=200 watts
1mcintosh mc122 amp for my klipsch sub=120 watts
1 mcintosh mq101 equlizer for the cornwalls
1 mcintosh mq101 equlizer for the k horns
1 mcintosh mq 102 equlizer for the sub
1 mcintosh mcd 7007 cd player
1mcintosh mr7082 tuner
1 mcintosh c-38 preamp
1 cary audio tube dac
i run my rig in quad with the 3rd amp input on my preamp for the sub,no surround sound, here is my dilema, the k-horns sound like jesus himself is singing to me & the sound is perfect in every way,sub is also perfect but the cornwalls sound very thin in the mids, almost like they are missing true midrange,i have had the mids rebuilt in both cabs from a dealer who never makes mistakes so i know the parts & the work are all good, still bad mids,im thinking of going to the alk crossovers but a guy on audiogon said the alk's were inferior,he also said my crossovers might have a problem,i checked & they both look good with no leaks or visable damage, ihave heard all the stuff about going to tube's to correct the problem but i have been there before & want to stay away from tube amps plus my mac ss amps perform perfectly with the k-horns so the cornwalls should be the same, how can i get better mids & any suggestions on the alk's.
