  1. Schwin Cherry Crate, or Orange, or Cotton, never had one but sure stared at 'em on the store.
  2. But you don't live in a country where everything is criminal and thus you have to worry about criminals having more guns than law abiding country. You also don't live in a country where if you require things like gun registration, or limit handguns to the home, a tryant will suddenly emerge. As you have seen so reasonably and effectively argued in this thread, the only reason we have lasted this long is because the government is scared of all of the gun owners. It keeps em in line, closest tyrants stay closeted.
  3. Were you impressed? in the sense that i was in the same crowd as the president; but, wouldn’t have went to the event if we weren’t ordered to go. Just one of those times that you say to yourself “that’s the guy…" It is cool, very cool, regardless of who it is.
  4. There was another university shooting today, University of Northern Arizona, he can swing by on his way back home and politicize things there as well. Maybe he will just do a flyover.
  5. That was cool, NASA is cool.
  6. And you didn’t say Hi??? I tried to, but you were transfixed on George TGood
  7. I have seen Steve in action, he has the guts to be a parent. My sister and her husband raised two overachievers. When you let em run amuck it leads to problems. The biggest problem kids I have had as clients were from the wealthy high school, both parents were professionals and they threw money at the situation. Cars, trips, etc. If they get straight A's I say let em do what they want. If they are struggling with school you need to do everything you can to correct that, or they are going to be living with you forever.
  8. I was at that exact same show also with about 10 very close friends from college. They opened with under my tumb, I will never forget it. Some Girls was a great tour.
  9. It's my Belief that it's all Politics. I just don't see him getting the press for going to Chicago that he is getting with our local Tragedy! I look forward to the day when 10 or so oeople can be killed, by what whatever means, we have a president who responds by saying "no comment" or "its a local problem."
  10. What? Why? Is he going to take away guns while he is there? Is your sheriff going to refuse to meet with him? They don't have to meet with him if they don't want to and there is always a peaceful protest where ANY president travels, they set up areas for it. People can complain about whatever they want to. The president has made it clear that he want's more gun control. This is community that probably has higher gun ownership then many many community's. He could have came without the publicity that he seems to crave. Seems like this is just another photo op for him. I wouldn't put it past him to take some "Selfies with victims. My opinion is that he has POOR TASTE AND POOR JUDGEMENT. I realize we all have our own opinions and do not believe the same. Regardless of how this goes down. I'd like to see restraint here on the Forum. No president goes anywhere without publicity. The advance teams number in the 100s, FBI, Secret Service, State Police. Presidents don't take a poll before they decide to go somewhere. They just go.
  11. I think it works both ways. Notice that one of the victim's fathers (I think he was a father of one of them) went on Fox last night to complain that Obama should not politicize the tragedy. Re-cap: Guy goes on Fox, but not interested in politics. There's a lot of pot-calling going on in this situation. Well that is the biggest bunch of horse manure I have ever heard. Bakers bake, plumbers plumb, and politicians politicize. Every current candidate is speaking about that incident. Why? He was already scheduled to be in Seattle, what would they say if he did a Bush "flyiver." Historically speaking, and to put this thing into context, Ronny was an expert at it. He politicized his own shooting and signed a law banning machine guns and some assault weapons. He politicized the horrible injuries to his press secretary and supported the Brady law and a ten day waiting period after he was out office. Bush did a "fly over" after Katrina, got blasted and had to go back to LA and Mississippi. Remember him landing on the carrier, off of San Diego, and announced mission accomplished. LBJ snuck into Vietnam. Lincoln went near the front and got a photo with US Grant. They have been photo op ing since their were photos. I could go on, and on, and on. Presidents go to tragedies, unless they are busy, then they just fly over or send their VP, that is just history.
  12. Those are all great. I would add that one of the Muller's has a place in Austin that is rated No. 2 on a lot of lists. I prefer Smitty's but if you his Lockhart you might as well go to em all. I would put those all at a 9 or a 10. There is ine in Belton that is as good as any of those. But Franklin is in his own league. I never thought any BBQ was going to be worth a 3 hour wait, boy was I wrong.
  13. Don't forget the McRib sandwich at Mickey D's. I used to love those, but now I am wondering what the heck it is.
  14. Iwas interested to see how big the commotion was over the visit and went to the Oregonian to see what they were reporting. "Furor over the president's visit led the Roseburg City Council to issue a statement saying city officials will welcome Obama and "extend him every courtesy." Council President Tom Ryan said in an interview Tuesday that the statement – which referred to "misrepresentations" made by some people – was aimed at Jacques, who claimed to have the support of community leaders. If Obama "can help heal some families, more power to him," said Ryan, who also expressed concerns about what the president might say during his visit." The sheriff is reported as saying he doesn't want him there.
  15. Well he had many previous examples to follow, whether it is bad form or not: THE PRESIDENT: Governor, thank you. President Steger, thank you very much. Students, and faculty, and staff, and grieving family members, and members of this really extraordinary place. Laura and I have come to Blacksburg today with hearts full of sorrow. This is a day of mourning for the Virginia Tech community -- and it is a day of sadness for our entire nation. We've come to express our sympathy. In this time of anguish, I hope you know that people all over this country are thinking about you, and asking God to provide comfort for all who have been affected.

  17. Which bill? The one after Sandy Hook? If that is the one I can post the bill and we can talk about what they were trying to do. I can also link all of the cspan hearings and the vote. If it is a state bill you are referring to, less luck on that.
  18. Well I can understand your desire for KFC BBQ after having to eat NC BBQ all those years.
  19. No love for Steve Miller? I can't believe he is not in. I agree, Yes have been in long ago. They showed some credibility getting Linda Rondstat in there finally. Glen Frey gave an interview where he said they were too concerned about the television show and the ratings. They try to make a show that appeals to everyone. From the R&R HOF site: Steve Miller was a mainstay of the San Francisco music scene that upended American culture in the late 60s. With albums like Children Of The Future, Sailor and Brave New World, Miller perfected a psychedelic blues sound that drew on the deepest sources of American roots music and simultaneously articulated a compelling vision of what music – and, indeed, society – could be in the years to come.
  20. I like it, thank you for that. From their Faq page: What's done with all the electronics and large appliances once you receive them for recycling? 21. really? I’ve never seen her at the meetings. It's supposed ti be anonymous.
  22. That place is legendary, it has been in the news lately because they stopped line holders, people who just wait in line and have a bunch of orders for others. If I ever find myself anywhere close I would love to go, I once though about a trip planned around all the great smokehouses in Texas, it would be great. Be sure you end there. Come on down, we will get in line at 7 am and drink 11 when they open and do it up. http://www.foodandwine.com/articles/crimes-against-bbq-brisket-aaron-franklin
