Success! Thanks guys for all the help on this. 45 RPM is now steady. I think Blvdre was right about there being crud on the wiper and resistive track. Thanks again to MicroMara for posting the adjustment instructions.

Thanks Micro for taking the time to post this. I'll give this a try Saturday and let you know how it comes out.

There's been an issue for a while getting the strobe to stay still at 45 rpm. Now the speed is actually audibly slowing down while playing.

Thanks for the info Micro.

I have a Micro Seiki DD 40 turntable that seems to be having issues with the 45 RPM speed. I've looked at the motor to see if there is a way to lube it and the motor appears to be sealed. I couldn't see any way to open it. The 33 RPM works fine. Have any of you guys had any experience servicing one of these?

It wasn't that hard to make. Used the platter and bearing from an old turntable I got from a thrift shop. I was going to make a vacuum wand but but found one already to go from Vinyl Vac for less that 30 bucks. It helps that my Dad has a metal working shop and was able machine the spindles that the vacuum wand rides on. The base is made from a piece of 1 1/4 plywood shelving that I had laying around. The shelving came with a layer of rubber on top that makes it easy to clean.

The first post on this thread referring to the Okki Nokki record cleaning machine inspired me to build this homemade version. It works pretty damn slick for less than 100 bucks.

There's a outtake of Bob Dylan's Every Grain of Sand on the Bootleg Series Vol 1 where you can clearly hear a dog barking in the background.

Here's my Transcendent Sound Pinnacle OTL mono block amps I just finished building. The output tubes are LinLai 300 BZ tubes. The Pinnacles are mated with a Transcendent Sound Slider preamp. Source components are a Micro Seiki turntable with a MA 505 tone arm and Denon DL-110 cartridge and a Teac 3300sx tape deck. Speakers are shop built Klipschorn style bass bins with Altec 511B horns and Altec 902 drivers for the mid range and Beyma CP-25 tweeters for the highs. Crossovers are ALK original universal networks. Going to have my buddie HC Man over for some serious listening this weekend!

Chuck you got a hell of a deal on that Masterpiece. Those Shuguang 300B tubes are worth $500.00 alone.

Hey Chuck how's everything in Wilmington? Good to hear you're going to be firing up the LaScala clones. Try to find a used Transcendent Sound phono preamp to use with the ATI amp. You will not be disappointed. I loaned the one I built to my buddy Bob to use with his Mac 225 and Cornwalls. He says his high end Micro Seiki TT has never sounded better.

Lady friend says to Man friend: You know I'm just not happy with my breast size. I wish they were bigger. Man friend says to Lady friend: Here's what you do. Every night before you go to bed take a handful of toilet paper and rub it between your breasts. Lady friend says to Man friend: How in the world is that going to help? Man friend says to Lady friend: Well it worked on your a** didn't it?

Are any of those decks 15 ips? I've never listened to 15 ips. Wondering how the sound compares to 7 1/2 ips. -

I've got a Teac 3300 SX and a Pioneer RT-909 that's been in a repair shop in Illinois for over a year. Don't know when I'll see that one again. Same as Coytee I make compilation/party tapes. I know Tarheel still has a couple of reel to reels as well. -
These are record temperatures. It can get into the 100s around here in the summer but never this hot.

Where I'm working in Moses Lake Wa it's supposed to get up to 114 degrees today and 116 degrees tomorrow. Brutal record high temperatures.

Altec 511B horn Beyma CP-25 tweeter.

Ha Ha! You've only listened to them about a 100 times.

Yeah I think you're right Mike. I'll hang onto the Jenson transformer.
-
Well Mike was right. I got 4 feet of separation between the slider and the mini beast and the hum is gone. With the volume turned all the way up a very slight hum can be heard but that's probably normal. Anybody need a Jenson Iso Max?

Last night I hooked up the 2A3 amp to the Slider. The phono section is dead quiet even with the volume turned way up. Tonight I'm going to swap positions of the Slider and the TT to get even more separation between the Slider and the Mini Beast. That might eliminate that slight hum altogether.
