Try a better quality amp. I went from a Emotiva 125 watt amp to a McIntosh 50 watt amp, and the Emotiva was sold that winter. Personally I love my Scott 222c on my Heresies, nothing like 20 watts of tube power to make them sing. I still disagree with you. My buddy used to run a McIntaosh tube amp....still owns it....but now runs a Bryston 4B-SST pumping out 250 wpc paired with his KHorns and it sounds amazing. It's not that you can't run flea powered amps, you can....and some people like yourself actually prefer that...I don't ....and in my experience with over forty different speaker and amp combos in my lifetime the higher power amps (as long as it is clean power) bring the most out of your speakers.Ever wonder why concert venues and auditoriums don't run 20wpc amps through efficient speakers? ever heard of a thing called placebo? But hey, I paid so much more money for it so it MUST sound better so to me it DOES sound better. It does not take huge power to get great sound, it is all about the quality of the amps. The most power I am running is in the HT, there my Cornwalls are being driven by a Fort'e amp that CAN go up to about 300 w but it sounds best when running in class A under 15 w and even then in the HT, it is OMG loud.

My take is that you would like the Cornwall but it does not have the horn bass that you are looking for. I have both CW2 and Khorns. The CW has more of a punch than the Khorns do in the bass. Horns love tubes as they say here so you may not have been listening to a optimal setup for Khorns as it sounds like they were in a HT setup. There is nothing wrong with that but most HTs use SS, not tubes so you may have been hearing a little of the difference between the amps too.

A lot of us tend to have "extra" sets hanging around. At the moment I have a pair of Quartets just sitting on top of my Cornwalls in the HT. The Cornwalls sound so good, you THINK the Quartets are on but they are not even connected LOL.

OOPS, I got the amps/speakers wrong in the above post. Mains, Fort'e 3 Sides, Yamaha M80 Center, rears Yamaha AVR . Other than that, all is the same, I saw I had NO mains and two amps driving the rears LOL!

In my man cave, my 2 ch setup, it is pure tube, in the HT, it is 100% SS. To ME, the tubes are, fuller, more well rounded while the SS is very good it just lacks, ... something, a richness I guess. The HT is a Yamaha AVR running as a pre/pro and powering the center and rears while sides are powered by a Fort'e 3 SS amp and a Yamaha M80 amp driving the rears. Both are class A / AB but due to my Klipsch speakers effeciency the amps pretty much stay in class A. Sure I could live happily with SS only because I have pretty good amps but I do enjoy the tubes a wee bit more I must say. YMMV!

I have looked into Square too, I have not done it yet but the people I talked to are very happy with the service.

Pick up some Ti. diaphrams from Bob Crites, it makes a world of difference for only a little money

I suppose it depends on how much magic is in the wire or at least how much one may think is in the wire. At 50 feet, 14 gauge speaker wire or zip cord is what I would run but then I do not put much magic in the wire. No I have not used the super expensive stuff but I did try with O2 free copper, 10 gauge and down, my old ears did not hear a difference. Someone else may I suppose.

UH...... OK! That is not what I would want to look at, I can't imagine looking through a glitter screen to see the image behind it for 90 minutes but as the product is produce, I guess there is a market for it. Not me but someone I guess. I will stick with my Dalite screen.... there is NO glitter!

Same here no man cave but just a living room, the wife picked the bigger 2 Ch speakers I picked the fortes ll's for HT. This pic is a few years old but the only thing different is some electronics are missing in this pic and there is usually clean clothes on that black seat on the left waiting to be folded, and grand kids toys possibly anywhere ? I love the floor, I am a big fan of hard wood flooring. We just installed about 1200 sq ft of Hickory, it made a HUGE difference in the look of the house. Ya think those horns in the corners are big enough?

Steven, those Khorns look right at home there! Great ladies are hard to come by, those who give up the decor in "their" living room are even more rare! NICE:D

The garage stereo actually sounds pretty good. The 301's have modded Crites crossovers and titanium diaphragmed tweeters and squawkers. I stream (the service formerly known as) MOG out there so I can pretty much listen to whatever I want to. You got to love those Crites Titanium parts. I installed them in most every speaker I have though I am still on stock Xovers. My Khorns are bone 1978 stock so I suppose they are due for upgrades. My shop (garage) setup is a pair of H1s with stock Xover design but built with high end parts and a pair of 4311s. It does a pretty good job of overpowering the sound of running equipment. You can see them at the start of the linked video I put up.

I am fairly new to working with wood but my personal view is that you will end up with cherry COLORED poplar. If that is what you are going for then by all means give it a try. I work with the wood I want the project to end up with from the start. Oak is Oak, Black walnut is used for Black walnut. In the big picture, yes the "real" wood costs more than the poplar route but the result will be much better if it is the wood color and grain that you are after. I am not a fan of stains at all but a lot of that stuff is sold every day so I guess I am a very small minority here.

Looking good! I bought the son some 5.5s a while ago, nice speakers. I never heard the Tangents but I do own some Fort'e 1s and I think they are a little more well rounded sound. The KGs should be fine and they look great! Enjoy

Normally there is more heat than light with a wire thread! I have tried lots of wires and none made much if any difference. Perhaps it is my old and well worn ears, or that I did not have expectations of what I was supposed to hear IDK. When I rewired the HT, I went with the flat wire from Monoprice, it is designed to go under carpet and blend in well, just keep the wires side by side rather than on top of each other when running multiple wires say near a door under the carpet.

Sweet that they are working with you but bummer it is on your dime. Here is rooting for the next go round to be everything you hoped it would be.

Marvel, that looks quite comfy, not quite along with the MAN theme but it is OK to include the wife I guess :P Just kidding, I could relax there no problem ;D I can't make it out, what R to R is that? I have a Tandberg that needs a new drive belt. I took it apart years ago to replace the belt but never got around to finishing the job. All the pieces SHOULD be there (I put the screws ect in zip bags) so one of these days I need to finish that thing!
