  1. Everything you said was out of line. Purely political, clearly off limits. If this doesn’t meet your low standards, too bad.
  2. Think there are a few things we can check before you are to that point. There are several things that are much more likely than two XOs needing replacement. what is the latest status. Travis
  3. Hi Darrel, welcome to the Forum. Not sure what you will get in the way of responses to your question. The Klipsch Forum isn’t really manned by any Klipsch Customer Service or Tech Support people. It’s pretty much a place for Klipsch Fans to hang out, share experiences, and help with technical issues, but those technical issues tend to be on products that have been out awhile. For a current product you might want to direct you question as a “service ticket” to Klipsch Tech Support. Certainly warranty questions can only be answered directly with Klipsch Customer/Tech. Support.
  4. Me either, certainly not like Andy B. I don’t think they changed the LF cabinet much, if any, from since at least the early 60s up all they way into the 90s. Other than an enclosed back for an anniversary edition here and there, they seem pretty much identical all the way through. The esthetics on the top hat did change with collars, plain, etc. Travis
  5. Welcome to the Forum, I'm not sure how much traction you will get with you question in this older thread. If you want me to move it the technical section where it will get more visibility let me know and I will move it. I have KG-4s, from 1986, and the have always loved them, but I haven't changed the caps. To make sure you get the original sound you are used to you would want to go with JEM Performance who sell the factory-authorized (and tested) caps, or you can have @Deang who installs the factory-authorized kits. Travis
  6. Hi @Scott Grammer, how is this coming along? Wondering what you decided on the caps. I didn't realize you were neighbors with my good forum friend @Marvel. Travis
  7. @Scott Grammer I believe this is going to be your answer. Fifty posts.
  8. Edit: Misread this, backward. Already answered - that large of a voice coil, as associated disprharm will translate to much, much lower distortion that a 3" or 4" CD. The problem was the directivity of a 3" or 4" CD (it is inherent in the geometry of a CD) until you have a patent pending external extended phase plug that gets around that shortcoming. So you have low distortion (Design Criterial No. 1) and controlled directivity (Design Cirterial No. 2) coupled with flat response (No. 3), in a 2-way.
  9. He is gone now, same in another post. But nice to see @dtel Tiki bar again.
  10. He hasn’t been on in over a year, but you never know
  11. You are asking questions that only a couple of people know the answer to, Roy the current Chief acoustic engineer on the Khorn going back a ways, and Jim Hunter, the former VP of Engineering, Company Historian and curator of the Klipsch Museum. I don’t know that either one of them would be able to discuss the specifics of what you are asking. Real Baltic Birch plywood isn’t cheaper. Everything is about the sound at Klipsch.,
  12. That explains why you were upset, you are a 3d and weld type of guy, not a “super glue and duct tape will do.” On a side note, you’re a good dad in my book.
  13. Surprised no one said to try the Forte IV in a 10 x 10, I have hear them on a 12’ wall in a 12 x 14 and pretty amazing. Travis
  14. Doc Sevrenson had LaScalas. I think Klipsch Khorn, and do Jazz Trumpet more like like than any other speaker. However, the recordings have got to be good, they are very unforgiving of poor recordings. Travis
  15. The IV measures better, and has better coverage. All things being equal it will sound better to most people (preference), however, it’s certainly true that in any individual room a speaker can certainly perform differently. Initially, to me, the 1 sounds Ned’s better than the III, but that was sighted, subjective. Blind testing a I and a IV there was a clear difference I preferred the IV in two tests on two days. All the professional literature, Heyser, Toole, Olive, Olson from the 40s, up to the present says that we all are going to tend to prefer what we are used to. To really know you have to control for bias. Level matched, source material, same room, ability to switch back and forth quickly, and preferably be blind. That takes a tremendous amount of work. Travis
  16. Locked because it is a spam magnet.
  17. I think that’s right, but Andy and Jim Hunter have said that it was primarily American spruce ply with Baltic Birch ply for things like motor boards. But I can’t remember what time frames they were talking about. For sure it would change from time to time, I guess because of availability and pricing?
  18. So this thread crossed my path when looking up Clean Box Pro that @dtel used to solve an issue. But what I really want to know is if @babadono misses the pellet stove?
  19. I think it was more about line level matching between pro balanced and unbalanced. But it may handle him also, don’t know.
  20. I have heard nothing but great things about these if there are what I’m thinking they are. I think @dtel got one when he hooked his pro active crossover with balanced I/O to consumer amps (RCA) and there was hum. It killed the noise/hum and all was good. Travis PS: Yep, as I remembered, you can do a search for the term clean box pro and you will find comments on what it can do.
