  1. Whoo hooo... Crisis over... Thanks Mike! (who called me & diagnosed my ignorance over the phone) Seems the fuse in the ES network DOES cover the woofer and it was blown. Quick swap out and all is fine. Nothing like a $1,00 fix for my stupidity
  2. I had two amps connected to a Niles switchbox & all was working/sounding fine. Swapped one of the amps out and THOUGHT I had it (new one) turned off..seems I didn't. Ok, I was moving the input wire and heard a pop or some kind of sound, which was my first clue that I didn't get it turned off. I quickly turned it off. Got things together and forgot about it until today. Turned on today and it sounds kind of hollow. Seems the left side woofer isn't woofing. hmmmm... Figuring it was the newly installed amp, I hit the niles switch to the OTHER amp and same problem. No woofing. Went to the fuses on the speaker and the fuses show continuity (ohm meter). so, unless Al's ES network has anything to do with it (I think the fuse in it covers entire speaker?) I've got a wimpy woof. Seem reasonable? If in fact I blew the woofer, if I replace it, is it better to replace BOTH of them so we're all on the same page? What kind of expense is a new woofer?
  3. ohhhhhhhhhh, now that was sooooooooooo bad.... I was sitting here multi-taskng... reading the Klipsch site and CRANKING the Queen concert up on my pc's dvd player... Went to look... Well, I'm about deaf now [:$] (did I just get punked? lol)
  4. Perhaps, but you still have several fine musicians who know how to rock/roll and put on a nice show []
  5. Update on how the show was? Looks like only Brian May & Roger Taylor were there? (Meaning John Deacon wasn't?) Was in store yesterday & saw dvd of this show from Sheffield. So far looks like a great sounding show from the dvd. (only about 3 tracks in as I type) Back to the show
  6. The man I bought the Cornwalls from used them in his college dorm room I had my LaScalas in my dorm room... and my EV's []
  7. I just sold my Jolida 502-B on ebay tonight (presuming they pay). It was my first foray into tubes since you gotta start somewhere. I swapped tubes out and installed EH-KT90's instead of the stock tubes. It added some bass to the sound and I did like it. The 502 was quiet, would drive my Khorns very loud. It had a small scratchy noise in the volume control that I've seen in MANY controls. It drove me nuts. Finally I bought some 2A3 and SE-OTL amps along with a Peach pre. I wanted to end up with a low powered amp along with a high powered amp to match with the Peach. Since the Jolida was an integrated, it had to go. I might add that the biggest reason I sold it was that it was integrated. When I first got it, it blew a tube. Long story short, if you do some reasearch back to around January of 2005 you might find the story. Their customer service for me was absolutely OUTSTANDING. A little TOO good as they intended on swapping out a single tube I had (that shorted out) and they sent me an entire second amplifier! I sent it back to them and they almost sent it back to me again. Today, the Jolida is out of my system, pending payment/shipping to the ebay person. I also sold the 2A3's I had which leaves me with the SE-OTL amps plugged into my Peach. The two things I didn't like about the Jolida was my preference for a power amp & not integrated (but I had to start somewhere). That shortcoming isn't a 'fault' obviously but none the less, it was a mark 'against' the 502. Secondly, it did have that audible noise in the controls that after hearing the Peach...I realized I did not have to settle for. I DO think that was probably fixable had I cared to upgrade some of the controls. my .0002
  8. I admit I really did think the Be(u?)ngles would win today. That feeling was smugly reinforced during their first drive... up until they had the td called back... or perhaps when they dropped the second td... or it might have been when he wiffed the field goal... Dunno...it was somewhere in there I had that very familiar (since I've been a fan since their inception & through the 'lost decades') cold & clammy feeling in my stomach....that it was a doom & gloom day. With that all said, I was really rooting for Palmer to break the passer rating, even if they lost. [:|]
  9. I just hate it when the Bengals get schooled by the Steelers!! [] Kudos to the Steelers for the lesson. Perhaps the students can graduate into a higher grade by the time they meet again. []
  10. Thanks for all the thoughts. I'll copy/forward this to him on Monday. I think he's got the higher end speaker as was referenced above. My recollection upon talking to him was he was invited to exchange a VERY expensive speaker for what I presume to be a much less expensive speaker. I have no idea if he's terribly familiar with Klipsch or not. I invited him to come here & visit. When I realized how much flloor space those might require, that's when I suggested getting the Khorns since they will tuck so nicely away and be very unobtrusive when in the room.
  11. Someone I spoke to today evidently acquired a while back a pair of Magnaplaners. (I don't know if "that" is the model or if there are other models) he said they're about 6' tall and each "speaker" consists of three different section, each 6' tall and about 12" wide +/-. He got them free. One of the speakers (at least) needs new tweeters that are evidently available. To bring you up to date, he was offered a pair of Forte's as an even swap. Supposedly, the Forte's are pristine and their owner just feels that they are for rock & roll and his tastes have changed. The Magnaplaners are in his garage, unused, unfixed... BUT, viewed as an interesting piece of his "stuff". He's not sure he wants to spend the time to fix them or not So... is that an interesting offer? a junk offer? I've personally never knowingly heard either speaker and if I had, I forget so I'm useless. One thing that I think was viewed as a negative by him was the amount of space the Magnaplaners might take/require. I told him to get a pair of Khorns & forget it... Any thoughts on the offer he's received?
  12. Fraid it's gonna be Johnson & Perry showing the Steelers the "bad runs" [:$] I didn't just say that?
  13. Sadly, it seems I'm going to miss my chance at getting scammed... His response to my above was Hello, I can not send my money firs without seeing the watch first, i have to know if it is genuine, please no offence. Is not that i don't trust you but i have been scamed once before and i don't plan leting repete it self. Albert To which I replied I was sorry to hear he was scammed & thank you for your interest. (I'd still rather break his fingers)
  14. How's Warrick doing? I always rooted for him and was kind of sad to see him go (of course, those sad feelings were shortlived when the Bengals jumped out to a fine start...but I digress.) I hope is leg is 100% and he can recapture some of that magic he had while in college.
  15. Preface: I'm selling my wife's Rolex on EBAY. It's a LADIES watch and the BIN price is $3,950. (and no I'm not shilling the watch here) That said, I got one of the local scammers trying to scam me. The following is his commentary copied directly out of the email. Q: Dear Mr. or Mrs. I noticed your item listed for auction and i'm very interested in it.I want to express this way my firm intention to purchase it. Due to the value of the item i was wondering wheter you will accept using an escrow service in our transaction due to the guarranty provided for both of us. Ofcourse, beeing my idea, i'm offering to pay for all the costs implied in the transaction.I want to know more about your item and also please tell me the final price at you are willing to sell your item.I want to thank you in advance for your gratitude to answer my inquiry. You can contact me at fuentemv@aim.com to discuss further this aspect. Sincerely, Albert To which I responded: I'd love to sell you my watch. It's a man's watch & my final price is $15,000 Best regards to your excellent response. Hello, I agree to offer you $15,000 + escrow fees + shiping costs. The escrow service i use is Ecledos Solutions (www.ecledos.com) ,i already have an account opened with them, i have another transaction going, they also gave a GUIDE PAGE that will help you understand how it works. First we start a transaction , after that i will send my money to them in their bank account, and after i recive the product the money will be transfered to your bank account. I can not take my money back if that is one of your concern until you decline the transaction and even if i send back the item, the escrow will not let me take my money until you receive back the item and confirm that all is ok and give your aproval that i can take my money, you also have a period of inspection before you give aproval that i can take back the money. After thye 2 days of inspection expires they will automatically transfer you the money without asking me. This service also makes free insurances for item transacted if we use UPS,fedex or DHL for shiping. So escrow is a guarrantie for both of us. You can also register ,is free and easy. Email me as soon as you can. Sincerely, Albert Oh Albert... I agreed to using an escrow service... I did NOT agree to use one of YOUR choosing. We can either use my escrow, NO escrow or the deal's off. Ok. What escrow service do you have in mind? Just send me a check & I'll send you the watch. No sense in not keeping it simple. Why pay others fees if no need to? Ok, so this is where we left it as of about an hour ago. I'm leaving in an hour to prepare for our seminar tonight (that we're putting on). Anyone have any "love" they'd like me to share with Albert? I know he's just fishing so if you can think of any nibbles, I'm game to string him along. I really would like to simply break his fingers for being a sleezeball.
  16. QB COMPARISONS YardsTouchdownsQB Rating Maddox 30.1 League Average 78.2 League Leader 129.2 Let's hope the love continues through this next weekend [A] [A] [A] [A] [A] Actually, I'd rather see the Steelers at 100% so that when they go down their won't be any excuses.
  17. Let's hope history repeats itself [] http://www.bengals.com/news/news.asp?story_id=4736 ** Well, yeah, one little thing more. This isnt exactly the usual Steeler week. When the 5-1 Bengals play the 3-2 Steelers Sunday at Paul Brown Stadium, it marks the first time they meet with winning records since Nov. 18, 1990, when they each brought 5-4 records into a Sunday night game at Riverfront Stadium. For Bengals fans, thats at least good karma because Cincinnati won, 27-3, and went on to win the AFC Central and reach the playoffs for the last time. **
  18. Well guys... I've been a die hard Bengals fan since their inception. Given that, I dislike the Browns & Baltimore the most, followed by the Steelers. I went to Miami (same as you know who) AND my father was born/raised in Findlay so I've been partial to see Big Ben succeed and in general, root for the Steelers over the others (since the Bengals have been out of it for so many years) So, even though the Steelers would be the SECOND team I'd support in this division... I gotta say I'm really looking forward to this Sunday. Of course it's gonna be more of your pride on the mat but you'll get over it... (trust me, I had experience over the last 15 years getting over it) You DO realize that Carson has tied the league record with Payton in having nine games in a row with a +100 rating It's gonna be GREAT when he gets his tenth game at your expense lol. [] [] [] [A]
  19. Ok, gotcha... I didn't reallize you were speaking of it being quiet... I was thinking of the interaction of the speaker & amp. Like with ohms, impedence and all that spooky stuff that is over my head. []
  20. Ignorance alert (mine)... "I am running this amp with all 104db efficient speakers and that is a challenge for any amplifier" Why is this so?
  21. Hi D, (Soupamoto) I'm in Knoxville too. Live in Greenback & work in west Knox near Calhouns on Kingston. Like your bike picture... I had & sold a 1983 Maico 490 about a year ago. Got it as a basketcase & restored it to 100% function (didn't make it pretty, but made it mechanically correct for farm riding) Kind of hated to see it go but at least I've now had one of my childhood dreams (any big Maico). Welcome to the forum Richard
  22. What I BELIVE to be the other side before wifes magic. I can't swear this was the before shot on this SAME speaker like I can #10 (you can see serial number in previous pic) Anyways, this is the kind of wear the speaker had. All edges are in great shape.
